Chubby Cheeks Treatment Sydney

Lower face Vaser Liposuction will melt fat cells and tighten collagen fibres in the lower face to create a more youthful and defined jawline. Round and chubby cheeks can be a hereditary trait, occurring even in slim and and athletic individuals. It results from having excess fat in the mid face area called Buccal fat, this can give the illusion of fullness or a “baby face”. This Buccal fat pad may be removed to provide more definition and contour to the mid face.

    Vaser liposuction to face

Vaser liposuction is indicated for contouring the jawline and is performed on the area of the face below the corner of the jaw to the corner of the mouth.

Lower Face Liposuction is a minimally invasive alternative to a full blown Face Lift Surgery. It may help to reverse signs of ageing in the lower face to create a more youthful, defined jawline. Lower Face Liposuction involves a medical practitioner inserting a fine ultrasound probe underneath the skin. The Vaser probe uses ultrasound energy to melt fat cells and tighten the collagen fibres in the skin. This results in an improvement to your jowls and overall face shape.

The results are 50 -80% of what you can expect with a traditional face lift, although can vary from patient to patient. Results are generally seen after 6 weeks, once all swelling has subsided.

Patients over 40 years of age with saggy jowls are the most common group to get the Vaser Face Lift. This demographic are good candidates from this liposuction surgery. With that said, younger patients can get this liposuction procedure to melt fat pads that make them look like they have chubby cheeks.

This cosmetic surgery involves a light sedation and numbing to the area with local anaesthesia. A tiny incision is made under the neck and behind the ear to allow the insertion of the Vaser probe. The probe is then moved back and forth in the area to raise the temperature to 38-40 degrees. This will help contract the collagen fibres to tighten the skin and melt the fat cells. There is minimal discomfort, and it takes only 30-60 minutes to complete.

It is a walk in, walk out procedure and most people only need 1 – 2 days off work. You can get some slight swelling for up to a week.  Bruising is usually minimal and pain can be controlled with pain relief medication.

Vaser liposuction to face - Recovery

As a minimally invasive procedure, you will return home on the same day as your facial liposuction procedure. Some mild pain and discomfort is common, particularly in the neck area, however, this can be relieved with pain medications. You will need to wear a compression garment full time for around one week and then nightly for another two weeks. Overall, recovery is relatively quick, and most patients can return to work within a few days. We also advise sleeping with your head elevated for at least two weeks. To optimise your recovery process, become familiar with the do’s of Liposuction recovery:

    • Do wear your liposuction compression garments
    • Do maintain a healthy diet
    • Do listen to your body
    • Do take care of your surgical sites
    • Do attend post-surgical checkups

    Why do saggy jowls occur?

Saggy jowls occur for three reasons:

    • Fat pads from your cheeks move south  towards your jowls
    • Skin becomes saggy
    • Muscles in the neck area pull the jowls down more tightly

The Vaser probe will help tighten the skin by causing the contraction of the collagen fibres, as well as melting the fat pads that cause heavy jowls. Anti Wrinkle Injections can be applied along the jaw line and in the neck to help prevent additional pulling on the neck muscles. All of these treatments together provide you with a number of ways to improve your jowls (without a traditional  face lift).

How much does facial liposuction cost?

At Cosmos Clinic, we know that cost plays a huge role in your decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. However, facial liposuction does not fit a one price fits all strategy, as every patient is different. The cost of your lower face liposuction can vary depending on factors such as:

    • The areas of the face treated
    • The amount of fat removed
    • The body type of the patient
    • The type of anaesthetic used
    • The amount of time spent in surgery

Our lower face liposuction procedures start from around $4,000. If you wish to treat other areas of the face, for example, the neck, or combine your facial liposuction with body liposuction, you can expect these costs to increase. To receive the most accurate face liposuction quote, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our Cosmos Clinic doctors.

    What is Vaser Liposuction?

As the latest advancement in liposuction, Vaser offers a gentler alternative to traditional liposuction techniques. Vaser uses ultrasound energy to heat and liquefy the fat cells, making them easier to remove from the body, resulting in less pain and quicker recovery times.

What happens to the skin after Lower Face Liposuction?

Thanks to the heat delivered by the Vaser ultrasound probe, lower face liposuction has the added benefit of stimulating new collagen fibres. This helps the skin to retract after surgery, resulting in tighter, firmer skin. At Cosmos Clinic, liposuction is the ultimate facial rejuvenation procedure, as it both reduces stubborn fat and tightens the skin.

