    BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT SURGERY

    Considering the Procedure

Who is a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

A BBL procedure at Cosmos Aesthetics is a treatment option available for suitable individuals wanting buttock enhancement without the use of buttock implants. Suitability for cosmetic procedures, including BBL, is determined during initial consultations with our medical practitioners. Some of the criteria that may be considered to determine if you are a good candidate for cosmetic surgery, including for BBL surgery, may consist of:

    • If you have good physical and mental health.
    • If you maintain a healthy stable weight.
    • If you have realistic expectations about the results liposuction combined with fat transfer to the buttocks might achieve for you, and you do not expect the same final treatment results others may have achieved.
    • If you possess a sufficient amount of fat that can be removed via liposuction for transfer to the buttocks.
    • If you recognise that Vaser Lipo isn’t a method used for weight loss.
    • If you have good skin quality without excess skin in the areas being considered for treatment.
    • If you understand that Vaser Liposuction and fat transfer, like any surgical procedure, comes with inherent risks and potential side effects, some of which can be permanent.

Are there any requirements to have buttock augmentation?

For individuals contemplating having cosmetic surgery in Australia, including those considering a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, there are specific prerequisites to fulfil before being able to book for surgery. These consist of obtaining a referral from a General Practitioner (GP), attending two initial consultations with at least one being with the doctor who will be conducting your surgery, and observing a mandatory minimum seven day cooling off period following the second consultation.

Where can I have a buttock augmentation procedure?

There are Cosmos Aesthetics conveniently located around Australia in: Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, and the Gold Coast. We are also proud to support non-local patients, individual’s living interstate, as well as those located overseas. To learn if you might be a good candidate for a BBL procedure, please enquire with our friendly team.

How much does a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure cost?

We understand that the price of cosmetic surgery is something prospective patients consider. At Cosmos Aesthetics, the cost to have a BBL procedure starts from a minimum base price of $7,700. However, these prices are just a guide and are not an exact quote. There isn’t a one-price-fits-all flat rate for surgery, and prices are calculated from the specific needs and circumstances of each patient. The total cost of buttock enhancement surgery varies depending on factors such as:

    • Doctor Fees: This is the fee set by the doctor to perform your procedure and will range in cost based on multiple factors, including the individual clinic locations.
    • Hospital Fees: If applicable, a hospital fee is usually based on the time needed in theatre and the time spent in recovery.
    • Anaesthetic Fees: This is the fee charged by the anaesthetist for the sedation and anaesthetic medications used during surgery.
    • Compression Garment Fees: This fee is for the compression garments supplied by Cosmos Aesthetics that all patients wear during the recovery period.

The prices mentioned are for general reference only and are not an exact price. For an accurate cost tailored to your specific needs, please contact us today to begin the process of receiving a quote for a Brazilian Butt Lift!

WHAT DOES BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION SURGERY INVOLVE

    Having the Procedure

How long does a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure take?

The length of time Vaser Liposuction with BBL fat grafting surgery can take will vary, from two to four hours on average. This time range is dependent on factors including the specific needs of the individual patient, the complexity and number of areas of the body being treated, and the amount of fat being transferred.

Is there downtime after Brazilian Butt Lift surgery?

Following buttock enhancement with fat injection surgery, it’s recommended to expect to need around 14 days off from work. The length of time needed to rest and recuperate will depend on factors such as your individual work requirements, and the areas of your body that were treated with Vaser Lipo.

To minimise post-procedure swelling and to support the best possible healing, you will need to wear compression garments for a minimum of six weeks following surgery. As the weeks progress, and the swelling fluctuations begin to stabilise, your results will become increasingly more visible. However, it’s important to understand that the final results of fat grafting surgery may take up to six months or longer to fully settle.

What can I expect after Brazilian Butt Lift surgery?

After undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift it is possible that the appearance of your buttocks might be slightly larger than expected. Due to an average of 85% of the transferred fat surviving the fat grafting process, the doctor may transfer a little bit more fat than required to account for possible fat cell death. As the weeks and months progress post-surgery, the initial swelling will gradually diminish, offering a clearer representation of the final appearance of your buttocks.

Post surgery you can expect bruising, swelling, and discomfort, which can be managed with pain relief medications as prescribed by your doctor. Adhering to the aftercare instructions, attending all scheduled follow up appointments, and conducting daily lymphatic drainage massages on all of the areas of your body treated, are crucial steps in the recovery process.

