Is Weight Gain Possible after Vaser Liposuction in Gold Coast?

Vaser Liposuction is a renowned cosmetic surgery procedure for its body contouring abilities, making it a popular treatment at our Gold Coast clinic.

The surgical procedure appeals to many people who are struggling to shift excess fat deposits from areas such as their abdomen, love handles or outer thighs even by maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly.

However, there is often a misconception surrounding the Vaser Liposuction procedure with many believing it is a miracle weight loss solution and can end their excess fat cell woes. Best candidates of the cosmetic procedure are actually those who already maintain a healthy, active lifestyle and who want to continue to do so post fat removal.

Why? Because although Vaser Liposuction does permanently remove the excess fat cells from the targeted areas of the body, weight gain is still possible if the results aren’t maintained.

Fat cells are permanently removed with Vaser Liposuction

One of the main advantages of liposculpture is the ability to permanently remove excess fat cells from targeted areas of the body.

By making small incisions in the skin of the treated area, cosmetic surgeons are able to use a cannula to break up and melt the fat deposits before suctioning them out of the body.

In the process, the surgeons are contouring the areas of the body to sculpt and refine the individual’s shape. After the recovery time and the bruising subsides, the patients will be able to see the results of the liposuction procedure.

Once the fat deposits are removed from the targeted sites, they will not return and the results of the liposculpture will be permanent. However, this will not prevent future weight gain hence the reasons why liposuction is not considered a weight loss surgery.

What happens if I gain weight after my Vaser Liposuction in the Gold Coast?

Weight fluctuations throughout our lifetime are not uncommon. For some, managing these fluctuations can be easier than for others.

If you do happen to gain a small amount of weight after your Vaser Liposuction at any of our Cosmos Clinics, including the Gold Coast, it won’t have a dramatic impact on your results.

However, if you gain a considerable amount of weight post-liposuction procedure it can have a significant effect on your body shape. New fat cells may accumulate in both the treated and untreated areas of the body. Just like with weight gain during any other time of your life, you can’t anticipate or direct to where it goes.

While this may mean you increase your dress size, in most cases the body contouring effects of the Vaser Liposuction will remain. For example, if removing the desired amount of fat through the liposuction procedure has resulted in a curvaceous hourglass shape, this shape will remain, just a larger version.

This means, maintaining the results of your Vaser Liposuction does require you to adopt healthy lifestyle habits, preferably before you book into cosmetic surgery at our Gold Coast clinic.

Do I Need to Exercise after Vaser Liposuction in Adelaide?

Vaser Liposuction is a popular and successful cosmetic surgery procedure to remove excess fat cells. There are several types of people who are suitable for Vaser Liposuction, however active individuals, in particular, who have been hitting the gym to shift those stubborn fat deposits and build muscle may benefit more from Vaser Liposuction and it’s body contouring effects.

While the results of the Vaser Liposuction procedure are impressive, it’s important to understand, it is not a weight-loss tool. The surgical procedure also won’t prevent weight gain should you adopt unhealthy dietary habits and live a sedentary lifestyle in the future.

The overall results of the Vaser Liposuction procedure rely heavily on your ability to make healthy lifestyle choices prior and post the cosmetic surgery. This includes consideration of what’s on your plate and how frequent you exercise.

Resuming exercise after your Vaser Liposuction in Adelaide

Resuming exercise after your Vaser Liposuction procedure is not only beneficial for your overall health but also to maintain the fat cell removal and body contouring results.

One of the benefits of Vaser Liposuction over Traditional Liposuction or more invasive surgical procedures is the minimal recovery time required thanks to the gentle ultrasound technology and avoidance of general anaesthetics.

Patients are encouraged to resume normal daily activities a day or two after the cosmetic surgery. Light physical activity, such as walking, is advised immediately after liposuction to help prevent blood clots and the build-up of fluid.

Depending on the patient’s individual recovery and the presence of any side effects, most will get back into their vigorous activities such as aerobic workouts, strength training or running in as little as 2-3 weeks. It’s important to remember, you will be wearing a compression garment 3 weeks full time and 3 weeks part-time, so this many restrict some movement.