Am I a suitable candidate for face liposuction?

You may be a suitable candidate for facial liposuction if you fit the following criteria:

    • You are in good physical and mental health
    • You are bothered by the appearance of stubborn fat in the lower face, such as the cheeks, chin and jawline
    • You have realistic expectations regarding what facial liposuction can achieve
    • You are prepared to follow healthy diet and exercise habits after surgery to maintain your results
    • You have good skin elasticity
    • You do not smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery

The best way to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for liposuction to the face is to meet with our Cosmos Clinic doctors for a consultation.

When will I see the results of my procedure?

Swelling is very common after liposuction, even with the strict use of a compression device. While you may begin to see some improvements after the first week, it can take several weeks for swelling to subside entirely. Your final results will be visible after six months.

Are lower face liposuction results permanent?

Once your fat cells have been removed, they will never return. Despite that, your remaining fat cells can still expand, so we recommend maintaining your post-lipo weight after surgery to ensure your results remain stable. Keep in mind that liposuction does not stop the ageing process, and you may still experience sagging skin and loss of facial fat over time.

Is facial liposuction the same as liposuction to the body?

Yes, facial liposuction follows the same principles as liposuction on other areas of the body. The only real difference is the amount of fat removed. During a facial liposuction procedure, your doctor will only remove a few ounces of fat, whereas body liposuction may remove several litres.

What should I do to prepare for my face liposuction procedure?

During your consultation, your Cosmos Clinic doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions. You will be asked to quit smoking and avoid certain medications and supplements, to avoid surgical complications. We also recommend taking steps before surgery to prepare for your recovery. This may include purchasing some comfortable clothing, filling prescriptions, preparing some healthy meals and arranging for someone to pick you up from the hospital after the procedure.

    Is the procedure painful?

During the procedure, you will be placed under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia, so you should feel little pain or discomfort. Any post-operative discomfort can be relieved with medications prescribed by your doctor.

What are the risks and side effects associated with facial liposuction?

Studies have shown that Vaser technology has fewer complications compared to other liposuction techniques. However, there are still some inherent risks, as with any surgical procedure. Some of the potential side effects to be aware of include:

    • Pain and aching
    • Bruising and bleeding
    • Persistent swelling
    • Asymmetry
    • Skin irregularities
    • Poor scarring
    • Nausea
    • Numbness

Why choose buccal fat pad removal?

If the size of your cheeks are out of proportion with the rest of your face having buccal fat removal can give you a more harmonious appearance. The treatment can be performed in as little as 30 minutes and the results are permanent.

Who is the best candidate for buccal fat removal?

Ideal for patients who feel their face is too round or chubby. The best candidates are those who are within 20 pounds of their goal weight and have excess buccal fat (and not roundness caused by weight gain).

How is the Buccal fat pad removal treatment performed?

Local anaesthetic is given to numb the area. Your doctor will then make a small incision to the inside of the cheek and the excess fat is removed. The wound will then be closed with dissolvable sutures.

No incisions are made on the outside of the cheek so no scaring will be visible.

What to expect post buccal fat removal?

It is normal to experience some swelling, bruising and soreness immediately after the procedure. These symptoms are only temporary and should gradually subside over the next couple of weeks.

Full recovery should take up to 3 weeks. Full results may vary as it can take some time for the cheeks to settle in there new shape.

Is buccal Fat pad removal permanent?

Once the buccal fat pads have been removed they’re gone forever and the results are permanent. What happens if someone gains weight after the procedure?
The good news is the buccal fat pads wont grow back; however weight gain on other areas of the face can affect the results.

What are the possible complications of buccal fat pad removal?

Buccal fat pad removal is a very safe procedure with low rates of complications; however as with any medical procedure it is possible to have side – effects. These include : infection, bleeding, poor healing or injury to facial nerves.

Is Buccal Fat pad removal right for me ?

Depending on your facial structure and aesthetic goal, buccal fat removal can help you achieve a slimmer and more contoured profile. The procedure is not for everyone, however. Keep in mind that as we age our face loses volume and subcutaneous fat. Its possible for your cheeks to look too hollow or deep after 10-20 years. Its best to schedule a consultation with an experienced doctor to know if this procedure is right for you.
