Vaser Liposuction is an advanced liposuction procedure for sculpting all areas of the body. It can slim down the tummy, love handles, arms, legs (inner thighs) and neck. It can also be used for man boobs (gynecomastia), breast reduction and chubby cheeks.
Patients can see a permanent improvement in body shape after Vaser Liposuction – fat is distributed more evenly as excess fat cells have been removed.
Skin tightening is also possible with Vaser Liposuction thanks to the Vaser ultrasound technology. The heat energy from the VASER helps to tighten the skin. Studies have shown that VASER results in over 50% more skin tightening than traditional liposuction. In patients with thin skin additional skin tightening may be achieved with Renuvion.
For those not wanting a surgical procedure, then subtle shape changes may be achieved with a non-surgical device called CoolSculpting.
Vaser Liposuction Gently Melts Fat and Tightens Skin for Smooth, Natural Results
During the Vaser Liposuction procedure, patients are placed under twilight sedation. This eliminates the need for general anesthesia and the adverse effects associated with it. General anaesthetic is available upon request.
Tiny incisions are made to allow a numbing solution to be administered under the skin. The solution also acts as a medium for the high-energy ultrasound to break down fatty tissue.
To minimise any scarring from this surgical procedure, incisions are placed in discreet areas such as in the belly button or near the bikini line in the case of tummy liposuction.
Next, a small ultrasound probe or cannula is inserted under the skin to dissolve the fat cells and make the suctioning process easier. Vaser Liposuction transforms the “brick” of fat into a soft material (much like melting a slab of butter) to facilitate the removal of fat.
Vaser Liposuction allows a more even removal of fatty tissue than traditional liposuction as it’s less likely to leave clumps of fat. The ultrasound-assisted energy also stimulates collagen production, promoting skin tightening in the treatment area. Studies have shown that VASER liposuction results in over 50% more skin tightening than traditional liposuction.1
To achieve optimal results, patients may be re-positioned during the procedure so that the doctor can assess the fat removal from different angles.
Before being discharged, patients will be thoroughly assessed and fitted into compression garments. To promote a speedy recovery and prevent complications, patients will be monitored with regular follow-up appointments, including lymphatic massage to help with any swelling side-effects.

Recovery and What to Expect After Vaser Lipo Procedure
Since Vaser Liposuction is performed under twilight sedation, all patients can return home on the same day. Patients leave the clinic wearing a compression garment to help with the healing process, skin retraction and to minimise swelling. There may be fluid seepage for 5 -10 days following the procedure. The compression garments are worn for three weeks full-time and then three weeks part-time. In most cases, the recovery from Vaser Liposuction has minimal bruising although a haematoma can may occur. The doctors will provide you with pain killers to help with the discomfort. Ensure that you take the pain medications as required so you can mobilise. Early gentle mobilising will help to reduce the swelling and the risk of a blood clot.
Most patients can return to work one week after the procedure. At Cosmos Clinic, we assist in the recovery process with regular follow-up lymphatic massages, twice a week for two weeks. This assists the healing process and produces better results. To optimise your recovery process, become familiar with the do’s of Liposuction recovery:
Do wear your liposuction compression garments
Do maintain a healthy diet
Do listen to your body and mobilise
Do take care of your surgical sites
Do attend post surgical check ups
Most of the results are become noticeable at the six week mark. At this point, photos are taken to assess your progress. The final results may not be apparent for 3–6 months post procedure. Strict adherence to the preoperative and postoperative instructions is necessary in order to achieve the best possible results.
*Results may vary from patient to patient. **All photos are of patients from Cosmos Clinic, and all ‘after’ images are taken 6 weeks post operation.
