    THE RESULTS

Contouring your body for a more muscular appearance

Vaser High Definition goes one step further in the process of body sculpting than Vaser Liposuction. Developed for men and women who want a more athletic and muscular appearance, the Vaser High Definition technique removes fat from around and on-top of the muscle groups, to enhance the visibility of underlying muscles, producing ultra-defined results.

*Results may vary from patient to patient.
**All photos are of patients from Cosmos Clinic, and all ‘after’ images are taken 6 weeks post operation.

*** Any invasive or surgical procedure carries risks

    THE PROCEDURE

Achieve beautiful muscle definition using state of the art Vaser technology

The best candidates have good skin tone, and can feel the muscle underneath the skin, when contracting. For example Vaser High Definition would remove the small amounts of fat in-between the abs, to bring out a perfect, athletic looking six pack.

    • Precision: Vaser High Definition can achieve this high level of muscle definition.
    • Gentle: Vaser turns fat tissue into a ‘butter’ like consistency, making it easier to suction out. This makes the procedure much more gentle which helps with recovery.
    • Recovery time: Most patients experience minimal discomforts and generally return to work in 4-7 days.
    • Natural, smooth results: Vaser Liposuction melts the fat allowing for a more uniform removal of the fat cells while at the same time tightening the skin.

Below outlines the procedure to expect on the day of Vaser Hi Def Liposuction.

Step 1: Conscious Sedation & Incision Medications are given to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Incisions (half a centimetre wide) are then made in hidden spots, to allow for the introduction of the cannula. General anaesthetic is an option.

Step 2: Infiltration The area to be reshaped is filled with a tumescent saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (this helps minimise any blood loss and reduce bruising).

Step 3: VASER A small probe is inserted into the treatment area. It transmits sound energy to break up and liquefy or melt the fat tissue, whilst preserving other important tissues.

Step 4: Suction This technique allows the removal of the fat layer just under the skin to allow for the creation of an abdominal six-pack, with a cannula designed to minimise trauma to surrounding tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. This approach promotes smooth results and rapid healing. The suction process puts specific emphasis on outlining the muscles of the upper body, like the rectus abdominis, serratus anterior, obliques, pectorals and latissimus dorsi.

Step 5: Skin Retraction The heat from the ultrasound causes the skin to retract to give a smooth, natural result.

    POST SURGERY

Vaser HD recovery & what to expect

After your Vaser Hi Def Liposuction treatment, some fluid drainage can occur from the incision point and drains, this will normally last for 3-5 days. A compression garment will need to be worn for 3 – 6 weeks to assist in reducing bruising/swelling and improve skin retraction. You will return home on the same day of the procedure. You will not be bed-ridden, and we encourage you to move about and not be stagnate. Everybody heals differently, you know your own body and we suggest you listen to it and give yourself time to heal properly. Normal daily activities can be returned to the day after the procedure, however vigorous activities such as exercise or sports must be avoided for 4-6 weeks. You will require regular lymphatic massages over 2 weeks, with our onsite physiotherapist or nurse. The lymphatic drainage massage helps speed up recovery by dispersing the excess fluid to help provide the best results possible. The swelling will peak at 7 – 10 days and subside at 3 -6 weeks. Bruising will last 2-3 weeks. At weeks 2-3 you may develop some underlying scar tissue that can be treated using PRP at our clinics. The 1/2 cm incisions will heal in under a week. To optimise your recovery process, become familiar with the do’s of Liposuction recovery:

    • Do wear your liposuction compression garments
    • Do maintain a healthy diet
    • Do listen to your body
    • Do take care of your surgical sites
    • Do attend post surgical check ups

*Results may vary from patient to patient.
**All photos are of patients from Cosmos Clinic, and all ‘after’ images are taken 6 weeks post operation.

What body areas can be treated with Vaser High Definition Liposuction?

Vaser Hi Def Liposuction can be used on any part of the body you wish to add muscle definition. The most popular areas for body contouring are the:

    • Stomach: Carving out an athletic appearance, defined 6-pack.
    • Chest: For the men, liposculpture can be used to transform man boobs into a well-shaped firm chest, with a more square shaped chest rather than a round feminine look, making your pecs more pronounced.
    • Arms: Adding fine detail to the biceps and triceps for that overall ripped look.
    • Back: Giving the slim ‘S’ shape in women, or the desirable ‘V’ shape in men to define the lats (latissimus dorsi). The Venus dimples can also be revealed with Vaser high definition liposuction.

Are the results of Vaser High Definition Liposuction permanent?

The actual number of fat cells in a person’s body remains stable after adolescence. Unless we become grossly obese, you do not grow more fat cells after adolescence. The fat cells grow bigger when you put weight on and smaller when you lose weight. When the fat cells are removed by liposuction, it is more difficult to gain fat in the treated areas. Liposuction results in a permanent change in your shape. When you put weight on after Liposuction it is in a more even distribution. These findings were published in the August issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The full report can be read here.

