    THE TREATMENT

    Procedure Overview

Skin needling can address various skin challenges, including fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, enlarged pores, and skin texture. It uses the Dermapen device with micro-needles to stimulate the skin’s natural healing process and collagen production.

What to Expect During the Procedure

    • Anaesthetic Application: A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 15–20 minutes to minimise discomfort, though individual experiences may vary.
    • Treatment Process: Very fine needles in the Dermapen create microchannels in the skin to support collagen stimulation. This treatment can also be combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) if required.
    • Duration: The procedure typically lasts about an hour and can be used on various areas of the body.

    Post-Treatment Care

    • Initial Appearance: The skin may appear flushed or pink (similar to mild sunburn) for up to 48 hours. Dryness and light scabbing may develop, lasting up to two weeks. Avoid picking at scabs to prevent further irritation.
    • Product Avoidance: Refrain from using stimulating products, such as AHAs, retinol (Vitamin A), or other active ingredients, for at least two days post-treatment.
    • Breakouts: Some individuals may experience temporary acne breakouts around the mouth and chin area.

    Results and Maintenance

    • Visible Changes: Some improvement may be noticed after the first week. However, new collagen formation occurs over 90 days, with continued progress over 3–6 months.
    • Treatment Plan: Typically, three sessions are recommended, with up to six sessions needed for more severe concerns. Treatments are spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

How Much Does Skin Needling Cost?

    • Prices start from $550–$600 per session.

    • Initial consultation fees range from $120–$150 and are redeemable upon treatment.

What's the difference between fractional laser and skin needling?

For individuals looking for a treatment to address skin texture, fractional laser treatment may be one option to explore. For those who prefer a method with less downtime and fewer risks, skin needling with Dermapen may be a more appropriate alternative.

Typically, two sessions of skin needling are often considered comparable to one fractional laser treatment in terms of impact. To determine the most suitable option based on your skin type and specific concerns, a consultation with a healthcare professional is strongly recommended.

Are there any risks with skin needling?

Medical needling is considered a safe method of collagen induction and the downtime can span 1-3 days, which may vary from patient to patient. The inflammatory response of your skin is short and the red flushing will fade within hours after the treatment. The Dermapen does not use heat energy, like lasers, so there is no risk of hyperpigmentation. It is advised that you avoid active products for 48 hours and sun protection is essential.
