Lower Face Liposuction Adelaide
Vaser Liposuction, which uses ultrasound technology, is designed to target and extract fat cells in the lower face.
Available at our Adelaide clinic, 163 Archer Street, North Adelaide SA 5006.
Unwanted fat in the mid to lower face is gently removed with high-tech ultrasound technology
Performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, the facial liposuction procedure is less invasive than traditional liposuction methods. Requiring only tiny incisions placed in discreet areas, such as behind the ear and under the neck, the Vaser ultrasound probe is moved back and forth to melt the stubborn fat cells. The heat from the ultrasound technology, at around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, will contract collagen fibres to stimulate the skin-tightening process. Protecting surrounding tissues, the liquified fat is removed using a small cannula.
The procedure only takes about 30 to 60 minutes, letting patients return home for a fast and easy recovery.
Benefits of the Vaser liposuction procedure
- The gentle removal of the unwanted fat prevents damage to surrounding tissue
- Less invasive than a traditional surgical facelift
- Prompts the body’s collagen production process to reduce signs of aging
Results can be achieved by reducing fat in the lower face with Vaser Liposuction surgery.
Initial changes may be noticeable soon after the Vaser facial liposuction procedure, with full results typically visible around six weeks. Recovery times can vary.

Frequently asked
Lower Face Liposuction is a minimally invasive alternative to a full blown Face Lift Surgery. The Vaser probe uses ultrasound energy to melt fat cells and tighten the collagen fibres in the skin. This results in an improvement to your jowls and overall face shape.
Saggy jowls occur for three reasons:
- Fat pads from your cheeks move south towards your jowls
- Skin becomes saggy
- Muscles in the neck area pull the jowls down more tightly
The Vaser probe will help tighten the skin by causing the contraction of the collagen fibres, as well as melting the fat pads that cause heavy jowls. Wrinkle Reduction Treatments can be applied along the jaw line and in the neck to help prevent additional pulling on the neck muscles. All of these treatments together provide you with a number of ways to improve your jowls (without a traditional face lift).
Vaser uses ultrasound energy to melt the unwanted fat, which simultaneously contracts collagen fibres in the treated area. Stimulating collagen will prompt the body’s natural skin tightening process.
The complete results from the procedure are typically visible six months after treatment. Additionally, the skin will slowly tighten as is naturally conforms to the new shape of the face.
Liposuction procedures permanently remove the fat in the treated area, however, significant weight gain after treatment can cause the remaining fat cells to expand. The skin-tightening effect that the treatment has on your skin can be long-lasting, however, the natural aging process that causes collagen production to slow over time will still continue. That being said, the treatment’s ability to boost collagen production will initially slow the aging process down.
Saggy jowls can form with age, as collagen production slows down and causes skin laxity, while the neck muscles can weaken. Fat pads in the cheeks can also move downwards over time, contributing to the appearance of jowls.
The gentle Vaser liposuction method used for the face is the same as the method that is used on the body. However, facial liposuction usually requires a lower amount of fat to be removed than liposuction that is performed on the body.
To prepare, you should follow the instructions that your doctor will give you during your consultation. Usually, smokers will be asked to quit for two weeks before the procedure, and any medication or supplements that can interfere with healing will need to be put on hold.
To avoid irritating your face, make sure that you have clothing to wear during your recovery that does not need to be pulled on over your head. To get organised ahead of time, you can arrange someone to pick you up after your procedure and help you with any tasks that you may find hard to do at home while you are resting.
Cooking healthy meals in advance can also support your recovery, as well as filling any prescriptions that you will need in advance.
During the procedure, patients will need to be under local anaesthetic and twilight sedation. Therefore, patients should not feel any pain.
With Vaser liposuction, your doctor will need to make small incisions to insert the ultrasound probe and to remove the melted fat. Any procedure that requires incisions will carry some risk of scarring. However, the incisions will be placed in discreet areas, making any scarring easily concealable.
Studies have shown that Vaser technology has less complications compared to other UAL methods. There are inherent risks and complications as there are with any surgery. You should be aware of the potential risks and discuss any concerns you may have with your doctor before your surgery is performed.
Lower Face Liposuction stimulates the formation of new collagen fibres. This allows the skin to retract; resulting in tighter, firmer skin
