Patients can see a permanent improvement in body shape after Vaser Liposuction – fat is distributed more evenly as excess fat cells have been removed.
Skin-tightening is another benefit of Vaser Liposuction thanks to its Vaser ultrasound technology.1 For patients who have a lot of sagging skin, however, we recommend pairing Vaser Liposuction with our Renuvion Skin Tightening treatments.
We also offer another non-surgical liposuction procedure called CoolSculpting.
A general anaesthetic is usually not required with Vaser Liposuction. Patients are normally placed under twilight sedation, which means they’re awake but don’t feel any pain. Not going under general anaesthetic reduces the chances of developing the complications associated with cosmetic surgery. (Note: a general anaesthetic is available upon request).
Vaser Liposuction involves making small incisions through which numbing solution is administered under the skin. The solution also acts as a medium that allows the high-energy ultrasound to break down stubborn fat. Surgical incisions are placed in discreet areas such as in the belly button or near the bikini line in the case of tummy liposuction.
Next, a small ultrasound probe or cannula is inserted under the skin to dissolve the fat cells and make the suction process easier. Vaser Liposuction transforms the “brick” of fat into a soft material (much like melting a slab of butter) to facilitate the removal of fat.
The biggest benefit of Vaser Liposuction is that the fat removal process is easier and less invasive than traditional liposuction. The numbing solution turns the fat into a homogeneous liquid that’s much less likely to clump. The ultrasound energy also stimulates collagen production, promoting skin tightening in the treatment area.2 This results in smoother contours and prevents skin dimpling and sagging.
To achieve the smoothest results possible, patients may be re-positioned during the procedure. This allows the doctor to assess and remove fatty tissue from different angles.
After the Vaser Liposuction Procedure, patients will be thoroughly assessed and fitted with a compression garment. After being discharged, patients will also be monitored with regular follow-up appointments and lymphatic drainage massage to reduce side effects and speed up the recovery process.

Your initial Vaser Liposuction consultation and subsequent procedure can be undertaken at our cosmetic clinic in Adelaide, Australia.
We treat many interstate as well as overseas plastic surgery patients each year at Cosmos Clinic. To ensure utmost professionalism and consistency, we have developed a set of procedures for our out-of-town patients. For those travelling to see us, we ask that you send images of the areas you wish to have treated, which Cosmos Clinic you prefer and where you are located. This will allow our staff to include all the necessary information as part of your personalised quote.
Unlike traditional liposuction, there is no overnight stay required with Vaser Liposuction. Since it’s performed under twilight sedation, all patients can return home the same day. To speed up the healing process, patients will leave the clinic wearing compression garments. This also helps with skin retraction and minimises swelling. There may be fluid seepage for 3-5 days following the procedure, which is perfectly normal. The compression garments are worn for three weeks full-time and then three weeks part-time. In most cases, the recovery from Vaser Liposuction is minimal, although some minor bruising may occur.
Most patients can return to work one week after treatment. Regular follow-up and lymphatic drainage massage are performed twice a week for two weeks to help the recovery process. Most of the results become noticeable six weeks after Vaser liposuction. At this point, photos are taken to assess your progress. The final results may not be apparent until three to six months post-procedure.
Strict adherence to the preoperative and postoperative instructions is necessary in order to achieve the best possible results. To optimise your recovery, please become familiar with the following do’s of liposuction recovery:
*Results may vary from patient to patient.
**All photos are of patients from Cosmos Clinic, and all ‘after’ images are taken 6 weeks post operation.

The development of male breasts can impact the confidence of many men. Vaser liposuction at Cosmos Clinic can remove excess fat and glandular tissue to create a more muscular male chest.

Many people, especially those of Asian descent, are genetically predisposed to facial fat, which often gives what is referred to as a “chipmunk appearance”. To combat this, Vaser liposuction can sculpt the face and create a more youthful look.
