A Brazilian Butt Lift uses your own purified fat from unwanted areas to give your bottom a more lifted, larger appearance. The amount of fat used depends on the desired look you're trying to achieve . At Cosmos we classify them into 3 shapes: Sports Illustrated, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian.
At Cosmos we classify them into 3 shapes: Sports Illustrated, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian. An average of 400 – 1,200mls is injected into each buttock cheek. We can inject as much as the buttock cheek can hold.
Results can be seen immediately, however true results are seen at around the 6 week mark after all swelling has subsided.
*Results may vary from patient to patient. **All photos are of patients from Cosmos Clinic, and all ‘after’ images are taken 6 weeks post operation.
Gently removing fat from unwanted areas to create a lifted, perky and shapely behind
During a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), Liposuction is used to remove your own fat – mainly from the abdomen, thighs or back. The fat is purified, cleaned, and then these healthy fat cells are re-injected into your buttocks. The result is a lifted, perky and shapely behind. The length of this cosmetic procedure will vary depending on the fat grafting process and the amount of fat required to be extracted via liposuction. Both procedures can be performed on the same day.
We’ve performed more than 3,000 butt lift surgeries (experience counts!)
The Brazilian Butt Lift was first performed at Cosmos Clinic in 2010; and since, we’ve performed over 3,000 butt lift surgeries.
Your initial Brazilian Butt Lift/Augmentation consultation and subsequent procedure can be undertaken at one of our cosmetic clinics in Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide or the Gold Coast.
We also treat many interstate and overseas patients each year at Cosmos Clinic. Therefore, we have set procedures in place for those travelling to our clinics for treatment. For travelling patients please send us images of the areas you wish to have treated, which Cosmos Clinic you’d like treatment at, and where you’re located in the description so our staff can include all the appropriate information for travelling patients as part of your personalised quote.

Recovery generally takes 10-14 days off work. The surgeon generally injects slightly more than what is needed as not all of the fat will be taken in by your body. As a result, your initial reaction may be that your rear end looks swollen or bigger than expected; but this will subside slighting at the final results.
Generally, over 80% of the injected fat cells survive. A Buttock Augmentation/ Lift will require you to wear a compression garment for 3 weeks full time, and then 3 weeks part time. For 2 weeks following the procedure, you will be required to avoid sitting on your bottom (you can sit forward on your thighs) or placing pressure on the area for prolonged periods.
You will need to stay on antibiotics for 10 days after the procedure. You will also be required to attend the clinic for twice weekly post operative massages for the first week. It is also very important to note that post the operation, you will experience some swelling and bruising at the operation site.

Buttock Augmentation (or Butt Lift surgery) assists in reshaping your behind to your desired shape. This surgical procedure can create the ultimate “Brazilian Butt”, and it involves removing fat from one part of the body, and placing it back into the buttock area. Buttock Augmentation/Lifts have been used across the globe to transform behinds into something beautiful and appealing – using either your own fat or butt implants. At Cosmos Clinic, we prefer to use your own fat during this cosmetic surgery because it is more precise, gives a more natural look, and there is less chance of rotation or infection.
Who are the best candidates for a Buttock Augmentation/Lift?
The best candidate for a Buttock Augmentation/ Lift are those who need shape and definition to their behind, and have reserves of fat elsewhere on their body; namely the abdomen, thighs or back. Complaints such as “my butt is too flat” or “I want a round and prominent butt” are good reasons for this procedure.
What areas of the body can fat be extracted from?
Essentially, fat can be extracted from anywhere on the body that it appears. Typical places include the abdomen, thighs and back. Other areas include the upper arms, hips or breasts. Ideally, good candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift will have fat removed from the love handles and lower back to deliver a stunning ‘V’-shape from the back. This ‘V’ will also make the ‘S’ shape of the buttock more accentuated.
I don’t have much fat elsewhere on my body. Can I still get the procedure done?
There are options for patients who don’t carry a lot of excess fat (or those who have undergone significant weight loss). The first is to gain weight (using a healthy approach) until there is enough fat that can be removed. The second is to be referred to a surgeon for buttock implants. However, fat injections provide the most natural results and carry a low risk of infection.
Can I use someone else's fat?
No, this can give rise to infection and rejection of the fat by your body.
How much of the fat will survive the transfer process?
It is worth noting that with traditional Liposuction techniques, less than 50% of the fat extracted will survive the transfer process to the buttock. At Cosmos Clinic, we use Vaser Liposuction, which is a gentler approach to removing the fat compared to traditional liposuction. The survival rate of the fat using these techniques is greater than 80%.1
Are there any risks of complications?
There are inherent risks and complications as there are with any surgery. You should be aware of the potential risks and discuss any concerns you may have with your doctor before your surgery is performed.
Will I experience any pain?
The surgical procedure is performed under deep sedation, so you will not feel any pain during the procedure. A general anaesthetic is available upon request. Pain relief is also provided postoperatively to minimise any discomfort.
