Lower Face Liposuction

Lower Face Liposuction is a minimally invasive alternative to a full blown Face Lift Surgery. It is performed to reverse signs of ageing in the lower face to create a more youthful, defined jawline. Lower Face Liposuction involves a cosmetic doctor inserting a fine ultrasound probe underneath the skin.

The Vaser probe uses ultrasound energy to melt fat cells and tighten the collagen fibres in the skin. This results in an improvement to your jowls and overall face shape.

Saggy jowls occur for three reasons: Fat pads from your cheeks move south towards your jowls Skin becomes saggy Muscles in the neck area pull the jowls down more tightly The Vaser probe will help tighten the skin by causing the contraction of the collagen fibres, as well as melting the fat pads that cause heavy jowls.

Wrinkle Reduction Treatments can be applied along the jaw line and in the neck to help prevent additional pulling on the neck muscles. All of these treatments together provide you with a number of ways to improve your jowls (without a traditional face lift).

This cosmetic surgery involves a light sedation and numbing to the area with local anaesthesia. A tiny incision is made under the neck and behind the ear to allow the insertion of the Vaser probe. The probe is then moved back and forth in the area to raise the temperature to 38-40 degrees.

This will help contract the collagen fibres to tighten the skin and melt the fat cells. There is minimal discomfort, and it takes only 30-60 minutes to complete.

This facelift technique is performed under twilight sedation and local anaesthetic. This minimises any pain or discomfort you might feel.

It is a walk in, walk out procedure and most people only need 1 – 2 days off work. You can get some slight swelling for up to a week. Bruising is usually minimal and pain can be controlled with pain relief medication

Lower Face Liposuction stimulates the formation of new collagen fibres. This allows the skin to retract; resulting in tighter, firmer skin

The results are 50 -80% of what you can expect with a traditional face lift, although can vary from patient to patient. Results are generally seen after 6 weeks, once all swelling has subsided.

Studies have shown that Vaser technology has less complications compared to other UAL methods. There are inherent risks and complications as there are with any surgery. You should be aware of the potential risks and discuss any concerns you may have with your doctor before your surgery is performed.

Patients over 40 years of age with saggy jowls are the most common group to get the Vaser Face Lift. This demographic are good candidates from this liposuction surgery. With that said, younger patients can get this liposuction procedure to melt fat pads that make them look like they have chubby cheeks.
