Everyone is born with beautiful, flawless skin. Due to years of cumulative sun exposure, genetic and lifestyle factors or illness, your skin can lose its smooth, youthful appearance. It’s possible to develop premature signs of ageing like wrinkles and poor texture, pigmentation issues, acne and acne scarring.
Although these conditions are not life-threatening, they can make you look older than your chronological age. Fortunately, there are a number of highly-effective and minimally-invasive treatments that can reverse some of the damage and restore your skin’s healthy appearance with minimal downtime and discomfort.
Benefits of Skin and Acne Treatment
Three fundamental changes occur at the cellular level that can cause skin to lose its healthy glow. These include: collagen breakdown resulting in lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity, skin trauma causing texture concerns such as pigmentation, acne, acne scars and finally volume loss due to disappearing fat pads and bone.
Skin and acne treatments successfully address two of these: collagen breakdown and skin trauma. The best approach to comprehensive skin rejuvenation is to combine multiple non-surgical procedures to achieve improvement in the following areas:
Texture and Plumpness
We have been successfully using anti-aging modalities such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Skin Needling (Also Collagen Induction Therapy) and Fractional Laser to promote collagen synthesis for smoother skin. Patients often experience some improvement in skin texture, firmness and wrinkles after one session; however, a series of treatments are recommended for the best outcome. Once the desired correction has been achieved, results can last for several years or longer.
Acne and Acne Scars
Our expertise is using a multifaceted approach to acne and acne scars. First we address the underlying cause of active acne (clogged pores, bacteria and inflammation) by combining Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) with Blue Laser and topical treatments to control acne breakouts. Then we target pigmentation (post-inflammatory) and texture issues (raised or depressed scars) with laser, dermal filler and/or skin-needling for smoother and blemish-free looking skin.
Pigmentation and Vascular Issues
Whether you have excess pigment in your skin (hyperpigmentation), vascular concerns (broken capillaries, rosacea) or both, we can improve your skin’s appearance with BBL™ (Broadband Light) treatments. This technology removes both brown and red pigment, evening out your skin tone while rejuvenating the skin on a cellular level. Melasma is a pigmentation disorder that’s a little more complex but it can be effectively controlled with injections of Tranexamic Acid.
SKIN & ACNE QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Who performs skin and acne treatments?
Depending on the procedure, it may be performed by one of our Cosmetic Practitioners or registered nurses. We only hire experienced and skilled medical professionals here at Cosmos Clinic so you are always in good hands.
Am I a good candidate for skin and acne treatments?
If you have active acne, acne scars, pigmentation, broken capillaries or premature skin ageing then you’re an excellent candidate for most of our minimally-invasive skin and acne treatments. We invite you to schedule a consultation with one of our medical professionals to discuss your specific concerns.
How much do skin and acne treatments cost?
Treatments can range from several hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on your skin condition and the level of correction desired. During your personalised consultation our experts will discuss all the costs up front so that you can plan your budget accordingly.
Is there one procedure that can treat both skin and acne?
Although some treatments like chemical peels and lasers can address both skin and acne at the same time, it’s best to use a combination approach for best results. If you suffer from moderate to severe cystic acne, for example, we recommend an acne treatment such as Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) first to get your acne breakouts under control before addressing other issues.
Can I have skin and acne treatments while I’m pregnant?
We generally don’t recommend having any medical cosmetic treatments done while you’re pregnant or breast feeding. For more information on whether any of our treatments can be safely performed during pregnancy, we recommend that you discuss it with one of our medical professionals.
