THE RESULTS
Liposuction performed under the arms is a suitable procedure for those who have developed excess fatty deposits and have struggled to reduce the unwanted fat through diet and exercise efforts alone. This is particularly common, as the armpit fat can be stubborn to target.
Armpit liposuction helps to improve any disproportionate appearance of your arms in comparison to the rest of the body. It can also help to restore a sense of comfort when wearing certain clothes that may have felt physically uncomfortable to wear due to the excess fat being placed in an awkward position, such as singlet tops or strapless tops and some styles of bras. As well as removing excess fat deposits, the procedure can assist in skin-tightening, avoiding the risk of leaving any sagging skin behind.
THE PROCEDURE
Liposuction under the arms decreases stubborn areas of fat that cannot be reduced with exercise and diet alone. Armpit fat removal can:
The armpit liposuction procedure at Cosmos Aesthetics is performed using Vaser Liposuction; the latest in liposuction techniques.
This technique uses ultrasound technology to help break down the fat into a smooth, liquid-like consistency, so that removal is much easier and does not require the brute force of the doctor to break down the fat. Vaser liposuction also tightens the skin, as the heat from the ultrasound energy contracts collagen fibres in the skin of the treated area.
Twilight sedation is used to perform the procedure, however, general anaesthetic is available upon request. It is up to you whether you want to use the time of the procedure to relax or to talk to our friendly nurses and doctors. The benefit of twilight sedation is that you can get up after the procedure so the results can be seen straight away. If anything needs to be corrected, it can be done then and there.
Liposuction under the arms usually takes about two hours when performed on its own. A compression garment is required to be worn afterwards to assist in the healing process and reduce any swelling.
At Cosmos Aesthetics, liposuction under the arms is generally well tolerated, as we use Vaser liposuction to perform the procedure. This advanced, modern technique results in less bruising, shorter recovery and more consistent results.
As your body is healing, it is normal to experience some swelling and some mild pain or discomfort during recovery. However, these side effects will subside faster than when recovering from an alternative procedure option that uses traditional methods of liposuction.
You will be given important recovery instructions in person. As a guide, these usually include to:
The costs of an armpit liposuction procedure will depend on the details of your procedure, which will vary from patient to patient in order to deliver a personalised treatment, creating the best results possible.
Vaser liposuction procedures typically start at $5,500. The costs are calculated based on:
Patients will have the option of treating other areas of the body at the same time as they are undergoing their armpit liposuction procedure, such as other areas of the arms, the abdomen, the back or more. Each additional treatment area will be added to the total costs of the procedure.
For more information on how our liposuction costs are calculated, you can visit our Costs of Liposuction page, or submit an enquiry so that one of our team members can assist you as soon as possible.
The best way to determine your total procedure costs is to book a consultation at your preferred location. Come in to either our Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide or Gold Coast clinics so that one of our friendly, experienced doctors can assess the features of your armpits and create a personalised procedure plan.
Although liposuction performed with Vaser technology reduces the typically associated risks and side effects of liposuction, the procedure will still carry some risks, as all cosmetic procedures inevitably do. Adhering to your recovery instructions, that will be provided to you by one of our experienced doctors or nurses, will help you reduce your chance of these side effects occurring, as well as better your chances of achieving your ideal results.
The associated risks and complications of armpit fat removal with liposuction include:
Many of these associated side effects, such as swelling or pain, are temporary and should subside soon after the procedure as the body heals. Other side effects can be treated with the right medical care, when reported to your doctor as soon as possible.
For more information, please contact Cosmos Aesthetics today, or book a consultation at one of our clinic locations, in either Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide or Gold Coast.

Locations available
During your consultation, you will be provided with preparation instructions that will be important to follow in order to ensure that you are in the best position to recover well and achieve optimal results. Generally, you will be asked to quit smoking for at least two weeks before the procedure date, and you may be asked to stop taking certain medications that can hinder the body’s healing process. A helpful tip is to purchase clothing that will be easy and comfortable to wear during your recovery, as receiving liposuction under the arms can temporarily limit mobility as the body heals. We also recommend that you organise for someone to pick you up from the hospital, as you won’t be able to drive home after the procedure.
Any pain felt during recovery typically subsides quite fast and can be manageable with prescription medication, if it is needed usually up to a week after surgery.
Not only does the ultrasound energy used in the Vaser liposuction method enable a greater fat removal than other methods, it can tighten the skin in the treated area, as well. This is because the heat from the ultrasound energy contracts collagen fibres and prompts the body’s natural skin-healing process, causing the skin to retract and conform to the new, slimmer shape of the treated area.
