    THE TREATMENT

A non-surgical option to reduce submental fat beneath the chin

Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that reduces moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat).

The procedure typically takes 20-30 minutes, during which up to 50 injections are administered to the targeted area. The surrounding healthy cells, including nerves and muscles, remain unaffected when the procedure is performed by a trained professional.

To reduce discomfort, the area is numbed before treatment. Patients commonly report mild to moderate sensations during the procedure, which subside shortly after.

    How Much Does Kybella Cost?

Prices vary between patients, but here is a rough outline.

    • $700 to $950 per ml
    • Discounts available for additional vials over multiple sessions
    • Initial consultation: $120–$330, redeemable upon treatment

For an accurate and personalised quote, you’ll need to book in a consultation.

    Who is this procedure for?

Kybella may be suitable for individuals over 18 with fat deposits under the chin due to weight changes or genetics. This procedure offers an alternative for those not eligible for other treatments like CoolSculpting (which requires a specific applicator size) or those who prefer not to undergo surgery.

This procedure may also be used for fat deposits in areas such as the neck, under the buttocks, armpits, or above the knees.

    POST TREATMENT

    What to expect after Kybella

Please note that the most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area.

    • Swelling occurs immediately after your treatment making your skin feel tight. The swelling reduces slowly over a 2-3 week period.
    • Bruising may occur with all treatments involving injections and your clinician will try to minimise this as much as possible
    • During the treatment, there is some discomfort and your clinician will try to reduce this by applying numbing cream and cool packs. After your treatment, the area may feel sore to touch but this will reduce within a few days
    • Numbness and the formation of small hard areas are also a common side effect, which should improve daily.

    What is submental fullness?

Submental fullness refers to the excess fat under your chin area. Submental fullness can be caused by:

    • Ageing
    • Genetics
    • Weight Changes

How long does the procedure take?

Kybella takes approximately 20-30 minutes and patients can have up to 50 small injections during one treatment sessio.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required varies based on individual cases of submental fullness, and some patients may see visible improvements within 2 to 4 treatments. Patients can have up to 6 treatments of Kybella.

    When will I see results?

In most cases, visible results are seen at around 4-6 weeks after your second treatment.

Are there any risks to be aware of?

Like any medical procedure, Kybella may come with potential risks and side effects. While the treatment is generally well-tolerated, it’s important to be aware of the following:

    • Swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site
    • Temporary discomfort or pain in the treated area
    • Numbness or a tingling sensation
    • Mild hardness or firmness at the injection site
    • Infection at the injection site
    • Uneven results if the product isn’t distributed evenly
    • Prolonged swelling or bruising
    • Allergic reactions to the product
    • Temporary or permanent nerve injury leading to weakness in nearby muscles
    • Difficulty swallowing if injections are placed too close to certain areas
    • Skin ulcers or scarring (in very rare cases)
