Why Sydney Non-surgical Nose Jobs Are on the Rise
In the past, if you wanted to change the appearance of your nose, plastic surgery was your only answer. However, with the advancement of dermal filler technology, many Sydney residents are now opting for a non-surgical nose job over the traditional rhinoplasty procedure.
While non-surgical nose jobs are nothing new having been around for over 10 years now, Cosmos Clinic Sydney has seen a surge in the number of patients undergoing the cosmetic procedure. If you’re contemplating a non-surgical nose job, there are several things to consider that go beyond its popularity, but it’s interesting to know why many Sydneysiders and visitors to the city are drawn to the procedure.
Here, we take a look at the appeal of the non-surgical nose job and why it’s gaining traction.
It’s natural-looking results
One of the appealing attributes of non-surgical rhinoplasty using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers is the natural-looking results. When in the hands of an experienced cosmetic surgeon or qualified injector, precise contouring of the nose can be achieved without scars or a plastic appearance.
By using small amounts of dermal filler at a time, the shape of the nose can be enhanced just enough to compliment the patient’s facial features. Perhaps that means camouflaging an indentation or minimising the size of the nasal hump.
Minimal downtime
With no requirement to go under the knife or general anaesthetic, the cosmetic treatment of a “liquid nose job” results in minimal downtime. In fact, it’s not uncommon for patients to visit Sydney Cosmos Clinic for a non-surgical nose job in their lunch break.
Unlike a traditional rhinoplasty treatment that takes 1-2 hours and is performed by a plastic surgeon in a hospital, non-surgical nose reshaping can be conducted in as little as 30 minutes depending on your desires. In addition, the end result is seen immediately and the patient can resume their normal activities after the procedure.
More invasive procedures tend to require greater downtime. It’s typically 7-10 days before patients return to work after rhinoplasty surgery and the bruising and swelling tend to subside after a few weeks.
Affordability
A big drawcard for filler treatments including the “injectable nose job” is that its affordability when compared to surgical procedures. The cost of a non-surgical nose job at our Sydney clinic starts at $700 depending on your individual situation and expectations.
While the results aren’t permanent, patients choosing to repeat the dermal fillers in the future may still enjoy a significant saving. This can make this procedure appealing, especially for those who can’t afford the upfront cost of surgical rhinoplasty or time off work to recover.
Increased social media buzz
There’s no denying it, social media has played a huge role in the surge in popularity of cosmetic surgery procedures, particularly non-surgical nose jobs.
Many of our Sydney patients are drawn to transformation photos on Instagram or Facebook highlighting the effectiveness of the cosmetic procedure. Not to mention the number of celebrities and influencers who have openly enjoyed the benefits of dermal fillers. The appeal of immediate results, minor pain and zero downtime are commonly discussed on social platforms. Quick and inexpensive “lunchbreak” cosmetic treatments have become commonplace.
Surgical vs Non-surgical Nose Jobs Performed at Cosmos Clinic Sydney
Not happy with your current nose profile? Is the bridge of your nose too large in comparison to the rest of your facial features?
There are plenty of things to consider if you are contemplating a non-surgical or surgical nose job in Australia. One of the first is to decide between the two cosmetic surgery procedures and which option is right for you.
Explanation of non-surgical nose reshaping and rhinoplasty can be found on the Cosmos Clinic cosmetic procedure pages. However, to make things easier for you, we’ve outlined the key differences between the surgical procedure and injectable procedure performed in our Sydney clinic.
What is a surgical nose job?
A surgical nose job, otherwise known as rhinoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to correct the size, shape, width or profile of your nose. This procedure is performed under general anaesthetic by a plastic surgeon and takes 1-2 hours to complete depending on the desires for your nose.
At Cosmos Clinic, surgical nose reshaping is performed by Dr Ellis Choy in a hospital located in Sydney. Patients typically require 7-10 days off work to recover from the nose surgery with some bruising and swelling persisting for several weeks.
What is a non-surgical nose job?
