THE RESULTS
Breast fat transfer augmentation procedure can increase, shape, and define your breasts using harvested fat from other parts of your body, such as your tummy, back, or thighs. With the aim to slightly enhance bust size, only the fat that is donated from the chosen parts of your body will be needed – no breast implants will be necessary. The breast fat transfer procedure is designed to leave you with fuller, symmetrical, and defined breasts.
If you are interested in undergoing a breast fat transfer procedure at Cosmos Clinic, we recommend thinking about your desired outcome of a breast augmentation procedure, and discussing your expectations with one of our doctors.

THE PROCEDURE
The doctors at Cosmos Clinic focus on liposuction, and are highly experienced in performing breast fat transfer augmentation procedures. On the day of your surgery, twilight sedation will be sufficiently used, however, you can opt for general anaesthesia if preferred.
The advanced and powerful Vaser liposuction technology is used at all our clinics, and is known for being gentler than traditional liposuction. The procedure works by removing the fat from the area of your choice, such as thighs, tummy, flanks or back, using Vaser liposuction technology, before separating the health fat cells and purifying the harvested fat. The fat is then transferred to the breasts, to create symmetrical, slightly fuller, and defined breasts. With Vaser technology, about 80% of the fat cells are likely to survive the transfer into the breast tissue, while less than 50% of fat cells tend to survive the transfer when using other types of liposuction technology.
Your doctor can enlarge the bust size by one or two cup sizes, but if you’d like to increase your breasts more, you can receive multiple breast fat transfer procedures that are performed three to six months apart.
Costs will depend on your individual needs and the various fees that will need to be charged. As a price guide:
Around $8,000Â for liposuction performed on one area and fat transfer to the breast
Between $120 – $330 for the initial consultation
The fees will include:
A consultation will provide you with the most detailed and personalised breast fat transfer augmentation procedure quote.

POST-TREATMENT
Your doctor will provide you with a detailed recovery plan that you can closely follow to ensure that you recover well. Most patients can go home after their breast fat transfer procedure, and can already see that their breasts look slightly larger – possibly even a bit bigger than originally expected, however, this may be due to swelling and the fact that only about 80% of the transferred fat cells will survive. With this in mind, your doctor can inject extra fat to your breasts to create a fuller result.
You can expect to feel some pain and discomfort after your breast fat transfer procedure, but your doctor can prescribe you some pain medication to help you manage this. If you notice some fluid seepage at your incision points, be assured that this is normal, and should subside after a few days. Swelling will reduce within the weeks after your surgery, which will allow you to start to see your new breast shape.
During your recovery, you will need to wear a post-operative bra will help to support your breasts, and avoid regular bras that contain underwire for about six weeks. In addition, you’ll need to wear a compression garment over your liposuction areas for about three weeks full time, and then three weeks part-time.
You’ll need to avoid any strenuous exercise and overhead or heavy lifting for about a month, but you should be able to return to work or your normal daily routine within two to five days after surgery.
Although breast fat transfer is considered a more natural breast augmentation than other procedures, it will still pose some risks and possible complications. Side effects may include:
During your consultation, feel free to ask your doctor any questions that you may have or discuss any concerns relating to the risks and complications of fat transfer breast augmentation surgery.
The breast fat transfer procedure is often regarded as a more natural breast augmentation, as it does not involve the insertion of breast implants.
Your doctor will instruct you on how to prepare for your breast fat transfer augmentation procedure during your initial consultation, but in the meantime, some advice to follow as a guide can be:
After a few weeks post-procedure, any swelling should have reduced, and you can start to see your new breasts. You will be able to see the results clearly at around six to eight weeks after surgery, and final results within six months. To achieve your desired results, you might need up to three or four fat transfers, but we use advanced techniques at Cosmos Clinic that ensure a fat survival rate of over 80 percent, so that one procedure will be as effective as possible. It is important to note that results will vary from person to person, and will be dependent on your individual needs and goals.
If your goal is to achieve slightly fuller breasts with more definition and a natural lift, you may be suitable for a breast fat transfer augmentation. Other criteria that can determine if you are a good candidate for breast fat transfer can include:
To accurately ensure that a breast fat transfer procedure is right for you, we recommend booking a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your individual factors and goals.
Scarring is quite rare, but if it does occur, breast fat transfer only requires small incisions to perform liposuction and inject fat into the breasts, and these incisions will be placed in discreet areas that can be easily hidden.
You may be able to have multiple breast fat transfer procedures if you want to create fuller breasts, but they will need to be performed about three to six months apart.
The fat that survives will stay in your breasts permanently, but as you are healing, your immediate results will appear bigger due to swelling and the appearance of fat cells that may not survive. Within about six months after your procedure, you can see your final results, which are permanent, however, fluctuations in weight after the procedure can slightly change the size of your breasts. Following a healthy diet and exercise routine will help you maintain your final results.
If you are unsatisfied with your results after your first breast fat transfer augmentation procedure, you may be able to have multiple procedures in order to create fuller breasts, performed three to six months apart.
RACS has stated that fat injected into the breasts will not make it harder for radiologists to detect breast cancer if you go for a mammogram, and that fat transfer procedures carry the same risks as other breast augmentation methods. If you do go for a mammogram, we advise that you notify your radiologist that you have undergone a breast fat transfer procedure, so that they are aware that they will need to look out for any calcification that has occurred as a result of your procedure, and can determine the difference between this and the appearance of breast cancer. The fat transfer method has been widely accepted internationally for many years, and is often seen as a more natural breast augmentation method than others, as it will only need to use the fat that is already present in your body.
The procedure time is reliant on factors that will vary from person to person, such as the amount of fat that will need to be transferred to achieve the desired outcome. Generally, patients can expect to be in the operating theatre for about two to four hours.