Take it slow

After Vaser Liposuction both men and women can be a little too enthusiastic to hit the gym and train at a high intensity to maintain the benefits of their liposculpture. While exercise is encouraged after your minimal downtime, it is important to take it slow initially, gradually increasing the intensity over time.

Vaser Liposuction recipients are recommended to begin exercising at approximately 25 per cent less than their usual workouts before gradually increasing the intensity as tolerated. This applies to both aerobic and resistance style training.

While there is very little risk of patient’s sustaining injury to their treated areas by hitting the gym hard from the word go, some exercises can feel uncomfortable. If you do feel discomfort, it’s a good sign you’re pushing too hard before your body has had the opportunity to recover fully.

Maintaining your Vaser Liposuction results

Vaser Liposuction allows cosmetic surgeons to target subcutaneous fat cells and contour the body shape. However, the potential negative of liposuction procedures is that the body can compensate by replacing the removed fatty tissue with visceral fat.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found women who didn’t exercise after their Liposuction surgery had a 10 per cent increase in visceral fat cells than they had prior to the cosmetic surgery.

Those individuals who exercised three times a week after the liposuction procedure didn’t gain any fat. They also had improved insulin sensitivity, reducing their risks of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes, as well as a marked improvement in their physical fitness.

This highlights that although excess fat cells targeted by Vaser Liposuction are permanently removed, it is important to exercise frequently in order to maintain the body contouring results and prevent an increase in visceral fat.

When deciding to undergo any cosmetic or plastic surgery, it is essential you have realistic expectations and are aware of the level of commitment required to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle long term.

Vaser Liposuction Adelaide: Best Choice for These People

Have some extra kilos that won’t shift with regular exercise and a healthy diet? You may be a suitable candidate for Vaser Liposuction.

Vaser Liposuction is one of the most sought-after cosmetic surgery procedures due to its effectiveness at removing stubborn fat cells and body contouring.

Cosmos Clinic in Adelaide, Australia is seeing an increase in the number of people enquiring about the liposuction procedure. And while it is an option for many people who have excess fat or desire a more shapely figure, it’s not for everyone.

If you’re are considering traditional Liposuction or Vaser Liposuction as a weight loss solution, this may not be the right procedure for you. And if you think you won’t have to exercise to maintain your new appearance, you may need to reconsider cosmetic surgery altogether.

However, if you’re looking for to help remove stubborn fat deposits that haven’t shifted with healthy eating and regular exercise, you may be the perfect candidate for the Vaser Liposuction. But there are three types of patients in particular who can benefit from Vaser Liposuction. These individuals are most likely to achieve optimal results and maintain them long term.

Patients of a stable, healthy weight

All cosmetic procedures, including Vaser Liposuction, that aim to shape the body or remove fat are most effective when the patient is of a stable weight within a healthy range.

Vaser Liposuction is not designed to be a weight-loss tool and it won’t prevent weight gain in the future. The surgical procedure can, however, be employed to help remove those stubborn fat deposits that have resisted healthy dietary changes and regular exercise.

Losing a substantial amount of weight post your liposuction procedure can affect your overall results of the cosmetic surgery. Likewise, substantial weight gain won’t necessarily affect the results of your liposculpture, however, your overall shape will be larger.

Being a stable, healthy weight prior to your Vaser Liposuction treatment will yield optimal results and help you maintain them long term.

Patients who are active

Active individuals who are struggling to shed those last few kilos of excess fat deposits even with regular exercise are often considered good candidates of Vaser Liposuction.

This is because the liposuction procedure can target specific areas of the body for fat removal – something exercise simply can’t achieve.

These patients have also adopted a healthy habit of frequent exercise before cosmetic surgery. Commitment to a healthy, balanced lifestyle following liposuction is imperative in order to sustain optimal results in the future.

Patients with good skin elasticity

Your skin health will have an effect on the results of your Vaser Liposuction. A good candidate for the cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure is one with firm, elastic skin.

When the skin is elastic, it will adapt better to liposculpture than those with reduced tone and sagging skin and properly contour to the treated area.

Fat deposits are removed quickly with Vaser Liposuction and much more fat is lost in the cosmetic surgery procedure then what would naturally occur. And while the ultrasound technology used in Vaser Liposuction does help to stimulate collagen production and encourages skin retraction, patients with elastic skin prior to the surgery may have superior results.