A non-surgical nose job uses dermal fillers to alter the shape of the nose without the need for invasive cosmetic or reconstructive surgery. Using injectables, bumps and indentations can be camouflaged, nasal contouring can be achieved and symmetry obtained in a quick procedure with little to no downtime. In fact, the results of the cosmetic procedure can be seen immediately.
In addition to being on offer at our Sydney Cosmos Clinic, injectable nose job reshaping is also available at our Canberra, Adelaide, Gold Coast & Melbourne cosmetic clinics.
What are the key differences between the two Cosmos Clinic cosmetic procedures?
- Rhinoplasty alters the nose with plastic surgery whereas a non-surgical nose job uses injectables.
- Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic in a Sydney hospital by a plastic surgeon. An “injectable nose job” is performed at one of our cosmetic clinics by a cosmetic surgeon or registered nurse.
- The surgical nose job is a day procedure taking 1-2 hours. A non-surgical nose job is completed in less than an hour.
- Sydney rhinoplasty patients typically require 7-10 days downtime with swelling and bruising subsiding after a couple of weeks versus no downtime and immediate results of a non-surgical nose job.
- The cost of injectable nose reshaping is significantly less than the surgical nose job option.
- Rhinoplasty is a permanent solution whereas results of a non-surgical nose job last between 18-24 months.
- Both procedures are precise and can enhance your facial appearance, however, a non-surgical nose reshaping is best for minor irregularities and contouring.
- Being a non-surgical procedure there are reduced risks and side effects with dermal filler injections when compared to plastic surgery nose reshaping.
- Rhinoplasty may correct functional issues, however, a non-surgical nose job, like any anti-wrinkle injections, is purely for aesthetics.
10 Remedies for Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, is a medical condition that affects approximately 1-3% of the population. While sweating is a normal mechanism for the body to release toxins and regulate temperature, some people sweat excessively and this diminishes their quality of life. People with hyperhidrosis describe having to carry extra changes of clothing everywhere they go, having to avoid shaking hands with people, and missing out on social gatherings due to embarrassment and self-consciousness about their condition. In romantic relationships it affects self confidence, and can lead to reduced intimacy. In a work context it can even make paperwork difficult due to sweaty hands soaking pen and paper. All of these symptoms make people nervous and frustrated as it interferes with daily living. People with excessive sweating may have some of the following symptoms:
- Constantly wet palms of hands and soles of feet
- Visible sweating that soaks through clothing
- Discoloration of the skin in affected areas
- Body odour
- Scaling, cracking and maceration of the skin
The good news is that if traditional methods of controlling sweating, such as over-the-counter or even prescription deodorants, are not working, there are a range of other natural and medical remedies that have proven beneficial for many sufferers. Let’s take a look at the top 10 remedies for excessive sweating now.
Non-Surgical Nose Job Procedure at Cosmos Clinic Gold Coast Explained
Non-surgical nose jobs have become a desirable alternative to the more invasive plastic surgery rhinoplasty procedure. In fact, it is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures offered at our Gold Coast Cosmos Clinic.
If you’re looking for minor alterations to your nose shape but don’t want to go under the knife, an “injectable nose job” may be an effective treatment option.
Here, we discuss the cosmetic surgery procedure in more detail including what’s involved, the types of dermal fillers used and the permanence of the results.
What is a non-surgical nose job?
A non-surgical nose job is a reshaping cosmetic treatment that uses injectable dermal fillers to contour areas of the nose.
It is an effective treatment for those looking to achieve a more desirable shape to enhance their natural beauty without the need for traditional rhinoplasty. Using dermal fillers, bumps and indentations can be filled in, contouring can result in the nose shape appearing smaller and the nasal tip can be corrected.
Here are just some of the corrections this non-surgical procedure can offer:
- Flat bridge correction: Dermal Fillers can be used to create a subtle increase in height
- Symmetry correction: Slightly crooked or off-centre nose
- Camouflage: A bump or hook on the bridge of the nose
- Create Balance: The size of the nose in comparison with other facial features
- Shape refinement: Following surgical rhinoplasty
- Other minor concerns: To achieve improvement
Not only does an “injectable nose job” help you avoid more invasive reconstructive or plastic surgery, but it’s also much more affordable.
