Contouring your body for a more muscular appearance
Vaser High Definition goes one step further in the process of body sculpting than Vaser Liposuction. Developed for men and women who want a more athletic and muscular appearance, the Vaser High Definition technique removes fat from around and on-top of the muscle groups, to enhance the visibility of underlying muscles, producing ultra-defined results.

Achieve beautiful muscle definition using state of the art Vaser technology
The best candidates have good skin tone, and can feel the muscle underneath the skin, when contracting. For example Vaser High Definition would remove the small amounts of fat in-between the abs, to bring out a perfect, athletic looking six pack.
- Precision: Vaser High Definition can achieve this high level of muscle definition. Other forms of liposculpture can not achieve this.
- Gentle: Vaser turns fat tissue into a ‘butter’ like consistency, making it easier to suction out. This makes the procedure much more gentle as opposed to the ‘brick’ like consistency of fat with traditional liposuction, which is more aggressive and increases the risk of irregularities.
- Quicker Recovery: Most patients have minimal pain and bruising. Generally most patients return to work within 4-7 days. There is far less swelling and bruising when compared with traditional liposuction.
- Natural, smooth results: Vaser Liposuction melts the fat allowing for a more uniform removal of the fat cells while at the same time tightening the skin.
- Instant Shaping:Â Immediate improvements are generally seen which continue to improve over the proceeding 6 months.
Below outlines the procedure to expect on the day of Vaser Hi Def Liposuction.
Step 1: Conscious Sedation & Incision Medications are given to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Incisions (half a centimetre wide) are then made in hidden spots, to allow for the introduction of the cannula. General anaesthetic is an option.
Step 2: Infiltration The area to be reshaped is filled with a tumescent saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (this helps minimise any blood loss and reduce bruising).
Step 3: VASER A small probe is inserted into the treatment area. It transmits sound energy to break up and liquefy or melt the fat tissue, whilst preserving other important tissues.
Step 4: Suction This technique allows the removal of the fat layer just under the skin to allow for the creation of an abdominal six-pack, with a cannula designed to minimise trauma to surrounding tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. This approach promotes smooth results and rapid healing. The suction process puts specific emphasis on outlining the muscles of the upper body, like the rectus abdominis, serratus anterior, obliques, pectorals and latissimus dorsi.
Step 5: Skin Retraction The heat from the ultrasound causes the skin to retract to give a smooth, natural result.

Vaser HD recovery & what to expect
After your Vaser Hi Def Liposuction treatment, some fluid drainage can occur from the incision point and drains, this will normally last for 3-5 days. A compression garment will need to be worn for 3 – 6 weeks to assist in reducing bruising/swelling and improve skin retraction. You will return home on the same day of the procedure. You will not be bed-ridden, and we encourage you to move about and not be stagnate. Everybody heals differently, you know your own body and we suggest you listen to it and give yourself time to heal properly. Normal daily activities can be returned to the day after the procedure, however vigorous activities such as exercise or sports must be avoided for 4-6 weeks. You will require regular lymphatic massages over 2 weeks, with our onsite physiotherapist or nurse. The lymphatic drainage massage helps speed up recovery by dispersing the excess fluid to help provide the best results possible. The swelling will peak at 7 – 10 days and subside at 3 -6 weeks. Bruising will last 2-3 weeks. At weeks 2-3 you may develop some underlying scar tissue that can be treated using PRP at our clinic. The 1/2 cm incisions will heal in under a week. To optimise your recovery process, become familiar with the do’s of Liposuction recovery:
- Do wear your liposuction compression garments
- Do maintain a healthy diet
- Do listen to your body
- Do take care of your surgical sites
- Do attend post surgical check ups

Frequently asked
Vaser Liposuction uses ultrasound technology to break down fat cells, making them easier to remove. The procedure begins with small incisions in the targeted areas, where a tumescent local anaesthetic solution is injected. This solution numbs the area and minimises bleeding.
An ultrasound cannula is then inserted to emit energy waves that break down the fat deposits. Then, the fat is suctioned out using a cannula. The procedure is performed under IV sedation or, for patients requiring deeper sedation, general anaesthesia may be used.
The duration of Vaser Hi Def Liposuction surgery depends on the patient’s individual requirements, including the areas being treated, the underlying muscle, and the amount of fat to be removed. Generally, procedures take between one to four hours to complete. Your doctor will provide a more specific estimate during your consultations.
Vaser Hi Def Liposuction is designed for patients who already have some level of visible muscle structure and are seeking the appearance of more definition. It is often selected for areas like the abdomen or chest. On the other hand, Vaser Liposuction is suitable for a broader range of patients seeking to address excess fat in various body areas.
The following indicators are just a guide and do not guarantee suitability for an ultrasound-assisted liposuction procedure – suitability is always determined during a personalised consultation. You are in good physical and mental health. You have realistic expectations, and understand the final results of muscle definition takes time.
At Cosmos Clinic, all patients considering Vaser High Definition Liposuction must follow a thorough consultation process. A referral from your GP is required before attending two initial consultations with our doctors, spaced at least seven days apart. Additionally, a mandatory seven-day cooling-off period must be observed before booking the procedure.
During the consultations, the doctor will assess your overall health, review any pre-existing medical conditions, and evaluate the areas of fat you wish to address. Discussions will cover topics such as: Realistic expectations regarding potential outcomes.
Following surgery, most patients can return home on the same day. Fluid drainage from the incision sites is expected and may last for about a week or longer. You will be given specialised compression garments to wear for six weeks, which help manage swelling, reduce bruising, and support skin retraction.
While most patients can resume light daily activities around a week after surgery, strenuous exercise and vigorous sports should be avoided for approximately six weeks. Recovery timelines vary, and your doctor will guide you based on your specific procedure.
As with any surgical procedure, scarring is an expected outcome. The incisions made during Vaser Hi Def Liposuction are small and typically placed in discreet locations. The doctor will discuss the placement of these incisions during your consultations. Over time, scars may fade, especially with the use of silicone scar creams, though results can vary based on skin type and healing tendencies.
While you may notice changes immediately after the procedure, final results require patience. Post-operative swelling needs to subside, and the skin needs time to retract. Wearing compression garments as instructed is critical to supporting this process. It can take three to six months for final results to fully develop. During this time, improvements will continue as swelling reduces and the treated areas stabilise.
Like any surgical procedure, Vaser Hi Def Liposuction carries risks. These include: Common Side Effects: Pain, swelling, bruising, and fluid drainage. Scarring: All surgical procedures result in scars, though their appearance may vary. Skin Irregularities: Uneven texture, tethering, or lumpiness can occur.
Infections: Rare but possible. Seroma: Fluid accumulation under the skin. Haematoma: Blood pooling under the skin. Skin Sensation Changes: Temporary or persistent numbness or changes in feeling. Serious Risks: Though rare, complications such as blood clots, organ perforation, or fat embolism can occur and may be life-threatening.