In the event you have substantial sagging of the skin due to recurrent pregnancies or extreme weight loss, you may better benefit from other plastic and cosmetic procedures such as Tummy Tuck.

For those with some minor sagging of the skin, the cosmetic surgeon may recommend the addition of Skin Tightening to help improve the quality of your skin and provide optimal body contouring results.

Traditional vs Vaser Liposuction In Adelaide

There are many ways for people to improve their physical appearance and in turn, boost their confidence. One method that has proved to be an effective solution to fat removal and body contouring for a variety of candidates is Liposuction.

Fat removal through the Liposuction technique has greatly advanced over the years with cosmetic surgeons now offering innovative forms of the procedure such as Vaser Liposuction and Vaser Hi-Def Liposuction.

If you are looking to reduce your stubborn fat cells and interested in body sculpting, understanding the differences between traditional Liposuction and the Vaser Liposuction procedure offered in our Adelaide Cosmetic surgery clinic is a must. Here, we take a look at the two popular fat removal techniques to help you find the best solution so you can say goodbye to the excess fat.

Traditional Liposuction procedure

The traditional Liposuction procedure was first introduced in the 1970s but gained popularity in the early 1980s with the development of a suction method to remove excess fat cells from the body.

Over the years, the plastic surgery procedure was refined. Anaesthetic options were introduced, incision techniques improved and the ability to break up fat deposits for a gentler approach was developed.

Traditional Liposuction is a surgical procedure the relies on the basic method of fat removal. Using a hollow cannula and a suction device, known as an aspirator, cosmetic surgeons are able to target numerous areas of the body with excess fat deposits.

The cosmetic or plastic surgeon use back and forth motions with the aspirator to dislodge the stubborn fat cells and remove them via suction. While traditional Liposuction is effective, the treatment can be time-consuming, physically demanding on the cosmetic surgeon and the results often lack precision. Trauma to the surrounding tissues can occur due to the manipulation, increasing the patient’s risks and recovery time. Irregularities under the skin may also be visible once the patient has healed from the lipo procedure.

Vaser Liposuction Procedure

As the cosmetic surgery industry advanced, so did the improvements in liposculpture techniques. Vaser Liposuction evolved from traditional Lipsocution methods providing patients with a safer and more precise option for fat removal.

Vaser, which stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, engages ultrasound technology to liquefy and melt the fat deposits before removal. This results in a less invasive procedure for both the cosmetic or plastic surgeon and the patient.

The Vaser Liposuction method aims to:

  1. Reduce the risk of surrounding tissue trauma
  2. Improve the accuracy of fat removal
  3. Increase the amount of fat that can be removed
  4. Allow for precise body contouring
  5. Increase the number of areas of the body that can be treated
  6. Encourage skin tightening and collagen production
  7. Minimise the noticeable scaring post liposuction surgery
  8. Minimise the downtime
  9. Reduce the severity of common side effects such as bruising and swelling

The refinement in the Vaser Liposuction treatment has resulted in a less invasive fat removal method. The procedure can be performed under twilight sedation reducing side effects associated with anaesthesia and minimising the downtime.

The results of the Vaser Liposuction procedure are arguably fair more superior than those of Traditional Liposuction making it a preferred option for many.

Should I Have Vaser Liposuction in Canberra or Tummy Tuck?

Conscious of the excess fat around your abdominal region? Want a flatter tummy to show off in your bikini?

Vaser Liposuction and Abdominoplasty (otherwise known as Tummy Tuck) are two of the most popular and effective procedures to help address excess fat from the tummy. As this is a common problem area, among the many questions the cosmetic surgery team in Canberra get asked is what are the differences between the two procedures and which one is right for me.

Should I have Vaser Liposuction or a Tummy Tuck?

Both the Vaser Liposuction procedure and Tummy Tuck can be highly effective at removing abdominal fat cells that haven’t responded to a healthy lifestyle. However, they are two entirely different cosmetic surgery options that attract different candidates and offer very different results.

We look at the key differences between the two fat reduction cosmetic procedures to help you determine which option might be right for you.

Issues addressed

Vaser Liposuction is a body contouring treatment that uses ultrasound technology to remove excess fatty tissue from areas of the body such as the abdomen, love handles and thighs. It also helps to stimulate collagen production which enables the cosmetic surgeon to shape the body without any skin dimpling.

A Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty), on the other hand, is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove excess fat tissue and sagging or loose skin from the abdomen. It also works to tighten the abdominal muscles to create a stronger, flatter stomach.

The procedure

Vaser Liposuction is a day procedure performed under twilight sedation in the surgical rooms of Cosmos Clinic. Small incisions are made in the targeted areas of the body before a cannula is inserted to gently suction up the excess fat cells and contour the body shape.

Tummy Tuck is a hospital procedure that is only performed by Cosmos Clinic out of Sydney. Patients are placed under general anaesthetic before incisions are made to remove the excess skin and stubborn fat from hip to hip. Depending on the extent of the fat and skin removal, patients may need to remain in the hospital for a couple of days post-surgery.

Complexity

Vaser liposuction is performed under twilight sedation and is a less invasive cosmetic procedure when compared to Tummy Tuck. As greater incisions are made and loose skin removed and reattached in addition to fat, an abdominoplasty is a more complex surgery requiring general anaesthesia.

The cost

A Tummy Tuck is a more expensive surgical procedure starting at $12,000.00 due to the need for hospitalisation, general anaesthesia, surgical staff and greater complexity. Vaser Liposuction, on the other hand, starts at $4,400.00 depending on the number of areas treated and the extent of the excess fat removal.

Recovery time

Tummy Tuck patients need to allow 2-4 weeks of recovery time post the cosmetic surgery. They will also need to make adjustments to their daily activities and exercise to allow for the skin to heal adequately. Vaser Liposuction patients can benefit from shorter downtime with most able to resume their usual activities within 2-7 days of the procedure. They will, however, be required to wear compression garments for 5-6 weeks to support the healing process.

Scarring

As only small incisions are made for liposculpture, patients will have minimal scarring. Those who opt for a Tummy Tuck will have a larger scar extending from hip to hip. In both cases, the cosmetic or plastic surgeon will strategically place the incisions to make them less obvious and over time the scars may fade.

Will Vaser Liposuction give me curves in all the right places? Should I have Vaser Liposuction or a tummy tuck to get a flat stomach? What happens if I put on weight after the cosmetic surgery?

4. Based on my goals, is this the right procedure for me?

Vaser Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that suits a large variety of patients who need assistance addressing stubborn fat deposits. However, not all patients are the best candidates for liposuction surgery. This may be due to their medical history, skin quality or weight loss expectations.

It is important you have an open and honest conversation with your cosmetic or plastic surgery team to ascertain whether Vaser Liposuction is the right option for you and your body contouring goals. In some cases, they may suggest an alternative procedure to address the excess fat cells such as CoolSculpting, Vaser Hi-Definition or Tummy Tuck.

5. Can I see before and after photos of similar cases?

Before and after photos of similar cases can be a great way to help you feel confident your chosen cosmetic surgeon can deliver results you will be happy with. Just keep in mind, every individual is different and will respond to the cosmetic surgery differently which can affect the final results.

6. What are the benefits of Vaser Liposuction?

Discuss with your cosmetic surgeon the benefits of the ultrasound technology over other procedures such as traditional liposuction so you can have a detailed understanding of the procedure. Even though you may have carried out your own research, it’s helpful for the benefits to be explained in relation to your body shape and goals.

7. What are the limitations of Vaser Liposuction?

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, Vaser Liposuction does come with its limitations on what it can and can’t achieve. For example, the procedure removes fat cells and can address skin tone, but it doesn’t include the removal of excess or sagging skin. You’ll want to know the limitations to ensure you’re going to gain full benefit from the liposuction procedure.

8. Are there any risks associated with this cosmetic procedure?

Beyond worrying about how much bruising will be visible and your recovery time, it is crucial you are aware of any risks associated with Vaser Liposuction before you commit. Once you understand the possible complications you can make an informed decision as to whether the liposculpture procedure is right for you.

Non-Surgical Nose Job in Canberra: Dermal Fillers Used

As the non-surgical rhinoplasty and other dermal filler procedures become more popular, as well as advancements in cosmetic surgery products, there is an increase in the types of injectables available.