What does a non-surgical nose job involve?
Non-surgical nose jobs are performed at our Cosmos Clinic’s, including the Gold Coast, by an experienced cosmetic injector.
The initial consultation
Before you undergo the cosmetic procedure, the areas and extent of treatment will be discussed during an initial consultation. You’ll have the opportunity to share your desired results and any concerns relating to the procedure of filler injections, including recovery, side effects and long-term results will be answered.
The procedure
On the day of your cosmetic treatment, an anaesthetic cream and/or an ice pack will be applied to help numb the treated areas of the face. While the cosmetic procedure is relatively pain-free, especially compared to more invasive procedures, this will help to minimise any discomfort.
The dermal filler product, which also contains a local anaesthetic, will be strategically injected to help reshape your nose and enhance the natural beauty of your facial features.
The total treatment time can be as little as 30 minutes and you’ll see the results almost instantaneously. You may only experience some slight redness and swelling after the non-surgical nose job procedure, which means you can visit our cosmetic clinic in your lunch break!
The minor redness, tenderness and swelling may persist for about a week after your injectables. However, the procedure doesn’t require you to set designated recovery time or alter your usual activities.
What dermal fillers are used?
There is a wide range of injectables and dermal fillers on the market in Australia with the most common being hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are made of complex sugars that are naturally occurring in the body. As we age, we gradually lose this substance which can result in sagging and wrinkling of the skin. Using hyaluronic acid injectables allows cosmetic surgeons to restore the lost volume and smooth out the skin to provide natural results.
That’s why dermal fillers are a popular method not only for nose reshaping but also for facelifts, wrinkle injections or even preventative skincare.
One of the reasons Cosmos Clinic opt to use hyaluronic acid injectables is that being a naturally occurring substance it is compatible with the body. Rejection risk is reduced and side effects minimised, making it a relatively safe cosmetic procedure.
Are the results permanent?
The results of a non-surgical nose job that uses dermal fillers aren’t permanent with corrections and contouring tending to last 18-24 months.
While it may mean you’ll need to return to Cosmos Clinic in the future for a touch-up, the impermanence of dermal fillers does have their advantages when compared to plastic surgery rhinoplasty or permanent liquid fillers.
Firstly, the injectables can be dissolved and the areas altered during treatment in order to achieve the desired results. Secondly, the body can break them down and thirdly, if you choose not to change your natural features in the future, you don’t have to undergo the procedure again returning to your original profile.
3 Popular Non-Surgical Facial Procedures Performed on the Gold Coast
Amongst the stunning beaches and warm weather, the Gold Coast is well recognised as a home for beautiful sun-kissed people. While many are naturally blessed, others are frequenting our Queensland clinic for a subtle rejuvenation and enhancement of their facial features.
3 most popular non-surgical facial procedures on the Gold Coast
Thanks to the growing number of effective non-surgical treatments on offer, women and men are now able to restore their youthful appearance without going under the knife. The most popular of these cosmetic treatments at our Gold Coast clinic include anti-wrinkle injections, non-surgical nose reshaping and dermal filler lip enhancement.
Here, we summarise these most sought after non-surgical procedures performed on the Gold Coast.
1. Non-surgical nose reshaping
We’ve explained non-surgical nose reshaping in more detail here, but in summary, injectable nose jobs are another non-invasive, non-surgical cosmetic treatment that’s proving popular at our Gold Coast clinic. The procedure is an effective and affordable alternative to traditional rhinoplasty and uses dermal fillers to help reshape, define and enhance the natural contours of a patient’s nose.
The dermal fillers are compromised of naturally occurring complex sugars and a local anaesthetic. When injected, they can help to fill in indentations, disguise the appearance of unsightly bumps or refine the shape to create a more aesthetically pleasing profile. All without the need of a scalpel, lengthy downtime and greater side effects.
