    THE PROCEDURE

Minimally invasive procedure that slims the face and tightens the skin

This cosmetic surgery involves a light sedation and numbing to the area with local anaesthesia. A tiny incision is made under the neck and behind the ear to allow the insertion of the Vaser probe. The probe is then moved back and forth in the area to raise the temperature to 38-40 degrees. This will help contract the collagen fibres to tighten the skin and melt the fat cells. There is minimal discomfort, and it takes only 30-60 minutes to complete.

It is a walk in, walk out procedure and most people only need one week off work. You can get some slight swelling for up to a week.  Bruising is usually minimal and pain can be controlled with pain relief medication.

Lower Face Liposuction treatment prices vary depending on your overall situation and expectations.

    • Lower Face Liposuction prices start from $4,400
    • Initial consultation is between $120 – $330

Your initial Lower Face Liposuction consultation and subsequent procedure can be undertaken at one of our cosmetic clinics in Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide or the Gold Coast. We also treat many interstate and overseas patients each year at Cosmos Aesthetics.  Therefore, we have set procedures in place for those travelling to our clinics for treatment. For travelling patients please use the contact form located at the bottom of this page to send us images of the areas you wish to have treated, which Cosmos Aesthetics you’d like treatment at, and where you’re located in the description so our staff can include all the appropriate information for travelling patients as part of your personalised quote.

    Facial Liposuction Recovery

As a minimally invasive procedure, you will return home on the same day as your facial liposuction procedure. Some mild pain and discomfort is common, particularly in the neck area, however, this can be relieved with pain medications. You will need to wear a compression garment full time for around one week and then nightly for another two weeks. Overall, recovery is relatively quick, and most patients can return to work after one week. We also advise sleeping with your head elevated for at least two weeks. To optimise your recovery process, become familiar with the do’s of Liposuction recovery:

    • Do wear your liposuction compression garments
    • Do maintain a healthy diet
    • Do listen to your body
    • Do take care of your surgical sites
    • Do attend post-surgical checkups

    Why do saggy jowls occur?

Saggy jowls occur for three reasons:

    • Fat pads from your cheeks move south  towards your jowls
    • Skin becomes saggy
    • Muscles in the neck area pull the jowls down more tightly

The Vaser probe will help tighten the skin by causing the contraction of the collagen fibres, as well as melting the fat pads that cause heavy jowls. Wrinkle Reduction Treatments can be applied along the jaw line and in the neck to help prevent additional pulling on the neck muscles. All of these treatments together provide you with a number of ways to improve your jowls (without a traditional  face lift).

How much does facial liposuction cost?

At Cosmos Aesthetics, we know that cost plays a huge role in your decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. However, facial liposuction does not fit a one price fits all strategy, as every patient is different. The cost of your lower face liposuction can vary depending on factors such as:

    • The areas of the face treated
    • The amount of fat removed
    • The body type of the patient
    • The type of anaesthetic used
    • The amount of time spent in surgery

Our lower face liposuction procedures start from around $5,500. If you wish to treat other areas of the face, for example, the neck, or combine your facial liposuction with body liposuction, you can expect these costs to increase. To receive the most accurate face liposuction quote, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our Cosmos Aesthetics doctors.

    What is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser is a modern liposuction technique that uses different methods compared to traditional liposuction. Vaser uses ultrasound energy to heat and liquefy the fat cells, making them easier to remove from the body, resulting in less pain and quicker recovery times.

What happens to the skin after Lower Face Liposuction?

Thanks to the heat delivered by the Vaser ultrasound probe, lower face liposuction has the added benefit of stimulating new collagen fibres. This helps the skin to retract after surgery, resulting in tighter, firmer skin. At Cosmos Aesthetics, liposuction is the ultimate facial rejuvenation procedure, as it both reduces stubborn fat and tightens the skin.

Am I a suitable candidate for face liposuction?

You may be a suitable candidate for facial liposuction if you fit the following criteria:

    • You are in good physical and mental health
    • You are bothered by the appearance of stubborn fat in the lower face, such as the cheeks, chin and jawline
    • You have realistic expectations regarding what facial liposuction can achieve
    • You are prepared to follow healthy diet and exercise habits after surgery to maintain your results
    • You have good skin elasticity
    • You do not smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery

The best way to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for liposuction to the face is to meet with our Cosmos Aesthetics doctors for a consultation.

When will I see the results of my procedure?

Swelling is very common after liposuction, even with the strict use of a compression device. While you may begin to see some improvements after the first week, it can take several weeks for swelling to subside entirely. Your final results will be visible after six months.

Are lower face liposuction results permanent?

Once your fat cells have been removed, they will never return. Despite that, your remaining fat cells can still expand, so we recommend maintaining your post-lipo weight after surgery to ensure your results remain stable. Keep in mind that liposuction does not stop the ageing process, and you may still experience sagging skin and loss of facial fat over time.

Is facial liposuction the same as liposuction to the body?

Yes, facial liposuction follows the same principles as liposuction on other areas of the body. The only real difference is the amount of fat removed. During a facial liposuction procedure, your doctor will only remove a few ounces of fat, whereas body liposuction may remove several litres.

What should I do to prepare for my face liposuction procedure?

During your consultation, your Cosmos Aesthetics doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions. You will be asked to quit smoking and avoid certain medications and supplements, to avoid surgical complications. We also recommend taking steps before surgery to prepare for your recovery. This may include purchasing some comfortable clothing, filling prescriptions, preparing some healthy meals and arranging for someone to pick you up from the hospital after the procedure.

    Is the procedure painful?

During the procedure, you will be placed under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia, so you should feel little pain or discomfort. Any post-operative discomfort can be relieved with medications prescribed by your doctor.

What are the risks and side effects associated with facial liposuction?

Studies have shown that Vaser technology has fewer complications compared to other liposuction techniques. However, there are still some inherent risks, as with any surgical procedure. Some of the potential side effects to be aware of include:

    • Pain and aching
    • Bruising and bleeding
    • Persistent swelling
    • Asymmetry
    • Skin irregularities
    • Poor scarring
    • Nausea
    • Numbness