Choosing the right cosmetic clinic to have your non-surgical nose job can be a difficult task in itself without the need of having to choose a quality dermal filler product too. There are many reasons to consider Cosmos Clinic in Canberra including the fact that we use a quality hyaluronic acid injectable for our dermal filler treatments such as non-surgical rhinoplasty, lip enhancement or an anti-wrinkle treatment.

The types of dermal fillers used

Here, we explain why we opt for hyaluronic acid fillers and discuss other options you may be considering if you are a good candidate for a non-surgical nose job.

Hyaluronic acid

All of our Cosmos Clinics (Sydney, Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne) use hyaluronic acid dermal fillers in our cosmetic procedures. These fillers are the most popular category of injectables due to several reasons.

  • Firstly, the body naturally produces the substances in areas such as the skin and joints.
  • Secondly, hyaluronic acid has been found to retain collagen and increase moisture which helps to provide elasticity, flexibility and a more youthful appearance.
  • Thirdly, because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance, it is naturally dissolved by the body. This means the results can be reversed in the event of a change of mind or there has been an overcorrection. Semi-permanent fillers, on the other hand, last in the body for a longer period of time and some of the substance remains in the body indefinitely. The results of the fillers typically last between 18-24 months.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can not only be used to treat areas of the face such as the nose but can also be effective as a preventative treatment, reducing the visible signs of aging. This is because repeated dermal filler injections can help to stimulate natural collagen production which results to increase firmness and volume.

Calcium hydroxylapatite

Calcium hydroxylapatite is a dermal filler substance that was initially used in dentistry and reconstructive plastic surgery before being used for cosmetic procedures. This is a mineral-like compound that is also naturally present in our bodies and found in bones. It’s one of the heaviest and thickest injectables available and is used typically for deep wrinkle treatments, check enhancement and nose reshaping.

Like hyaluronic acid injectables, Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers aren’t permanent and will naturally dissolve in the body with results lasting between 12-18 months.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid

Poly-L-Lactic Acid dermal fillers are made of a biocompatible synthetic substance, meaning they are not naturally made by the body but are believed to be safe. These dermal fillers are also biodegradable and were first used by the medical industry to make dissolvable stitches. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, those made of poly-L-Lactic acid don’t produce immediate results. This is because they are classified as “collagen stimulators” with the full effect taking up to 4-6 weeks.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid fillers are known to best to treat deep facial wrinkles, deep nasolabial folds or fine lines caused by laughing rather than in non-surgical rhinoplasty. The results are semi-permanent lasting more than 24 months but will require occasional touch-ups.

What to ask before your dermal filler appointment

Here are a few questions you should ask your treating cosmetic practitioner before your dermal filler procedure:

  1. What are your qualifications?
  2. What dermal filler product are you using for my treatment?
  3. Is this a TGA-approved product?
  4. How long have you been using their injectables?
  5. What are the risks and side effects involved?

Am I a Good Candidate for a Non-Surgical Nose Job at Cosmos Clinic in Canberra?

Am I be a good candidate for a non-surgical nose job?

Can dermal fillers correct a dent in the bridge of the nose? Can it minimise the hump in my nose? Will injectables make my nasal tip more defined?

These are just some of the common enquiries about non-surgical rhinoplasty we receive at our Cosmos Clinic in Canberra. Located in the heart of Canberra’s medical hub, this dermal filler cosmetic procedure has been growing in popularity and for good reason.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can help correct a range of cosmetic concerns without the need for plastic surgery. The cosmetic procedure delivers immediate results with no downtime, minor bruising and minimal side effects.

But are you a good candidate for non-surgical nose reshaping?

Common concerns improved by a non-surgical nose job

Here we list some of the common concerns that can be improved by a non-surgical nose job using dermal fillers. This can be used as a guide to help you determine whether you will gain the desired results from a non-surgical procedure or require traditional rhinoplasty.

However, if you are serious about improving the appearance of your nose with cosmetic surgery, it’s best you arrange an appointment at Cosmos Clinic in Canberra for an individual assessment of your nose and an understanding of your expectations.

My nose is slightly off-centred

Dermal fillers can be used to make the nose appear straighter, making it more symmetrical and in line with your facial features.

The tip of my nose is droopy and lacks definition

Using injectables, your nose tip can be subtly lifted to create a more defined shape. For some, this helps to provide a more feminine appearance of the nose and can soften their overall face.