One of the most appealing factors of non-surgical nose reshaping is that it is a much more affordable cosmetic procedure than plastic surgery. You can read more about the costs an injectable nose job on the Gold Coast here.
2. Anti-wrinkle injections
Anti-wrinkle injectables are growing in popularity especially those you want to look and feel visibly younger without the need for an invasive facelift.
By blocking the nerve impulses responsible for muscle movement, anti-wrinkle injections help to smooth out the fine lines and creases caused by excessive contraction, reduction in collagen production or even sun exposure. The desired result is a more youthful appearance of the overlying skin.
Some of the most common areas treated in this cosmetic procedure are frown lines or forehead lines, bunny lines beside the nose and crows feet. How long the results last will vary from person to person, however, the skin tightness can last for up to eight months. Cosmos Clinic recommends for optimum results patients attend their complimentary follow-up appointment two weeks after their anti-wrinkle skin treatment.
Find out more about the anti-wrinkle treatment offered at our clinics, including the Gold Coast, here.
3. Lip enhancement
Gold Coast residents and visitors are also lining up for lip injectables to increase volume and enhance their lip shape. By using dermal fillers made of natural complex sugars, our cosmetic nurses can help to increase the fullness of thin lips, define the lip border, lift the upper lip and reduce the appearance of fine lines caused by smoking.
This cosmetic treatment can make a significant difference to a patient’s face and reduce the desire for more invasive cosmetic surgery procedures such as a facelift.
The lip enhancement treatment is a ‘same day’ non-invasive procedure, with results seen almost immediately. While the cosmetic treatment doesn’t require any downtime, some minor swelling and bruising may be experienced.

The Cost of Non-Surgical Nose Jobs on the Gold Coast
There are many factors to consider when deciding to undergo a nose job, regardless of whether you’re choosing between a traditional rhinoplasty or the less invasive non-surgical nose reshaping. One of the big factors for patients is cost.
If you’ve been doing research into nose jobs, you may have noticed the costs of the cosmetic procedures can vary significantly.
Here, we discuss the difference between the rhinoplasty procedure and a non-surgical rhinoplasty and the costs involved in undergoing a nose job at our Gold Coast cosmetic surgery clinic so you can make an informed decision. After reading you may see why injectable nose jobs are one of our most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments on the Gold Coast.
The difference between surgical and non-surgical rhinoplasty
A traditional rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to correct the size, shape, profile and width of the nose. The nose surgery can reshape the nasal tip, correct asymmetry or reduce the size of the nose so that is in proportion to the rest of your facial features.
Rhinoplasty is a more invasive procedure than a non-surgical nose job as it is performed under general anaesthesia in a hospital. The procedure requires more downtime and may result in persisting swelling and bruising for several weeks. At Cosmos Clinic, the rhinoplasty procedure is only available in Sydney.
A non-surgical rhinoplasty, also known as an “injectable nose job”, is performed at all our cosmetic clinics, including on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, QLD.
The cosmetic procedure uses injectable dermal fillers to reshape, define and enhance the appearance of the nose. It can correct a crooked or flat bridge of the nose, disguise bumps and indentations or refine your shape to create a more desirable facial profile.
The benefits of undergoing an “injectable nose job” using dermal fillers include:
- Immediate results
- Fewer side-effects
- Reduced downtime
- Minimal pain & discomfort
- No anaesthesia required
- Extremely precise
- Stuble refinements are possible
What is the cost of a non-surgical nose job?
Just like any cosmetic or surgical procedure, the cost of an injectable nose reshaping treatment depends on the shape of the nose and the contouring required as well as your overall expectations.
All patients considering a nose reshaping attend an initial consultation with a cosmetic doctor or nurse injector to discuss their desires for the cosmetic procedure and what’s involved. The cost of this initial consultation is between $120 – $150 and is redeemable if you choose to proceed with the treatment.
