THE PROCEDURE

Bringing science to the art of beauty

Recovery from a Blepharoplasty is relatively quick. Patients can expect to be reading within 2 to 3 days, back to work within 7 to 10 days and can resume the wear of contact lenses in 2 weeks or more (* may vary from patient to patient). Strenuous activity and alcohol intake are allowed after about 3 weeks. It will be several weeks before all bruising and swelling is gone. Keeping your head elevated will reduce swelling and bruising. Side effects may include temporary discomfort, tightness of lids, swelling, bruising, temporary dryness, burning, itching of eyes, excessive tearing and sensitivity to light for the first few weeks after treatment.

Eyelid Surgery is a procedure that removes fat, usually along with excess eyelid skin and muscle, from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below your eyes. These features can make you look older and more tired than you feel and may sometimes interfere with your vision. Eyelid Surgery won’t remove crow’s feet or other wrinkles. It won’t eliminate dark circles under your eyes or lift sagging eyebrows. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage. Blepharoplasty can be performed alone or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a Face Lift or Brow Lift.

Results usually last several years and are often long lasting*

FAQs

Frequently asked

Risks include temporary blurred or double vision, infection, bleeding, swelling at the corners of the eyelids, dry eyes, formation of whiteheads, slight asymmetry in healing or scarring, slight scars, difficulty in closing eyes completely (rarely permanent) and pulling down of the lower lids (may require further surgery).

When eyelid surgery is performed by a qualified doctor, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications, including infection or a reaction to the anaesthesia. You can reduce your risks by closely following your doctor’s instructions both before and after surgery.