I have a hump on the nose bridge from a sports injury

Bumps and lumps, naturally occurring or caused by a past injury, can be camouflaged using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. This can create a smoother, straighter profile and hide those cosmetic concerns that have lowered your self-confidence.

My nose bridge is flat with no shape

A flat bridge of the nose can cause a lack in the definition of your overall face. Injectable fillers can be used to lift the nasal bridge by subtly increasing its height. It won’t make your nose look smaller, just give it a more defined shape.

My nose is very angular and hard looking

Overall softness can be created using hyaluronic dermal fillers which can make your nose appear less angular and more feminine. The injection sites are strategically positioned to enhance the look of your nose so that it still remains proportionate to the rest of your facial features.

There is a dent in my nose

Dents in the nose bridge can effectively be corrected in a non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure. Dermal fillers can be used to fill the dent of your nose creating a straighter, more attractive, profile.

My nose is broad and masculine

While a non-surgical nose job can’t make your nose smaller, with clever contouring, the nose can appear narrower in comparison with your other facial features.

Vaser Liposuction in Sydney: Recovery Tips

A key aspect of getting prepared for your Vaser Liposuction at Cosmos Clinic in Sydney, Australia is knowing the dos and dont’s of your recovery.

While Vaser Liposuction is a day cosmetic surgery procedure and considered less invasive when compared to traditional liposuction, allowing adequate recovery time and adhering to your surgeon’s post-operative advice is vital for your final results. After all, you don’t want to endure surgery and spend your savings on a cosmetic procedure only to need corrective surgery or achieve subpar results.

Here are our top Vaser Liposuction recovery tips

1. Allow time to recover

The cosmetic procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours to remove the unwanted fat cells from the treated areas. Unlike traditional liposuction which is performed under general anaesthetic, you’ll be placed under twilight sedation. This can help reduce the recovery time needed, particularly right after the procedure, and reduce some of the side effects associated with going under.

You’ll need to allow a recovery period of approximately 2 hours in the Sydney clinic before being allowed to go home to rest and recuperate.

For some patients, they will be feeling back to themselves and ready to resume some of their normal activities within 2 to 3 days. For others, a recovery time of 7 days is more realistic. This will depend on the extent of the Vaser Liposuction procedure and fat cell removal, as well as your body’s natural ability to heal.

When you can expect to see your final results will also vary from patient to patient and will be dependant on your recovery. Most start to see the final liposculpture results within 6 weeks of the cosmetic procedure.

2. Wear your compression garments

They may not be the most attractive or comfortable things to wear, but compression garments are integral to your health and recovery after Vaser Liposuction and your final results.

The compression garments help to:

  • Compress the skin of the treated areas
  • Prevent swelling of fluid post sculpting procedure
  • Aid tightening of the skin to improve body contouring
  • Reduce swelling and increase circulation

The compression garment should be fitted properly to apply consistent pressure. They should be comfortable enough for you to wear up to 23 hours a day. You’ll only need to remove the garment for bathing or washing.

3. Attend your lymphatic drainage massage appointments

To enhance the healing process, speed up your recovery time and improve your overall liposuction results it is vital you attend the scheduled lymphatic drainage massage appointments.

This gentle massage helps to squeeze out any excess fluid and swelling that has accumulated under the skin and between the muscles.

Before you book your Vaser Liposuction at Cosmos Clinic Sydney, make sure you are available to attend the appointments needed. It’s not uncommon for a patient to have 4-5 lymphatic massages scheduled in the first 10 days of their recovery post-Vaser Liposuction.

4. Take care of your surgical sites

Postoperative bruising and swelling are common after the surgical procedure. Patients should also expect some leaking of the numbing solutions from the small incisions made for the cannula insertion.

It takes on average about two weeks for these small incision wounds to heal after liposuction surgery. You’ll be provided with information on how to care for your wounds and avoid infection during your recovery period.

Keeping your surgical sites clean, dry and well-dressed will help maintain the health of the incisions and improve your recovery.

Small, straw-like drains will be inserted into areas of the abdomen to help the leaking fluid drain for the treated areas faster. You should expect to have these drains for 4-5 days before being removed during one of your follow-up consultations.