With age, fat deposits often begin to develop in the jawline, jowls and neck area, sometimes leading to a “wattle neck”. Vaser liposuction can remove fat deposits from the lower face and neck to achieve a more youthful facial contour.
Overly large breasts can cause discomfort, exercise difficulties and backaches, and affect the confidence of many women. Breast reduction via liposuction can not only remove excess fat from this area but create a lift for a more youthful, proportionate figure. Although this minimally invasive alternative is an excellent option for many women, we suggest having a consultation with our Adelaide liposuction doctors to determine whether you are better suited to liposuction or a traditional breast reduction.
The development of man boobs can disrupt the confidence of many men. As this is often genetically predetermined, exercise will do little to address male breasts. To regain confidence and achieve a more athletic, masculine chest, Vaser liposuction can remove both fat and glandular tissue from this area.
Many patients struggle with arm fat around the triceps (backs of the arms) and laterals (sides of the arms). By removing unwanted fat from these areas via liposuction, you can enjoy a slimmer, more proportionate arm contour.
Fat distribution on the back can be divided into two areas: the upper back (above the bra line) and the lower back (below the bra line). Back fat is often resistant to exercise efforts and, due to the fibrous nature of the fat, it can also be tricky to treat with liposuction. With our Vaser liposuction procedure, we can turn this fibrous fat to a more buttery consistency, allowing for easier suctioning of fat.
The abdominal region can be divided into the upper stomach (between the ribs and belly button) and the lower stomach (between the belly button and bikini line). Depending on your concerns, we can treat one or both of these areas with Vaser liposuction, with incisions strategically placed in the belly button or within the bikini line. Vaser liposuction generally promotes good skin retraction, however, patients with significant skin sagging may be better suited to a tummy tuck procedure. To learn which option is right for you, our liposuction doctors in Adelaide can provide advice during a consultation.
Also known as love handles, flanks sit above the hip bone area and are a common area of concern. They often hang over your jeans and can add considerable width to your waistline. Liposuction on the love handles can create a slimmer appearance, with incisions hidden within the underwear line.
The dream of a well-proportioned behind is often left unrealised when the position of fat causes a drooping buttock or “banana roll”. This appears in the area between the curve of the buttock and the start of the thighs. Achieving a smaller bottom with liposuction does require skill and artistic flair on the doctor’s behalf, however, our experienced Adelaide doctors can provide smooth and symmetric results via Vaser liposuction.
The front of the thighs can be difficult to treat and is best suited to patients with toned skin and plenty of fat in the area. Patients frequently confuse bulky muscle in this area for fat, so a consultation at our Adelaide Clinic is the best way to determine whether liposuction can address your concerns.
While many patients desire slimmer, more attractive legs, we aren’t all genetically blessed with proportionate thighs. Fat is frequently distributed unevenly throughout the inner and outer thighs, which leads to patient discomfort. Even worse, the constant friction of the inner thighs rubbing together sometimes causes skin chafing, sores and infection. If you’re dreaming of more proportionate thighs, Vaser liposuction can help.

While we know that cost usually plays a huge factor in your decision to undergo cosmetic surgery, liposuction does not fit a one price fits all strategy. The cost of liposuction surgery always varies from patient to patient, depending on factors such as:
At Cosmos Clinic Adelaide, our Vaser liposuction procedures start at $4,400 for one area. If you are considering treating multiple areas at once, keep in mind that this will reduce recovery times AND overall costs. Each additional area treated costs approximately $1,750 on top of the base price. To receive an accurate liposuction quote, please organise a consultation with one of our Adelaide liposuction doctors.
You may be a suitable liposuction and liposculpture candidate if you fit the following criteria:
Ultimately, the best way to determine whether you are a liposuction candidate is to meet with our doctors for a consultation at Cosmos Clinic Adelaide.
