Skin Acne

Capillaries & Rosacea

Rosacea and Broken Capillaries (also known as telangiectasia) is a condition characterised by facial redness, dilated blood cells, red blemishes and ‘spider veins’. It is a common skin concern that can be effectively treated with laser treatments. By using laser therapy, we can remove visible blood vessels, flare ups, diffuse redness and improve one’s skin complexion.

  • 30 minutes walk in walk out treatment
  • 2-3 treatments for optimal results
THE RESULTS

A marked improvement in the appearance of overall redness

In some cases (especially in larger, high flow Telangiectasia around the nose) there may be an improvement instead of complete resolution after the initial treatment. It is much safer to re-treat than to run the risk of scarring. Anticipate a re-treatment about a month after the initial treatment for the best results. You may need 3 – 4 treatments (1 month apart) for best results. To maintain the results, sunscreen and skin care with SPF needs to be applied daily. It is also important to avoid direct sunlight a few days post the treatment and to be cautious of extreme temperatures and environmental factors. Treating the skin with the Sciton BBL Laser for redness will result in a marked improvement in the appearance of overall redness, visible capillaries and deliver a more even skin tone.

Results may vary from patient to patient. Photographs show individual outcomes and are not a guarantee of results.

THE TREATMENT

Remove the broken capillaries without causing damage to the skin

Broken capillaries, or Telangiectasia, are a common facial skin condition which patients seek treatment for. the condition occurs as a result of broken blood vessels becoming visibly prominent on the skin’s surface. These dilated blood vessels are seen almost exclusively in patients with fair skin. Contrary to popular opinion, facial telangiectasia is not associated with alcohol abuse, but instead with chronic sun exposure, rosacea, overuse of cortisone creams, and certain autoimmune diseases. In many cases, the exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to be hereditary.

At Cosmos Clinic, Sciton BBL Laser is used to remove the broken capillaries with minimal downtime. The laser emits a light which is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood. The blood absorbs the laser energy more than the surrounding tissue and therefore the blood vessel can be selectively clotted without causing damage to the skin.

Capillaries & Rosacea treatment prices vary depending on your overall situation and expectations.

  • Prices start from $250 per treatment for cheeks and nose
  • Prices start from $350 per treatment for full face
  • Package discounts available
  • Initial consultation is between $120 – 150

Treatment is a walk in, walk out procedure. You may be red for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment however you can apply make up during this time.

There is minimal discomfort when performing this procedure and no anaesthetic is needed. The laser pulses feel like little ‘snaps’ (similar to a pulsed dye laser) and can be easily tolerated by most patients. In most cases, a transparent cooling gel is used on the skin to increase comfort and decrease superficial blistering.
