Tighten the skin and melt the excess fat in the neck with a procedure that is minimally invasive and can effectively treat the dreaded turkey neck and stubborn double chin. This is an alternative to formal neck lift surgery if you have excessive amounts of loose skin around the neck.
This new technology involves the use of an ultra-thin fibre that is placed just below the surface of the skin. The laser energy heats up the all-important “collagen and elastin” fibres and causes them to contract. Simultaneously, the probe melts small fatty deposits and suctions it out of the body as a form of fat removal. Results of the surgery continue to improve over the following 6 to 12 weeks post-surgery. You will also see a significant improvement to the overall skin quality.
Improve, tighten and smooth out your neckline without the need for a full neck lift
Neck Liposuction/Lift involves the insertion of a fine ultrasound probe under the skin. The Vaser probe uses ultrasound energy to melt fat cells and tighten the collagen fibres underneath the skin. This results in an improvement in the jawline and neck area – removing excess fat and tightening sagging skin. The major advantage of this Neck Liposuction/Lift treatment is that it eliminates fat deposits whilst tightening your skin at the very same time. This tightening effect basically eliminates the need for a lift surgery, as the neckline is picked up and smoothed.
Neck Liposuction/Lift treatment prices vary depending on your overall situation and expectations.
Neck Lift prices start from $4,400
Initial consultation is between $120 – $330
Your initial Neck Liposuction/Lift consultation and subsequent procedure can be undertaken at one of our cosmetic clinics in Australia. We also treat many interstate and overseas patients each year at Cosmos Clinic. Therefore, we have set procedures in place for those travelling to our clinics for treatment. For travelling patients please use the contact form located at the bottom of this page to send us images of the areas you wish to have treated, which Cosmos Clinic you’d like treatment at, and where you’re located in the description so our staff can include all the appropriate information for travelling patients as part of your personalised quote.
The procedure takes about 1 hour and is carried out under twilight sedation. Consequently, because general anaesthesia isn’t used, the procedure is considered more safe with minimal side effects or pain. After the treatment, patients can usually get back to their routine activities within a day or two. You will have swelling for about 3 to 7 days post-op with minimal bruising (although this may vary from patient to patient). You will also need to wear a compression garment for 3 days full time, and then another 7 days part time.
As we age, a loss of collagen and elastin production results in visible changes to the face and neck. In particular, the most common signs of an ageing neck include the development of vertical muscle bands, sagging skin and excess fat deposits. Unfortunately, the ageing process is unavoidable, and everyone will experience such changes in time.
In the centre of our necks is a pair of muscles, known as the platysma muscles. These muscles begin to separate and descend downward in the neck with age, causing those two vertical lines you often see running down the neck. As the platysma muscles descend and the skin starts to sag, more room is available for excess fat deposits to accumulate in the neck. The result is often a heavy-looking neck and the appearance of an undefined jawline and double chin. If this is of concern to you, Vaser liposuction is the ideal solution.
Benefits of Vaser Neck Liposuction
At Cosmos Clinic, we use Vaser technology for all of our liposuction procedures. This offers a number of benefits over traditional liposuction, including:
Melt Unwanted Fat: Vaser uses ultrasound energy to melt fat in the neck, before removing it from the body. This makes the fat easier to remove from the body, giving you smoother results.
More Gentle Than Other Liposuction Techniques: As fat is liquefied before removal, Vaser is considered much more gentle than traditional liposuction. As a result, you can expect less pain, reduced bruising and a much faster recovery time so that you can enjoy your new neck contour sooner.
Promotes Skin Tightening: In addition to removing stubborn fat, the heat generated by the Vaser probe also contracts collagen fibres for skin tightening benefits. With Vaser, you won’t need to worry about being left with excess skin after the procedure.
Neck Liposuction Recovery
Since neck liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure, no hospital stay is required, and you can return home within a few hours after surgery. Mild pain and discomfort are common after neck liposuction, however, your doctor will prescribe medications to help relieve this. To minimise swelling and promote healing, you will need to wear a compression garment full time for around three days and then nightly for another week. We also recommend that you sleep with your head elevated for at least two weeks after surgery.
Ultimately, recovery from liposuction to the neck is relatively quick, and most patients can return to work after one week. To optimise healing, become familiar with the do’s of liposuction recovery:
Do wear your liposuction compression garments
Do listen to your body
Do take care of your surgical sites
Do maintain a healthy diet
Do attend post-surgical checkups
How much does neck liposuction cost?
