The following areas may be able to be treated with liposuction in suitable candidates with realistic expectations. Your initial consultations with our doctors are required to assess if you are suitable to undergo Vaser Lipo:
We understand that the cost of having liposuction surgery is an important factor for all individuals considering having cosmetic surgery, and there is no set price to undergo liposuction in Adelaide, with individual quotes always varying patient to patient.
At Cosmos Aesthetics Adelaide, all our Vaser Liposuction procedures will always start from a minimum base price of $5,500 for the first treatment area, with any additional treatment areas charged at a smaller rate starting from a minimum $2,000. The cost of liposuction surgery is calculated incorporating expense factors such as:
These prices are just a guide, and an exact quote for your specific and individual circumstances and body contouring needs, will be disclosed in full and provided to you during your initial consultations with our doctors.
You may be a suitable liposuction candidate if you fit the following criteria:
The best way to determine whether you are a good candidate for liposuction is to meet with our doctors for a consultation at Cosmos Aesthetics Adelaide.
While some subtle improvements in your body shape may be noticeable immediately after surgery, the final results will take a while longer to appear. Before this happens, the skin needs time to retract and tighten while post-operative swelling needs to subside. Full results may not be seen until up to six months post-procedure. In other cases, results continue to improve for up to a year. It’s important that you follow all of your doctor’s post-operative instructions during this time to hasten your recovery and see results as soon as possible.
The results of your liposuction procedure are permanent, in that the removed fat cells can never return. However, the remaining fat cells can still grow in size, meaning that it is still possible to gain weight, albeit likely in other body areas. Other factors such as ageing, gravity and inflammation can also impact the way your results look over time.
During your initial consultation at Cosmos Aesthetics Adelaide, your liposuction doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions you must follow. Smokers will need to quit at least two weeks before surgery, as smoking can increase surgical complications and slow healing times. Your doctor may also recommend that you avoid specific medications or supplements that can cause excessive bleeding during and after surgery. To prepare for your recovery, we suggest purchasing comfortable clothing, filling any prescriptions, preparing some healthy meals and arranging for a family member or friend to pick you up from the hospital and help you out at home for the first few days.
The amount of time spent in surgery for liposuction will depend on factors such as the areas treated, the amount of fat removed and your individual needs. Usually, you can expect to spend one to four hours in the operating theatre.
During your liposuction procedure, you will be placed under sedation and local anaesthesia, meaning that you will feel very little during surgery. After the procedure, compression garments will be used to minimise swelling and pain as well as help to shape the body. Any discomfort or pain experienced post-op can be relieved with medications prescribed by your doctor.
Our cosmetic practitioners will aim to remove the most amount of fat possible in one surgery to save you time and money. However, depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed to achieve your desired outcome, you may need additional liposuction sessions.
Many patients choose to treat multiple body areas during the one liposuction procedure. Typically, these treatment areas are close together, for instance, the abdomen and flanks, or flanks and thighs, although this isn’t always the case. Although there is no limit to how many areas we can treat at once, we usually recommend a maximum of three or four. By combining areas, you will also be increasing your surgery time, recovery time and cost of the procedure.
Liposuction surgery has limitations on the amount of fat that can be safely removed during each procedure. A maximum of five litres of fat can be removed per session, as studies have shown that removing more than five litres of fat per procedure can increase complication rates by 3.7 percent. This maximum limit is universal, regardless of a patient’s weight, desired results and percentage of body weight. Multiple liposuction procedures performed over multiple days may be necessary if more than five litres of fat is estimated to be removed. These procedure dates are not consecutive, there is recovery time required in between, and if applicable to you will be discussed in length during your initial consultations with the doctor.
Scarring is an inevitable part of any invasive surgery. Despite that, significant scarring is rare following liposuction, as the incisions required to insert the cannulas are only small. Our team of doctors always endeavour to make small incisions in places that you can hide easily. By following the scar management instructions given by your doctor, you can help any significant scars to fade in time.
The skin will naturally contract to some degree after liposuction due to the skin’s natural healing process. However, the success of this will vary from patient to patient. Usually, younger patients with good skin elasticity bounce back with firm, smooth skin after surgery, while patients with poor skin elasticity may experience skin wrinkles or looseness. If you do develop loose skin after liposuction, we offer numerous non-surgical skin tightening treatments at our clinics for a smoother result.
Vaser Liposuction is a complex and invasive medical procedure that requires careful consideration as well as a GP referral, mandatory cooling off period, and a minimum two consultations with our doctors in Adelaide before deciding to proceed. Every invasive procedure comes with risks and side effects, some of which can be life threatening. Some of the potential side effects you may notice after a Vaser Liposuction procedure include:
If you are looking for a way to reduce stubborn pockets of fat without committing to invasive surgical procedures like liposuction or a facelift, there are an increasing number of non-surgical fat removal treatments for sculpting and rejuvenation in Australia. One of these is CoolSculpting treatment, which uses Cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy fat cells. Contact us today and book into our Australian clinics located in Canberra, Sydney, Gold Coast, and North Adelaide to find out more.
*Results may vary from patient to patient.