The cost of the actual dermal filler nose job starts from $700.
How does the cost compare to a traditional rhinoplasty?
As a surgical rhinoplasty treatment is more invasive, requiring hospitalisation and general anaesthetic, the cost is much greater.
The total cost of a rhinoplasty in Australia on average ranges between $8,000 – $20,000 depending on the extent of the patient’s individual requirements. Where there is a medical need for plastic surgery, the procedure may be partially covered by Medicare or private health insurance.
5 Tips to Avoid Weight Gain on a Vegan Diet
The plant-based vegan diet grew in popularity this year with its subscribers championing its ability to result in weight loss, clearer skin, better energy as well as being heart protective and lower your cancer risk.
But have you given up meat, eggs and dairy only to experience weight gain?
Contrary to popular belief, adopting a vegan diet can cause you to gain weight especially if you’re unsure what to eat. In fact, if you’re replacing the animal products with a large number of refined carbs, vegan junk food, fruit smoothies and processed oils, you’re unlikely to experience any of the health benefits let alone maintain a healthy weight.
Before you give up on your desires to live a vegan lifestyle, you can consume a plant-based diet and remain in your current dress size or even experience weight loss. A vegan diet can be healthy when correctly executed.
Here are 5 tips to help you prevent weight gain while enjoying vegan foods. These tips also apply if you’re following a vegetarian diet or simply aiming to increase your plant foods.
1. Ditch the artificial meat substitutes
You may have noticed the increasing number of “like meat” foods lining the supermarket shelves. These may offer you the taste of meat, but they’re typically heavily processed and contain added sugars, fillers, binders, refined carbs, sodium and GMO soy or isolated soy protein powder.
Instead of a plant-based chicken burger or mince, try traditional soy products such as tempeh or tofu. These will still offer you enough protein and micronutrients without the high-calorie intake. Want a burger? Make your own using whole foods!
2. Avoid vegan junk food
Just because it’s labelled vegan, doesn’t mean it’s good for you! Sorry, that means you can’t consume ample vegan ice cream, biscuits and french fries without the consequences.
There is plenty of vegan junk food in disguise at supermarkets and cafés, but unfortunately they often contain as much or more refined sugar, carbs and fats than their conventional counterparts. And as much, if not more extra calories which means weight gain if eaten regularly.
3. Watch your portions
Just like with any diet or eating plan, if you want to maintain a healthy weight and avoid weight gain or loss, you have to watch your portion sizes. When transitioning to a vegan diet, it’s not uncommon for some of us to think we can eat an unlimited amount of peanut butter, seeds, whole grains, avocado and sweet potatoes.
While these plant-based whole foods are full of nutrients and considered healthy, some of them are particularly high in calories. Yes, that chickpea hummus and chocolate date slice are calorie dense!
If you need to lose weight, monitor your intake of the naturally high-fat, high-sugar plant foods and keep the refined foods to a minimum. Fill your plate with leafy greens instead.
4. Pack your smoothies with veggies
Inspired by those smoothie bowls featuring tropical fruits and nutty granola? While they may look pretty, they probably contain enough calories for your entire day, let alone breakfast!
It’s not uncommon to see a vegan smoothie recipe consisting of a banana, berries, kiwi, avocado, coconut milk, protein powder, nut butter – should I go on? If you are a lover of smoothies, swap out some of the high-calorie fruits and add vegetables. Cauliflower and zucchini, for example, are a good sub for a banana to make your drink thick and smooth. Leafy greens like spinach are low-carb options that contain plenty of vital nutrients.
And before you go crazy with the peanut butter, coconut, hemp seeds and avocado, choose one healthy fat to add to your smoothie. As mentioned above, it’s also important to watch your portion sizes. Before blending up your ingredients, consider whether you could sit down and eat the ingredients in their whole form. Can you really eat one banana, 1/2 cup of berries, 1/2 zucchini and 1/2 an avocado as your post-workout snack?
5. Be mindful of your oil intake
Oils can offer plenty of health benefits and give your vegan food an extra lift in flavour, but they also can have a high-calorie content. While you don’t want to cut out the fat from a vegan meal plan due to the essential fat-soluble vitamins, you don’t want to be overly liberal with them either.
If you’re using oil, stick with extra virgin olive oil, avocado or flaxseed oil and use only 1-2 tsp at a time. If you’re trying to reduce your oil intake, try lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, yoghurt or tahini for dressings.
Battling Cellulite: What Are My Options?
Dreading swimwear season? Are you feeling self-conscious about your cellulite and dimples on your thighs?
It’s not just you! About 80 per cent of women experience cellulite and while it’s not harmful, it can dampen your body confidence.
The puckering appearance of cellulite is due to fat cells pushing against the connective tissue that lies under the surface of the skin. It’s not a body fat issue, more a structural problem that occurs deep under the skin. So even if you experience weight loss, it’s not guaranteed your cellulite will disappear.
Battling cellulite: What are my options?
If you’re battling with “orange peel” dimpling skin and want to address its appearance, there are several cellulite treatment options to consider ranging from non-invasive to more invasive procedures. Each method offers varying results and will depend on the degree of the cellulite and the overall quality of your skin. These may be more effective than massage techniques or dermatologist-approved topical creams and firming lotions.

- Bio Stimulating Injections
Bio Stimulating Injections work to stimulate collagen production, helping to restore the skin’s structure. It acts like a fertiliser that kick starts the production of the new collagen, and replacing the old and damaged collagen that occurs over time with ageing. This cellulite treatment may be suitable for those with any degree of dimpling of the skin. - Harvest Platelet Rich Plasma
Harvest Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment designed to improve skin texture and elasticity. It uses the plasma component in your own blood to stimulate collagen production and cell regeneration. In addition to treating the “cottage cheese” appearance of cellulite, Harvest PRP is used to treat severe scarring and stretch marks. It may be suitable if you have loose skin or could benefit from non-invasive skin firming. - Fat Injections
Fat injections have become a popular way to minimise the appearance of cellulite while address areas of the body with excess fat deposits through liposuction. By using your own fat, dimples can be filled which minimises the overall appearance of cellulite and evens the skin area. As liposuction is used, this is one of the more invasive procedures for treating cellulite although highly effective. - VaserSmooth
VaserSmooth is another cosmetic surgery treatment option for cellulite and particularly suitable for those people with thickening of the skin, noticeable excess fat deposits and dimpling. This procedure utilises a probe to melt away the superficial fat layer that is causing the cellulite.
Speaking with a qualified professional experienced in cellulite treatment will help determine which of the four options are right for you.
How can I prevent further development of cellulite?
Unfortunately, cellulite is one of life’s unavoidable things. Most women experience cellulite regardless of whether they’re genetically inclined, have a high body mass index or have a checkered health history. And while you can’t prevent cellulite occurring altogether, there a few things you can do to minimise the severity of dimpling skin and prevent further development.
- Include strength training
Regular exercise is one of the more effective ways to minimise the cellulite developing further. But, it’s weight training you should focus on due to its ability to strengthen the connective tissues of your muscles and help to firm up your figure. - Practice yoga
Yoga is another effective form of exercise that improves lymphatic flow and blood circulation, in addition, to strengthening and toning the body. - Maintain a healthy weight
While people of a healthy BMI do experience cellulite, weight gain, especially in body fat mass, may worsen cellulite because of the increased fat cell formation. - Eat a balanced, whole food diet
Eating a balanced healthy diet to maintain a healthy weight and meet your nutrient needs can help to prevent furthering your cellulite. Pay particular attention to your protein consumption as this nutrient is important for connective tissue and collagen production. Antioxidant foods such as those rich in vitamin C are also important as these nutrients help to protect against free radical damage to the skin cells. Avoiding excess sugar, refined carbohydrates, trans fats and salt are also important due to their contribution to an increase in body fat and inflammation. - Keep up your skincare regimen
Although there are many expensive lotions and dermatologist-approved skincare products that claim to significantly reduce the appearance of orange-peel skin, it’s a basic skincare regimen that can make all the difference. Regularly cleanse to remove the build-up of dirt and debris, and moisturise to keep your skin hydrated. To help remove old dead skin cells and enhance the vibrancy of your skin, you can also exfoliate using a quality body scrub. - Protect your skin from the sun
Wearing a quality high SPF sunscreen is important for your skin quality and integrity. This won’t minimise the appearance of cellulite but it will prevent further damaging and minimise the aging process.
Tips to Make Your Dermal Fillers Last Longer
Dermal fillers are an effective way to restore volume loss in the face and skin and can slow or even reverse the aging process. The injectables can also be used to enhance or alter facial features without having to undergo plastic surgery.
However, filler treatments are only temporary, lasting anywhere between 6-24 months depending on the type of injectable used.
Although your body’s metabolism will play a key role in the longevity of your dermal fillers, there are some things you can do to help lengthen and maintain the results of your injectable treatment.
Why aren’t dermal fillers permanent?
Most injectable treatments including the most popular (dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections) are temporary.
Dermal fillers are made of natural complex enzymes, such as hyaluronic acid. This substance is injected under the skin to stabilise the skin’s structure. It also attracts and binds to water which helps to improve the skin’s elasticity and volume. Fine lines are minimised and your complexion appears plumper and rejuvenated.
Being a natural substance, hyaluronic acid fillers are metabolised by the body over time. How long your results last will depend on a few things:
- The type of dermal filler used
- The speed of your metabolism
- The areas of the face treated

Tips to make your dermal filler treatment last longer
Your Cosmetic Nurse will take into account the above factors to help extend the lifespan of your dermal filler treatment, but there are some things you can do too.
1. Skincare
Taking care of your skin will help minimise the effects of the aging process in general, but will also enhance the effects of hyaluronic acid fillers and help give you longer-lasting results. Cleansing and moisturising your skin daily helps to keep it hydrated. There are also a few skincare products that can complement the effects of your dermal filler injections which may be recommended after your treatment.
2. Sun protection
Overexposure to UV rays accelerates the aging process and damages the skin leading to an uneven complexion, sun spots, pigmentation and fine lines. Reducing your sun exposure and practising adequate UV protection is vital after your dermal filler treatment and will play a large role in maintaining your results.
Avoid sun exposure during peak times when the UV rays are high. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and apply a quality SPF sunscreen. A moisturiser or foundation with added SPF may be wise if you’re outside in the sun often.
3. Healthy diet
Your diet can directly impact the health and appearance of your skin. To optimise your dermal filler treatment and to support your skin’s integrity, a diet that is rich in whole foods including a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables is important. Make sure you increase your intake of skin-loving nutrients like zinc, vitamin C, collagen, omega 3’s and B vitamins. Think berries, colourful vegetables, nuts & seeds, avocado and salmon. Stay away from inflammatory foods including processed, fried, high-sugar and packaged foods. These foods can lead to damaged cells and accelerate the aging process.
Read our article ‘Foods for Glowing Skin This Summer‘ for more tips.
4. Stress management
Stress, whether it’s driven by your workload, financial woes, relationships or parenting, has a big impact on your overall health including the quality of your skin. When you’re stressed, chemical reactions occur and your body releases hormones such as cortisol to help you act against the threat (real or percieved) so injury can be prevented.
Now, we’re designed to handle small doses of stress, but our bodies aren’t equipped to handle chronic stress and as a result, we suffer the consequences. In terms of our skin, high levels of stress long term causes inflammation and speeds up the aging process. This can worsen the fine lines and wrinkles we’re trying to prevent. Reducing and managing your stress levels is essential to the longevity of your injectable treatment. Consider practising meditation, deep breathing or yoga daily. If those techniques aren’t for you try journalling, walking, grounding your feet in the sand or grass, or a relaxing activity like drawing, having a bath or paddleboarding.
5. Hydration
Keeping hydrated is on many people’s lists for maintaining optimal skin health. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day may help to maintain the results of hyaluronic acid fillers by enhancing their water-absorption ability. This can keep your skin looking voluminous and dewy rather than dull and dry.
6. Maintenance treatments
Undergoing regular touch-ups as advised by your Cosmetic Nurse before your injectable treatment results diminish can help your skin continue to look youthful. Maintenance treatments may also teach the muscles in the targeted areas of the face to respond more effectively to the hyaluronic acid optimising your results.
Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Procedures Set To Be Popular In 2020
Minimally invasive cosmetic surgery procedures are on the rise and there is no indication of this trend slowing down. From dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections to non-surgical facelifts, there is no shortage of ways you can rejuvenate your face and body.
The trend for non-surgical procedures and cosmetic surgery treatments with short recovery times is largely driven by a growing desire for instant results and minimal downtime. People want to resume their daily activities almost immediately and they don’t necessarily want to have to take extended leave from work or hideaway while their bruising and swelling goes down.
Here we share our predictions for the top most popular minimally invasive procedures for 2020.
1. Dermal fillers
If it’s instant gratification you’re after, dermal fillers are one of the most sought after cosmetic treatments. Dermal fillers allow for the rejuvenation and re-shaping of facial features without having to undergo cosmetic or plastic surgery. By replacing lost volume in the face and skin, your cosmetic injector can help minimise ageing, sagging and wrinkles, giving you natural results.
Dermal Fillers can be used in a variety of areas including the lips, chin, cheeks, jawlines or forehead. They’re even being used to reshape people’s nose instead of surgical nose jobs. And the results of dermal fillers can be seen almost immediately.
2. Anti-wrinkle injectables
One of the growing cosmetic trends is anti-wrinkle injections that help make you visibly younger by blocking the nerve impulses that control muscle movement. Whether it’s frown lines, crows feet or laugh lines, these injectables are effective at relaxing the facial muscles and require no downtime.
This is a ‘walk-in, walk-out’ procedure with the injections lasting 3-6 months depending on the severity of your lines. Unlike some of the “frozen faced” celebrities and social media influencers, the aim of the treatment is to retain movement of the facial areas for a natural appearance.
3. skin tightening
Improving skin quality and sagging, skin tightening is one of the latest skin re-surfacing techniques used in the cosmetic surgery industry. It’s ideal for those patients who desire some skin tightening after weight loss, pregnancy or ageing and who don’t want (or need) to undergo invasive surgeries such as a tummy tuck.
J-Plasma is used in conjunction with Vaser Liposuction, a body contouring procedure. During the cosmetic treatment, patients are placed under twilight sedation – a less invasive approach to general anaesthetic procedures. The downtime is 2-7 days with results for most patients seen in as little as 6 weeks.
4. Non-surgical eye lift
Treating baggy eyelids and wrinkles around the eyes can drastically change a person’s facial appearance. It’s no wonder then this non-surgical cosmetic treatment makes it to our list of minimally invasive surgery trends for 2020.
This procedure is an alternative to traditional eyelid surgery known as blepharoplasty which requires a scalpel or laser to remove the excess sagging tissue. A non-surgical eyelift instead uses a plasma device to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of the skin fibres. The same day procedure requires minimal downtime with final results seen in 2-4 weeks.
5. Broad Band Light Laser Treatment
Skin concerns are a common sight at Cosmos Clinic in particular pigmentation. Patients who have no luck with dermatologist-approved skincare treatments or chemical peels often turn to the Broad Band Light Laser Treatment. This minimally invasive treatment results in little to no discomfort and requires virtually no downtime.
The light energy from the Broad Band Light device heats “broken capillaries” and superficial “brown spots” improving the skin’s complexion. The procedure can take just a few minutes to half an hour depending on the treatment area and type of skin complaint. For optimal results, 3 laser treatments are recommended with 4-6 weeks in between each session.