We understand that cost plays a major role in your decision to have cosmetic surgery. However, every patient is different, and the cost of your neck liposuction procedure can vary depending on factors such as:
The amount of fat removed
The type of anaesthetic used
The body type of the patient
The amount of time spent in surgery
At Cosmos Clinic, our neck liposuction procedures start at $4,400. However, if you wish to treat other areas of the face, such as the cheeks or chin, or combine your procedure with body liposuction, you can expect this price to increase. If you would like a more accurate neck liposuction quote, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our Cosmos Clinic doctors.
Why choose Cosmos Clinic?
At Cosmos Clinic, we’re all about liposuction. In the last ten years, we’ve performed over 15,000 liposuction procedures Australia-wide. We were even the first practice in New South Wales to own a Vaser Liposuction machine, which we now use to reduce excess fat and reverse signs of age in the neck.
What is Vaser Liposuction?
Vaser is an advanced method of liposuction that offers a gentler approach than traditional liposuction techniques. This technique uses ultrasound energy to break apart fat cells and tighten the skin. During the procedure, an ultrasound probe is inserted into the fat layer to heat and liquefy fat cells, which makes them easier to remove from the body. With Vaser liposuction, patients can expect less pain and faster recovery times.
What can I expect during my neck liposuction procedure?
You will be placed under twilight sedation during your neck liposuction procedure. To further numb the neck and prevent bleeding during surgery, your Cosmos Clinic doctor will inject a saline solution mixed with a local anaesthetic into the treatment area. Once you are numb, your doctor will make a small incision in the neck to insert the Vaser probe, which is moved back and forth to heat and liquefy the unwanted fat cells. The generated heat will also contract collagen fibres to tighten any lax skin. As the tissue is broken apart, your doctor will use a cannula to vacuum the fat out of your neck.
Am I a suitable candidate for liposuction to the neck?
If you fit the following criteria, you may be a potential candidate for liposuction to the neck:
You are bothered by signs of ageing in the neck, such as unwanted fat deposits and sagging skin
You are in good physical and mental health
You have realistic expectations of what liposuction to the neck can achieve
You are willing to follow healthy exercise and diet habits after the procedure to maintain results
You have good natural skin elasticity
You are not a smoker, or you are prepared to stop in the weeks before and after surgery
Ultimately, the best way to determine whether you are suitable for this procedure is to organise a consultation with our Cosmos Clinic doctors.
How do I prepare for my neck liposuction procedure?
When you come in for a consultation, your Cosmos Clinic doctor will provide clear pre-operative instructions. To avoid surgical complications, such as bleeding and prolonged healing, you will be asked to quit smoking and avoid certain medications and supplements. We also recommend taking steps before surgery to ensure your recovery is as smooth as possible. This could include purchasing some comfortable clothing, filling any needed prescriptions, preparing some healthy meals and arranging for someone to pick you up from the hospital after surgery.
Is neck liposuction painful?
Your neck liposuction procedure will be performed under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia, so you should not feel any pain or discomfort. While post-operative discomfort is to be expected, you can alleviate this with medications prescribed by your doctor.
How long does it take to see results?
Swelling after liposuction to the neck is very common, even if you wear your compression garment correctly. While you will notice a slimmer neck after around a week, it can take several weeks for swelling to fully subside. Over time, your results will gradually improve, with your final result being visible at around six months.
Are results permanent?
Once fat cells are removed, they will not return. However, your remaining fat cells can still expand, which is why we recommend maintaining your post-lipo weight after surgery. You should also keep in mind that liposuction does not prevent further ageing, so you will likely experience further sagging skin and neck bands over time.
Will I have sagging neck skin after a liposuction procedure?
Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound heat to melt fat cells, which has the added advantage of stimulating new collagen. As such, sagging skin is rare after neck liposuction, as the procedure actually promotes tighter, firmer skin. We consider liposuction to be the ultimate neck rejuvenation procedure, as it both reduces stubborn fat and tightens lax skin.
What is the difference between liposuction to the neck and liposuction to the body?
Neck liposuction is the same as liposuction to the body, except that less fat is removed during the procedure. Your doctor will only remove a few ounces of fat during your neck liposuction procedure, while body liposuction usually removes several litres.
What are the risks and side effects associated with neck liposuction?
Overall, Vaser liposuction is associated with fewer complications than traditional liposuction. However, there are still some potential risks to be aware of, including:
