THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT A NON-SURGICAL BLEPHAROPLASTY

    Understanding the Procedure

What are some side effects of having a non-surgical eyelid lift?

A non-surgical eye lift offers a less invasive alternative to traditional surgical eye lifts, using plasma energy to promote skin tightening and rejuvenation around the eye area. The treatment is still a cosmetic procedure, with recovery time and some potential downtime to consider, including:

    • Redness, swelling, and scabbing can be expected post-treatment.
    • Multiple sessions may be required for optimal results.
    • Some skin types may experience hyper or hypo-pigmentation following treatment.
    • Not everyone is a suitable candidate; having a thorough consultation with a qualified medical practitioner is essential.

Whilst the non-surgical eye lift with a plasma generator offers many advantages, it’s crucial to have realistic expectations, and understand that results can vary from person to person.

What other concerns can be treated with a plasma generating device?

The plasma generator can be used to reduce the appearance of sagging skin and enhance tightening on the upper eyelid skin, lower eyelids, under eye bags, fine lines, and wrinkles, as well as reduce the visibility of dark circles. Additional enhancements can be made on other treated areas, including:

    • Removing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.
    • Reducing the appearance of scars, including post-surgery scars and acne scars.
    • Removing skin tags and moles (flat or raised).
    • Reducing the appearance of keloid scars, warts, and fibromas.
    • Reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
    • Treating pigmentation and sunspots to reduce their appearance.
    • Treating active acne by killing germs and acne-causing bacteria.
    • Treating broken blood vessels/capillaries/spider veins.

WHAT DOES A NON-SURGICAL EYE LIFT INVOLVE

    Having the Procedure

How does a non-surgical blepharoplasty treatment work?

Plasma energy is created when a gas passes through an electromagnetic field between the device tip and the skin. The tiny holes created in the skin with the plasma generating device, turn solids into a gas, and this process is called sublimation. It is important to note that the plasma generation does not damage the surrounding skin or the eye.

The treatment area is cleansed and a topical local anaesthesia numbing cream is applied. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the plasma device creates a small electrical discharge or arc, which is directed towards the skin’s surface, causing a controlled micro-injury, stimulating the contraction and tightening of the collagen fibres.

Whilst the treatment is relatively comfortable, sublimation does result in a smell similar to burnt hair. For a non-surgical eye lift, you may need more than one treatment, with three treatment sessions spaced one month apart being optimal. Post-procedure results can last for several months to years, depending on the individual. It is important to remember that the results achieved may vary, and maintenance treatments can still be needed.

Is there any downtime after a non-surgical eyelid lift?

To support healing and reduce the risk of complications, it’s essential to follow all aftercare instructions discussed during the consultation and provided to you by your medical practitioner. After the procedure, it’s common to experience some redness and a slight burning sensation in the treated area. This typically subsides within a few hours.

    • Swelling: Some swelling can be expected, especially around the eye area. This usually peaks within the first 48 hours and then gradually diminishes over the next few days.
    • Scabbing: Small black or brown crusts or scabs will form on the treated spots where the plasma arc touched the skin. It’s essential not to pick at or remove these scabs prematurely, as they protect the skin underneath and aid in the healing process. They typically fall off on their own within 5-8 days.
    • Skin Tightening: As the skin heals, you may feel a tightening sensation. This is a sign that the skin is rejuvenating and producing new collagen.
    • Aftercare: Keep the treated area clean and protected from direct sunlight. Using a good quality SPF is essential, as well as any aftercare ointments recommended by the medical practitioner to aid in the healing process.
    • Downtime: While the procedure is non-invasive, it’s still advisable to take a few days off from work and social activities, especially if swelling is noticeable. Swelling can last on average 3 days, with visible brown dots lasting 5-8 days on average.
    • Results: While some results may be visible as the swelling begins to subside, the full effects of the treatment, including skin tightening and rejuvenation, can take several weeks to months to become apparent, as new collagen production in the treatment areas continues.

Post-procedure results can last for several months to years, depending on the individual. This information is just a guide and is not a results or recovery time guarantee.

What other surgical procedure options are available?

Invasive procedures available to address concerns with the upper eye area, lower eyes, and overall skin laxity, including surgical blepharoplasty, brow lift, and face lift. These specialised treatments are surgical options with sagging skin removal, performed by plastic surgeons.

What other non-surgical procedure options are available?

Other non-surgical cosmetic procedures available at Cosmos Aesthetics that can be used in combination with plasma rejuvenation to enhance a more youthful appearance includes, radiofrequency treatments, Wrinkle Reduction Treatments, and Volume Enhancement Treatments.

How many non-surgical blepharoplasty treatments will I need?

The number of sessions needed will depend on multiple factors including the severity of the loose skin around your eyes. Most people report seeing improvements after one treatment, but this can depend on the skin type, skin laxity, severity of wrinkles, and the desired result expectations.

Where can I have a non-surgical blepharoplasty done?

The non-surgical eye lift treatment, as well as other skin rejuvenation treatment options performed with the plasma generator, are only available at Cosmos Aesthetics clinics located in Sydney, Australia at: Double Bay, Cronulla, and Manly.
