Looking for an effective way to permanently lose stubborn fat around your love handles or tummy without surgery? CoolSculpting is a popular non-invasive treatment offered to both men and women at Cosmos Aesthetics in Canberra and it may be the answer to your weight-loss woes.
What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is an innovative treatment that involves fat freezing. Harvard University researchers discovered stubborn fat cells are particularly vulnerable when exposed to low temperatures. By using a technique known as cryolipolysis and an FDA-approved applicator controlled cooling is delivered to the target treatment area. This freezes excess fat cells which are then destroyed and naturally removed by the body’s lymphatic system over a few months.
For some people, the CoolSculpting treatment negates the need for fat removal surgery such as Liposuction and lengthy downtime. Risks and side effects are also minimal when compared to cosmetic surgery options.
Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is an effective way to lose those visible fat bulges that have resisted a healthy diet and regular physical activity. But are you a suitable candidate for the cosmetic procedure?
To be a good candidate for CoolSculpting, you need to be within 13.6 kgs of your optimal weight. This is because CoolSculpting is not a weight loss solution and won’t result in the same dramatic results that some surgical treatments will offer. So if you are carrying a few extra kilos in a couple of areas, this may be a treatment option for you.
As a CoolSculpting candidate, you’ll also need to have enough squeezable fat. For the applicator of the CoolSculpting machine to function correctly, it needs to be able to “grab” onto the skin of the problem area. For example, if you have excess fat in your abdomen that is firm and you’re unable to squeeze your tummy or love handles, CoolSculpting isn’t going to be the best solution for you.
It’s not just your physical appearance that will determine whether you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting. Your expectations of the treatment plan will also be discussed before deciding if this is the best option.
Our team at Cosmos Aesthetics in Canberra are committed to ensuring you will be happy with the results of the treatment. We do this by firstly determining whether your body type and medical history are suitable and then discuss what you hope to achieve with the treatment. If you are hoping for dramatic body contouring or enhancement of your assets, for example, you may be better suited to a surgical procedure such as Vaser Liposuction.
Why CoolSculpting may not be suitable for you
Beyond your current weight and your body contouring goals, there are several reasons why CoolSculpting may not be a suitable treatment for you.
Although the fat freezing treatment has proved very safe and effective at destroying fat cells, there are several medical conditions that would prevent someone from undergoing the procedure. These include:
- cryoglobulinemia
- cold agglutinin disease
- paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria
Additionally, if you are pregnant, CoolSculpting is not recommended.
