Want to know more about a Buttock Augmentation/ Lift/ Implant? Talk to the team at Cosmos Clinic for a caring and understanding approach.
A Buttock Augmentation or Lift assists in reshaping your behind. This procedure can create the ultimate “Brazilian Butt” and, involves removing fat from one part of the body, and replacing it into the buttock area. Buttock Augmentation/Lifts have been used across the globe to transform your behind into something beautiful and appealing, using your own fat or implants. At Cosmos Clinic we prefer to use your own fat because it is more precise, gives a more natural look, and there is less chance of rotation or infection.
Quick Facts about Buttock Augmentations
- The Brazilian Butt Lift (Buttock Augmentation) uses your own fat to give you a lifted and larger buttock with the desired smooth ‘S’ shape.
- Through using Vaser liposuction, greater than 80% of the fat cells survive when transferred to the buttock.
- You will need 1 week off work, and should not put pressure on the buttock area for 2 weeks (you can sit forward on your thighs, but not on your buttock).
- On average we inject 500-600mls per buttock cheek.
- You will need to come to Cosmos Clinic daily for the first week post-op, to have lymphatic drainage massages and to have the fat graft checked.
- Costs start from $10,000.
What to expect in a Buttock Augmentation/ Lift Procedure
Liposuction is used to remove your own fat, mainly from the abdomen, thighs or back. The fat is purified and cleaned. These healthy fat cells are then reinjected into your buttocks. The result is a lifted, perky and shapely behind.
The time will vary given the amount of fat required and extracted via liposuction. Both procedures can be performed on the same day.
What type of recovery should I expect?
Recovery from the injections of the fat into the buttocks generally takes around 5 to 7days. The surgeon generally injects slightly more than what is needed as not all of the fat will be taken in by your body. As a result, your initial reaction may be that your rear end looks swollen or bigger than expected. Generally over 80% of the injected fat cells survive.
A Buttock Augmentation/ Lift will require you to wear a compression garment for 3 weeks full time, and then 3 weeks part time. For 2 weeks following the procedure, you will also have to avoid sitting on your bottom (You can sit forward on your thighs) or placing pressure on the area for prolonged periods.
You will have regular post-op massages, daily for the first week.
How much fat do we inject?
On average we inject 500-600 mls per buttock cheek. In some cases we inject up to 1L per buttock cheek.
Where do we inject the fat?
We inject most of the fat into the upper two thirds of the buttock to achieve buttock projection (the smooth ‘S’ Shape, at the back).
We may also inject some fat into the side of the buttock to achieve the smooth ‘S’ shape at the side. (See below)
I don’t have much fat elsewhere on my body, can I still get the procedure done?
There are options for patients who don’t carry a lot of excess fat. The first is to gain weight, using a healthy approach, until there is enough fat that can be removed. The second is to be referred to a surgeon for buttock implants. However, fat injections provide the most natural results and a carry very low risk of infection. You will need to stay on antibiotics for 10 days after the procedure.
Can I use someone else’s fat?
No, this can give rise to infection and rejection of the fat by your body.
How much of the fat will survive the transfer process?
It is worth noting that with traditional Liposuction techniques, less than 50% of the fat extracted will survive the transfer process to the buttock. At Cosmos Clinic we use Vaser Liposuction, which is a more gentle approach to removing the fat compared with traditional liposuction. The survival rate of the fat using these techniques is greater than 80%.1
What areas of the body can fat be extracted from?
Essentially fat can be extracted from anywhere on the body that appears. Typical places however are the abdomen, thighs and back. Other areas could be upper arms, hips or breasts. Ideally fat should be removed from the love handles and lower back to give you the ‘V’ look from the back.
This ‘V’ look will also make the ‘S’ shape of the buttock more accentuated.
Is the procedure painful?
You will be put under twilight sedation for this procedure and experience minimal discomfort.
How long do the results last?
As long as the fat is extracted, harvested, processed and injected correctly, results will be long lasting.
The Best Candidate for a Buttock Augmentation/ Lift
The best candidate for a Buttock Augmentation/ Lift are those who need shape and definition to their behind, and have reserves of fat elsewhere on their body; namely the abdomen, thighs or back. Complaints such as “my butt is too flat” or “I want a round and prominent butt” are good reasons for this procedure. A Buttock Augmentation/ Lift can enhance your appearance and self confidence; however it may not create your “perfect body” image. It’s important to carefully consider your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon before proceeding. As with all cosmetic surgery you must have realistic expectations.

Buttock Augmentation/ Lift Cost and Prices
Buttock Augmentation/ Lift prices will depend on the degree of Liposuction being performed. The cost of the Buttock Augmentation/ Lift starts from $10,000 with an average cost of $12,000; this price includes performing Liposuction to additional areas of your body.
Reinjecting the fat is truly an art. Ensure that you have an experienced surgeon with great attention to detail and who will strive for perfection when performing your procedure.