While you should notice some subtle improvements in your body contour immediately after surgery, it will take some time for your final liposuction results to appear. Before your full results appear, you will need to wait for post-operative swelling to subside and give the skin time to retract and tighten. In some cases, patients may achieve full results within three to six months, while others find that their results continue to improve for up to a year. To speed up recovery and see results sooner, ensure that you follow all of your doctor’s post-operative instructions.
The results of your liposuction procedure are permanent, in the sense that the removed fat cells can never return. However, the remaining fat cells can still grow in size, meaning that it is still possible to gain weight, albeit likely in other body areas. In addition, external factors such as ageing, gravity and inflammation can also impact the way your results look over time.
During your consultation at Cosmos Clinic Adelaide, your liposuction doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions. If you smoke, you will need to quit at least two weeks before surgery, as smoking can increase surgical complications and slow healing times. Additionally, your doctor may tell you to avoid certain medications and supplements that can cause excessive bleeding during and after surgery. We also recommend that you take steps before surgery to prepare for your recovery. This may include purchasing some comfortable clothing, filling any needed prescriptions, preparing some healthy meals and arranging for someone to pick you up from the hospital and assist at home for the first few days.
The amount of time spent in surgery will depend on factors such as the areas treated and the amount of fat removed. Usually, you can expect to spend one to four hours in the operating theatre.
During your liposuction procedure, you will be placed under sedation and local anaesthesia, meaning that you will feel very little during surgery. Any discomfort or pain experienced during the recovery period can be relieved with medications prescribed by your doctor.
Our liposuction doctors at Cosmos Clinic Adelaide always strive to achieve the best fat reduction results during your initial surgery. However, depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed to achieve your desired outcome, you may need additional liposuction sessions.
Many patients choose to treat multiple body areas during the one liposuction procedure. Typically, these areas are close together, for instance, the abdomen and flanks, or flanks and thighs, although this isn’t always the case. Although there is no limit to how many areas we can treat at once, we usually recommend a maximum of three or four. Note that combining areas will increase your surgery time, recovery time and costs.
Our doctors at Cosmos Clinic Adelaide will remove between three and five litres of fat during your liposuction procedure, depending on your overall body weight and aesthetic goals.
We are limited to remove a maximum of five litres of fat during a single procedure. This is for patient safety and comfort: one study found that removing more than five litres of fat increased complication rates by 3.7 percent. This limit is universal, regardless of a patient’s weight, desired results and percentage of body weight. If you need to remove more than this to achieve your desired results, you will need to undergo multiple liposuction procedures.
Scarring is an inevitable part of any invasive surgery. Despite that, significant scarring is rare following liposuction, as the incisions required to insert the cannulas are only small. Our liposuction doctors at Cosmos Clinic always endeavour to make small incisions in places that you can hide easily. Nonetheless, any noticeable scarring will fade in time, especially if you follow the scar management instructions given by your doctor.
The skin will naturally contract to some degree after liposuction due to the skin’s natural healing process. However, the success of this will vary from patient to patient. Usually, younger patients with good skin elasticity bounce back with firm, smooth skin after surgery, while patients with poor skin elasticity may experience skin wrinkling or looseness. If you do develop loose skin after liposuction, we offer numerous non-surgical skin tightening treatments at Cosmos Clinic Adelaide.
Liposuction is not a solution to weight loss and is not designed to treat obesity. However, at Cosmos Clinic Adelaide, we offer Mega Liposuction procedures, which can help overweight patients lose considerable amounts of fat. If you are curious whether this option is right for you, please organise a consultation with our Adelaide liposuction doctors.
Vaser liposuction is considered less risky than traditional liposuction, however, every invasive procedure comes with risk. Despite that, complications are very rare, and we’ve performed thousands of liposuction procedures in Adelaide without incident. Some of the potential side effects you may notice after a Vaser liposuction procedure include:
If you are looking for a way to reduce stubborn pockets of fat without committing to invasive surgery, there are a rising number of non-surgical fat removal treatments on the market. At Cosmos Clinic Adelaide, we provide CoolSculpting treatments, which use cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy fat cells.
