Cellulite is caused by the very superficial layers of fat pressing up against the lower layers of skin. These enlarged fat cells push against the skin and compress the bodies circulatory system – causing the dreaded “orange peel” dimpled appearance. In many cases, cellulite occurs in people who are overweight or have genetically inherited this trait. Other factors include: ageing, hormones and gender differences in skin structure. While being overweight certainly exacerbates the appearance of cellulite, cellulite is ultimately a condition of the skin. Cellulite most commonly occurs in the outer thighs and buttocks however, it can sometimes be found in other regions around the body (such as the upper arm).
Cellulite is not a “fat” problem, but rather a skin structure problem occurring far below the surface of the skin. The Harvest PRP treatment targets this problem area beneath the skin surface. It delivers highly concentrated platelets to the affected area, which stimulate collagen, thicken skin and increase elasticity. The result is a long lasting reduction in Cellulite. Most clients experience only minimal discomfort when the PRP injection is given. There is a slight sting when fluid is injected (similar to a flu shot). Patients’ experiences may vary. For more information on how Harvest PRP works, read our Harvest PRP Treatment page.
The Harvest PRP Treatment is a procedure aimed at addressing cellulite in certain body areas. Harvest PRP works by targeting the structures that actually cause cellulite. Over the counter cellulite creams, pills and caffeine lotions only target the surface of the skin and don’t penetrate far enough to cause important structural changes to the skin’s layers. Additionally, endermologie, lymphatic drainage massages or dry-brushing might help, however the improvements won’t be great enough to significantly change the appearance of Cellulite.
Harvest PRP is suitable for anyone with cellulite. It is a minimally invasive procedure (injections using your own blood) that can offer noticeable and long-lasting results in cellulite removal and reduction. Many non-invasive treatments only remove water from inside and around the fat cells making the cellulite look temporarily better. They don’t address the core problem of fibrous bands, or the look and strength of the skin.
The Harvest PRP Treatment offers patients long lasting results in the battle against Cellulite. Benefits include:
At Cosmos Aesthetics, we have found that 3 treatments, spaced 1 month apart give the best results.
As this procedure uses your own blood, there are no possible reactions to the treatment. It is minimally invasive procedure with no downtime, so you can go straight back to work after your treatment. Some minor complications that may occur could include bruising, and slight swelling. It is important to note that each patient’s experience may vary. * Any invasive or surgical procedure carries risks.
