Sick of seeing a double chin in your photos? Is excess fat causing your jawline and jowls to sag?

Cosmetic surgery, including Vaser Liposuction/Lift, offers an alternative to more invasive procedures like a neck lift for those seeking to enhance their jawline. The extent of improvement varies between individuals, and the results can be seen in our before and after gallery.

The cause of double chins and sagging jowls

Stubborn fat cells, turkey necks and sagging skin around the neck and chin area are complaints we hear all too often at Cosmos Aesthetics.

Almost everyone will experience sagging jowls as they age. Over time, the skin around your cheeks and jawline loses elastin and collagen. These connective tissue proteins are responsible for skin’s structure and integrity. A loss in collagen and elastin results in a loss in the tightness and tone of your skin leading to sagging.

It’s not just age that can lead to a loss in collagen and elastin. Weight loss, smoking, sunlight exposure, facial expressions and genetics are all factors in when this protein depletes and how significantly.

A double chin is also very common. This is less about aging, but more about the development of excess fat below the chin area. The unwanted fat is referred to as submental fat and is often linked to weight gain. However, you don’t necessarily need to be overweight to suffer from a double chin. Fat cells may increase in the area, genetics and/or loose skin can cause the issue.

Vaser Liposuction transforms facial appearances

For patients with sagging jawlines, plastic surgery was usually the answer. A lower rhytidectomy, also known as a neck lift, is one of the surgical procedures performed under general anesthesia. Small incisions are made to allow for the removal of excess fat, tightening of the neck muscles and rearrangement of the skin to define the jawline.

Other patients may opt for a full facelift to improve the appearance of the face and neck in the one surgical procedure.

However, for people wanting less invasive procedures or younger patients who aren’t looking for a full facelift, Neck Liposuction/Lift is an effective solution. Not only is it performed under twilight sedation, but the cosmetic procedure only lasts about 1 hour and requires minimal downtime and bruising.

Vaser Liposuction of the neck involves melting small fatty deposits through the Vaser probe. Most only need a small amount (approximately 50mLs) of excess fat to shape the jawline and get rid of the double chin, once and for all!

Beyond fat reduction, the ultrasound energy aids the tightening of collagen fibres underneath the skin. The heating of the collagen and elastin proteins causes them to contract which results in skin tightening around the jawline and neck area.

Results in the lower face area may be noticeable after the procedure, with improvements typically continuing for up to 12 weeks as swelling decreases. Our before and after gallery showcases various outcomes, demonstrating how the procedure has impacted individuals’ facial appearance. Keep in mind that results can vary significantly between patients.

Along with a good skincare regime, patients also experience improvements in their overall skin quality and complexion. Neck Liposuction isn’t just reserved for the ladies, both men and women with stubborn double chins and sagging necklines are enjoying the benefits of this cosmetic treatment.
