Breast Reduction – Sydney, Canberra & Adelaide

Considering a Breast Reduction? Minimally invasive surgery is an option…

Having large breasts isn’t uncommon in this day in age and the number of women opting to have some form of Breast Reduction treatment is on the increase.

There are two breast reduction options available, Liquid Lipo Breast Reduction or a Surgical Breast Reduction.  During your Breast Reduction consultation at Cosmos Clinic, our doctors will asses, which form of Breast Reduction best suits your needs.

Liquid Lipo Breast Reduction

What Causes Large Breasts?

A woman’s breast will undergo a number of changes during her lifetime. From the onset of puberty, her breasts will begin to get larger. At certain points in her life, a woman’s breasts will be larger than at other times. The causes of these fluctuations are many from genetics, to nutrition, to pregnancy and will result in either:

  • An excess of fatty tissue; or
  • An excess of glandular tissue.

Breast reduction can be used to decrease the pain and discomfort of heavy breasts or correcting different sized breasts.

Excess of Fatty Tissue

If your breasts are mainly due to excessive fatty tissue then you will most likely be suitable for Liquid Lipo Breast Reduction. This procedure is performed under twilight sedation and has reduced downtime than the more surgical approach. Generally, you can quickly return to normal activities. Liquid Liposuction also only uses tiny incisions and thus results in minimal, if any, Breast Reduction scarring. Liquid Liposuction on breasts can also result in a subtle ‘lift’ due to the removed weight and retraction on the tissue in the breast. Laser Liposuction combined with Liquid Liposuction helps to heat the collagen under the skin, tightening the skin and further enhancing the ‘lift’ effect. There are also minimal risks and possible post-operative complications.

Excess of Glandular Tissue

If your breasts are large due to glandular tissue then your Breast Reduction will most likely be performed with a traditional surgical Breast Reduction approach. This is carried out under general anesthetic. Generally, excess skin is removed from the breasts. The surgeon then relocates the nipple to its new lifted position and stitches both the nipple and lift into place.

How Can Breast Reduction Help?

Having overly, large breasts can cause much physical and emotional stress. Women with large breasts quite often have issues with their neck, shoulders and back, which is normally caused by the extra weight of carrying large breasts. Other conditions such as ulceration and soreness under the breast isn’t uncommon and quite often women will wear loose or baggy clothing to disguise their breasts.

Your Consultation: What to expect?

During your Breast Reduction consultation, our Surgeon will go through your full medical history, paying close attention to any previous history of breast surgery. The surgeon will discuss with you the best option for breast reduction. After the Breast Reduction examination our Surgeon will be able to show you what you can expect after the surgery and quite often outline the new position of your nipple (should the full surgical approach be needed) which needs to be relocated during Breast Reduction surgery.

Patient Expectations

Many women request to have their breasts made as small as possible after their Breast Reduction surgery. However, even after the treatment, many women will still have above average sized breasts. All of us are asymmetrical in some degree, including the breasts. Our Surgeon will make all efforts to achieve maximum symmetry during the Breast Reduction surgery however, this isn’t always possible to perfect with every patient.

Breast Reduction Costs

Breast Reduction costs and prices vary widely depending on your overall situation and expectations. Initial consultation is $200. Prices can start from as little as $2,500.
