Under Eyes

The Basics

The under eyearea is an important part of the face when it comes to having a fresh, youthful appearance as it is one of the first areas on the body that show significant signs of ageing. Thankfully, through various cosmetic treatments, this can be combated efficiently and effectively. These treatment options can help reduce dark circles, fill hollows and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Treatments

Hollows (particularly the tear troughs) can be treated with Dermal Fillers. The appearance of dark circles can be minimised using Dermal Fillers, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and/or eye cream rich in caffeine. Improving texture and treating fine lines under the eyes can be achieved using Platelet Rich Plasma.

Under Eyes Treatment Options

The loss of volume that occurs under the eyes can be corrected using Dermal Fillers. At Cosmos Clinic, we use high quality Dermal Fillers that are produced by a leading pharmaceutical company. These fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid and have built-in local anaesthetic – ultimately allowing for a quick and more comfortable treatment. The Dermal Filler is used to fill the hollow with approximately 3 injections required under each eye (near the under-eye bags). At Cosmos Clinic, we use a blunt needle to inject the Dermal Filler – thereby greatly reducing the risk of bruising. Some swelling and bruising may occur and can last for approximately 2 – 7 days. Improvements will usually be evident approximately one week after (when any swelling has subsided). The results of this procedure will last anywhere for 12 – 15 months (*Results may vary from patient to patient).
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a great, natural treatment for improving skin texture and fine lines under the eyes and around the lower eyelid.  It uses your own plasma as a seed to stimulate further production of collagen and naturally improve the look of your skin. Plasma contains a high concentration of platelets; that is, a specialised cell involved in injury healing and cell regeneration. The great thing about using your own plasma is that it contains your own natural growth factors and stem cells that encourage a refreshed appearance. Also, the likelihood of allergies is very unlikely as it is from your own body. For full skin rejuvenation, the optimal concentration of plasma is 6 – 8 times the amount found in your blood. Cosmos Clinic utilises the cutting edge Harvest® Technologies PRP System, which yields 8 times the amount of plasma found naturally in blood, and Regen® which yields 6 times the amount of plasma found in your blood. PRP also helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles by thickening the skin underneath the eyes.
It is  impossible to fully remove dark circles under the eyes, however there are techniques available that can minimise their appearance. Dermal Fillers can assist with the look of dark circles by hydrating the eye area and stretching the skin. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) increases the thickness and vitality of the under-eye skin, helping to reduce dark shadows and eye bags. Skincare rich in caffeine have also been shown to reduce the appearance of dark circles by improving skin tone, reducing puffy eyes and minimising swelling.

How do I know which treatment option is best for me?