How much does Vaser Hi Definition Liposuction cost?

At Cosmos Clinic, we understand that cost will likely play a huge factor in your decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. However, the Vaser Hi Def Liposuction procedure does not fit a one price fits all strategy. Costs for this procedure will vary from patient to patient, depending on factors such as:

    • The areas of the body treated
    • The number of body areas treated
    • The patient’s body type
    • The type of anaesthetic used
    • The amount of time spent in surgery

As a general guide, our Vaser High Definition Liposuction procedures start from $7,000 for women and $10,000 for men. If you are interested in treating multiple body areas, we charge approximately $2,000 for each additional area, depending on the size. The benefit of treating multiple areas at once is that it will reduce your overall costs and recovery times. To receive the most accurate Vaser Hi Def quote, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our surgeons.

What is the difference between Vaser and Vaser Hi Definition Liposuction?

Vaser Liposuction and Vaser Hi Def Liposuction both use ultrasound technology to break apart fat deposits for easier removal, leaving a more refined and smoother result, with less pain and less downtime.
Vaser Liposuction  is a body contouring procedure that shapes the body by getting rid of any uneven pockets of fat. This gives a toned look to the body, with softer lines than Vaser hi def. Vaser High Definition goes one step further in the process of body sculpting. Developed for men and women who want a more athletic and muscular appearance, the Vaser High Definition technique removes fat from around and on-top of the muscle groups, to enhance the visibility of underlying muscles, producing ultra-defined results. The best candidates have good skin tone, and can feel the muscle underneath the skin, when contracting. For example Vaser High Definition would remove the small amounts of fat in-between the abs, to bring out a perfect, athletic looking six pack.

Am I a suitable candidate for Vaser Hi Def Liposuction?

You may be a suitable candidate for Vaser Hi Definition Liposuction if you fit the following criteria:

    • You are in good physical and mental health
    • You have realistic expectations regarding what Vaser Hi Def can achieve
    • You have minimal body fat and desire a more athletic appearance
    • You are willing to follow healthy diet and exercise habits after surgery to maintain your results
    • You have good skin elasticity
    • You do not smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery

Ultimately, the best way to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for this procedure is to meet with our Cosmos Clinic surgeons for a consultation.

Do I need to be fit and slim to have Vaser Hi Definition Liposuction?

You do not have to have a perfect body to undergo Vaser Hi Def Liposuction. We can use liposculpture techniques on all body types to create a more athletic, muscular appearance. In fact, having a layer of fat prior to surgery can actually optimise results, so you do not need to lose all of your weight before surgery. Despite that, we do advise that you achieve a stable weight prior to surgery, as fluctuations in weight may impair results.

When will I see the results of my procedure?

Immediately after surgery you may notice that your body contour is slimmer, however you will need to wait for post-operative swelling to subside and the skin to retract and tighten before your final results appear. This can take anywhere between three and six months, during which your results will gradually improve.

How long does the procedure take to complete?

The time spent in the surgery will depend on the areas treated, and the amount of sculpting required. On average, you can expect your Vaser Hi Def Liposuction to take between one and four hours to complete.

Will I feel any pain during the liposuction procedure?

We perform all of our Vaser Hi Def procedures under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia, meaning that you should not feel any pain during surgery. You can alleviate any pain or discomfort experienced during recovery with medications prescribed by your surgeon.

How do I prepare for Vaser Hi Def Liposuction?

Your Cosmos Clinic surgeon will give you specific pre-operative instructions during your Vaser Hi Def consultation. If you smoke, you must quit at least two weeks before surgery, as smoking can slow healing times and increase surgical complications. Additionally, your surgeon may suggest that you avoid certain medications and supplements that can cause excessive bleeding during and after surgery. We also highly recommend taking steps before surgery to prepare for your recovery. This could include filling any needed prescriptions, purchasing some comfortable clothing, preparing some healthy meals and arranging for someone to pick you up from the hospital and help with tasks at home for a few days.

Can I treat multiple body areas in one procedure?

Yes, many patients choose to sculpt multiple areas of the body during one Vaser Hi Def procedure. Please speak with your Cosmos surgeon about this possibility during a consultation.

Will the Vaser Hi Def procedure leave a scar?

Scarring is an inevitable part of any invasive procedure. However, the incisions made during your Vaser High Definition Liposuction are very small and placed in locations that can be hidden easily. As such, significant scarring is rare and will fade over time.

What are the risks and side effects associated with Vaser Hi Definition Liposuction?

All invasive procedures come with risk. However, Vaser is considered a safer form of liposuction, and we’ve performed thousands of Vaser Hi Def procedures at Cosmos Clinic without incident. Some of the potential side effects to be aware of include:

    • Bruising and bleeding
    • Pain and aching
    • Loose skin that doesn’t adjust to your new body contour
    • Persistent swelling
    • Asymmetry or skin irregularities
    • Poor scarring
    • Fluid accumulation under the skin
    • Asymmetry or skin irregularities
    • Nausea
    • Numbness
