THE RESULTS
With a technologically advanced method, Face liposuction at Cosmos Aesthetics, using ultrasound energy, is a less invasive option compared to a traditional facelift. Stubborn fat cells in the mid and lower face are broken down before removal, preventing harm to surrounding tissue. The heat from the ultrasound energy simultaneously encourages collagen production and contracts collagen fibres, tightening the skin in the treated area.
Results are a youthful-looking appearance with more defined facial features, as the method can reduce signs of aging as well as create a firmer appearance. Full results may become more apparent once swelling has subsided, which can vary among individuals.
THE PROCEDURE
Equipped with the latest innovations in technology, Cosmos Aesthetics uses Vaser technology to deliver a comfortable and efficient face liposuction treatment.
Since the Vaser method is less invasive than traditional liposuction and surgical facelifts, the procedure can be performed under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia. The method only requires tiny incisions to insert a small Vaser probe that will be moved back and forth under the skin to deliver ultrasound energy. Your doctor will make the incisions in discreet areas, usually behind the ear and under the neck. Once the treatment area has been heated up to 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, the targeted fat cells will begin to break down, transforming the fat into a liquid-like consistency. At the same time, the heat from the ultrasound energy will contract collagen fibres, tightening the skin in the area. The melted fat is then gently removed with a small cannula before the incisions are closed.
Thanks to the efficient and powerful nature of Vaser technology, the facial liposuction procedure will take about 30 to 60 minutes to complete.
Locations available
Face liposuction can be suitable for patients who have stubborn fat in the mid to lower face, and want to undergo a less invasive facelift method. Usually, patients are in their 40s and have begun to notice skin laxity, jowls and other signs of aging that can be addressed using Vaser liposuction technology. However, there is no specified perfect age to be suitable for a facial liposuction procedure. The best way to find out if you are a suitable candidate for face liposuction is to book a consultation at Cosmos Aesthetics.
Characteristics of a good candidate for face liposuction are:
Face liposuction costs will vary from individual to individual, as each procedure will need to be tailored to meet the patient’s goals and personal characteristics. Additionally, the associated fees can change per patient, such as anaesthesia fees. The Vaser technology that is used to perform the procedure can also make the costs higher than traditional and less advanced methods.
Our team at Cosmos Aesthetics understand that costs play an important factor when deciding to undergo a face liposuction procedure, therefore, we recommend discussing your individual needs with one of our experienced doctors during a consultation. A consultation will help your doctor understand your desired results, assess your characteristics, and determine your overall procedure costs, providing you with a personalised quote.
The cost of face liposuction varies based on individual factors. Please consult for a personalized estimate.
Initial consultation costs are between $120 to $330
For each face liposuction procedure, costs are based on:
If you are interested in combining facial liposuction with other liposuction procedures, such as by also treating the abdomen, thighs, arms, or other areas of the body, this will increase your total costs. While each treatment area will add to the overall costs of the procedure, combining multiple treatments in the one procedure can save costs, as treating the additional areas separately will require the necessary fees for each procedure, such as anaesthesia fees.
Cosmos Aesthetics offers treatment to patients who are travelling from interstate or overseas. If you’re in Melbourne, we have set procedures in place so that we can give you the information that you need ahead of time, including a personalised quote. To send us your information, including your location and some images of your chosen treatment areas, please contact us by using the form at the end of this page.
Vaser liposuction is regarded as a less invasive method than other procedures that are designed to remove unwanted fat from the face, which allows patients to return home straight after the procedure. The downtime from the procedure is considered minimal, with minor pain and discomfort that can be managed with prescription medication if needed. Pain, discomfort, and swelling should subside during the first week of your recovery period. Patients can typically resume work and daily activities after one week. To manage your recovery, your doctor will provide you with instructions during your consultation so that you will know what to expect before your procedure.
Recovery instructions can include:
The advanced Vaser technology provides a gentler facial liposuction procedure than other liposuction methods or a traditional facelift. Thanks to the less invasive method, recovery time is minimal and the chance of complications is lower. That being said, all procedures carry some form of associated side effects. During your consultation, your doctor will explain the risks and complications that are associated with the Vaser facial liposuction procedure. Side effects can include:
The Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound energy to melt the targeted fat cells, which also contacts collagen fibres in the treatment area. This will cause the skin to tighten and conform to the shape of the face after the fat has been removed, contributing to a more defined facial structure.
Results can be instant, however, swelling will need to subside before you are able to see full results. Usually, patients can see results after one week as the swelling subsides, but full results are typically noticeable at about six months. The body’s natural process of producing collagen and tightening the skin in the treatment area is gradual, therefore, you can expect to see further improvements over time.
Vaser liposuction will permanently remove the targeted fat, therefore, with healthy lifestyle and exercise habits, patients should be able to maintain results. However, the remaining fat cells can expand if the patient’s weight becomes higher after the procedure. Vaser liposuction will also treat signs of aging, however, it will not stop the natural aging process entirely, which means that results may change as collagen levels deplete. That being said, the ability of the Vaser method to stimulate collagen production can mean that it can slow the skin aging process down. Patients can maintain a good skincare routine and undergo other anti-aging treatments to prevent signs of aging.
Saggy jowls can become noticeable with age, as collagen production naturally slows, causing skin laxity. The neck muscles can also become weaker, which can contribute to the sagging effect that occurs. Fat pads in the cheeks can move down into the neck area, contributing to the appearance of jowls.
Vaser liposuction performed on the face uses the same method as when it is performed on the body, however, facial liposuction procedures generally require less amount of fat to be removed.
During your consultation, your doctor will give you some preparation instructions to follow so that you are ready to undergo your procedure.
In the meantime, you can familiarise yourself with this checklist of common pre-procedure instructions:
Since the facial liposuction procedure with Vaser is performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, patients should have a pain-free experience. If you would prefer, general anaesthesia is also an option. You can discuss the type of anaesthetic that would be the most suitable for you during your consultation with your doctor.
The Vaser liposuction procedure only uses tiny incisions, and your doctor will place them in easily hidden areas. Therefore, any scarring that does not seem to fade should not be noticeable to the point of interfering with your results. Scarring is always an associated risk of procedures that require incisions, however, experienced doctors will strive to produce results that do not include highly visible scars.