Can I sit down after a buttock lift with fat transfer?

During the recovery period following surgery, it is recommended to take precautions and avoid putting direct pressure on the buttock area. This assists the blood vessels with maintaining a steady circulation of blood supply to the transferred fat cells. Applying direct pressure to the buttocks, including sitting or sleeping on your back, may restrict the blood vessels, possibly impacting the final results.

If there are circumstances where sitting is necessary, Cosmos Aesthetics recommend using a specialised BBL pillow, as well as adjusting your posture by leaning forward on the thighs to reduce potential pressure being applied to the buttocks.

How much of the transferred fat will survive?

Before having a procedure it is essential to understand that not every transferred fat cell survives the transfer process. The survival rate of the fat cells injected in a buttock augmentation with Vaser Lipo, is on average greater than an 80 percent retention rate.

There are additional steps that a patient can take to support the injected fat. These measures include wearing the compression garments, avoiding putting direct pressure on the buttock area during the recovery period, and ensuring to maintain a stable weight.

Does a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure leave scars?

The procedure involves having liposuction and fat grafting, which both require small incisions. The visibility and healing of these scars largely depends on the skin type, genetics, and how each individual body typically heals. Over time, with proper care, the scars from surgery often become less noticeable.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT SURGERY

    Understanding the Procedure

What are some potential risks and side effects of buttock enhancement surgery?

A fat transfer to buttocks with Vaser Liposuction procedure is surgery, and all surgery involves risks, side effects, and possible complications, which can be permanent. Some of these potential side effects and complications from having fat grafting surgery can include, but are not limited to:

    • Excessive pain and aching
    • Bruising and bleeding
    • Persistent swelling
    • Infection
    • Asymmetry
    • Poor scarring
    • Skin discolouration and changes in skin sensation
    • Unsatisfactory results
    • Death of transferred fat cells, resulting in the need for revision surgery
    • Fat embolism or pulmonary embolism

During the consultations needed to have a surgical procedure at Cosmos Aesthetics, the doctor will review your medical history and motivation for wanting BBL surgery, including if you have realistic expectations about the results. The doctor will inform you in detail about the risks, complications, side effects, and recovery period of surgery. The areas of your body you are considering treating will be examined, and the doctor will discuss alternatives to having cosmetic surgery, as well as not having a procedure at all.

What is patient safety like with BBL surgery?

BBL surgery is now safer than having a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), which has a death rate of 1 in 13,000 (Del Vecchio et al, 2021).

The BBL mortality rate is constantly improving as doctors are becoming more experienced, and as of 2019, the BBL death rate was 1 in 14,952 (Rios & Gupta, 2020).

With a similar mortality reduction predicted using the improvements shown in liposuction and tummy tuck death rates as a guide, the BBL death rate will continue improving to 1 in 25,000 to 1 in 35,000 by 2025 (Del Vecchio et al, 2021).

Is a Brazilian Butt Lift with Vaser Lipo the same as buttock implants?

A BBL procedure with Vaser Liposuction uses the patient’s own fat cells, sourced from specific areas of the body, to increase the size and augment the shape of the buttocks. Whereas buttock implants are a plastic surgery procedure that uses silicone implants inserted into the buttock area to also improve the shape and size.

For patients who don’t have the amount of fat required for fat grafting, buttock implants or a Non-Surgical Butt Lift may be an option. If you’re contemplating buttock implants versus fat transfer with lipo, it’s essential to consult with a plastic surgeon and discuss the downtime, recovery period, and specific side effects of buttock implant surgery.

Can I get a BBL if I don’t have enough fat?

A minimum amount of fat is needed for buttock enhancement surgery. Patients without enough fat can potentially gain and maintain a higher weight if it’s healthy and feasible for them to do so. If gaining weight isn’t a viable option, other cosmetic procedures such as buttock implants or a Non-Surgical Butt Lift could be considered.

Can I use another person’s fat instead of my own for the fat injections?

It’s essential to understand that you can’t transfer fat from another person. Your body will know the injected fat cells are not your own, resulting in immediate rejection and tissue death. Injecting someone else’s fat can compromise your safety and can result in significant health issues.
