Using Vaser Liposuction technology, unwanted fat cells can be removed from the lower face and jowls of suitable candidates. Having a liposuction procedure can reduce these localised fat deposits for a visibly slimmer appearance of the face.
What happens during a lower face liposuction procedure?
Vaser Liposuction technology uses ultrasound energy to melt stubborn fat cells and target unwanted fat deposits in the jowls and lower face area of suitable candidates.
Depending on the personalised needs of each individual, most patients undergo a Vaser Liposuction procedure using IV sedation, either twilight anaesthesia or general anaesthesia, in combination with a local anaesthetic numbing solution in each treatment area.
Small incisions are made behind the ears and under the chin, before each area is numbed with local anaesthesia infiltrated into the tissue. A specialised Vaser Liposuction probe is introduced via these tiny incisions, to break down and liquify the stubborn fat cells, before they are suctioned out of the body through a cannula. The ultrasound energy utilised by Vaser Lipo technology, can enhance skin tightening and stimulate the retraction of the collagen fibres located in the fatty tissue.
What other areas of the body can be treated with Vaser Liposuction?
When treating the face with Vaser Liposuction, suitable patients may also wish to treat other areas. Chin lipo and neck liposuction are combined together, to remove the small pocket of fat localised under the chin where the double chin area meets the neck. There are also options to treat other areas of the body, such as the stomach and love handles. REMOVE UNWANTED FAT FROM THE LOWER FACE
Considering the Procedure
Who is a good candidate for face lipo?
Suitability for a procedure is determined by the doctor during the initial consultations, and not all patients considering lower face liposuction surgery are suitable candidates. The doctor will consider multiple factors; however it is essential to understand these examples are just a guide, and they do not guarantee suitability:
Have good physical and mental health.
Maintain a healthy diet and exercise.
Have adequate levels for fat removal in the lower face, jowls, chin, and neck.
Have good skin elasticity, with no significant loose skin or excess skin in the areas.
Understand the results from having lower face lipo, are not the same as the results that can be achieved from a face lift or neck lift, performed by a plastic surgeon.
What can cause saggy jowls to develop?
Unwanted sagging of the skin in the lower face area and jowls may also be referred to as pre-jowl sulcus. These localised fat pads can develop with age from the cheeks sagging downwards as your skin naturally loses volume and collagen. Additionally, the neck muscles may also become weaker over time, which can make the appearance of saggy jowls more noticeable.
How much does lower face liposuction cost?
At Cosmos Clinic Sydney, we understand that the price of cosmetic surgery is something potential patients can consider when contemplating having Vaser Liposuction. As each patient is different, there is no standardised pricing to have liposuction. In general, the price for a procedure starts from a minimum base price of $5,000, with additional areas charged at a smaller rate, starting from a minimum $2,000. The total cost of surgery is determined during the initial consultations with your doctor, and will vary depending on multiple factors including:
If other areas of the face, jowls, chin, and neck, are being treated.
The amount of fat to be removed.
The type of IV sedation being used, either twilight sedation or general anaesthetic.
If additional areas of the body are also being treated with liposuction.
Do I need to prepare for a face liposuction procedure?
During your initial consultations, our doctors at Cosmos Clinic Sydney will provide you with detailed pre and post-operative information tailored to suit your individual needs. Patients who smoke, must cease smoking in the lead up to the procedure and throughout the recovery period. You will also need to organise for a responsible adult to collect your after surgery to stay with you overnight and all the next day.
Is there any downtime after having face liposuction in Sydney NSW?
After facial liposuction, you’ll be able to go home on the same day you have the procedure. Throughout the recovery period all patients are required to wear a compression garment for at least 72 hours full-time, and then part-time for a minimum three weeks. The longer you are able to wear your garments after surgery the better. Sleeping with your head elevated on multiple pillows for at least two weeks post-procedure is also recommended, as it can help to minimise additional swelling from sleeping flat.
How long is the recovery period after Vaser Lipo?
It is recommended to refrain from intense physical activity and strenuous exercise for approximately six weeks post-procedure. Bruising and swelling will fluctuate over the following weeks and subside with time. Whilst most patients can typically resume their normal daily activities around 5 days after surgery, this can vary based on multiple individual factors. It’s important to note this recovery example is only a guide and is not a guarantee. Your projected recovery time, tailored to your specific needs, will be discussed in detail during your consultations with the doctor.
When will I see the results from my procedure?
After undergoing Vaser Liposuction on the lower face area, the initial results and visible rejuvenation of the area typically begins to show around 2 months post-procedure. However, it’s important to understand that individual experiences vary, and for some patients, their final results can continue to develop and improve for up to 6 months following.
Are there any risks or side effects from having face lipo?
Vaser Lipo is a surgical procedure, and all invasive procedures have risks, side effects, and potential complications which must always be considered. Your Cosmos Clinic Sydney doctor will discuss all of the possible side effects in depth during your initial consultations, these risks can include but are not limited to:
Bruising and bleeding.
Pain and aching.
Asymmetry or an uneven appearance.
Numbness and changes in skin sensation.
Loose skin that doesn’t retract or tighten.
Skin irregularities, fibrosis, scar tissue.
The potential need for additional plastic surgery procedures such as a face lift or neck lift with a plastic surgeon.
Does lower face lipo leave scars?
Scarring is always a potential risk when having any procedure requiring incisions sites. The small incisions needed for facial liposuction surgery are placed behind each ear and under the chin. Depending on each individual patient, these tiny incision sites will usually fade over time, and specialised silicone scar creams can also be used.
Are the results from liposuction surgery permanent?
For suitable candidates, Vaser Lipo can effectively reduce the number of fat cells in each area being treated. However, it’s essential that all potential patients understand that there will always be fat cells remaining in each area of the body treated. These remaining fat cells can increase and decrease in size with weight gain and weight loss. Additionally, over time, everyone will see facial fat pad changes and experience skin sagging in their lower face areas, including the cheeks, jowls, chin, and neck. Having Vaser Lipo does not stop the natural ageing process from continuing to occur.
Will a liposuction procedure give me a defined jawline?
Undergoing a cosmetic procedure such as lower face liposuction removes the unwanted fat from the lower face and jowls. Although Vaser Lipo can remove the excess fat from these areas, it’s not a treatment designed to specifically create a defined jawline. Achieving a strong, visibly defined jawline is most often the result of using a combination of treatments, including thick dermal fillers, jawline implants, and chin implants.
