THE PROCEDURE
At Cosmos Clinic, we exclusively use Vaser technology for all liposuction procedures. Vaser, short for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance,” is an advanced liposuction method that uses ultrasound energy to prepare fat cells for removal, offering a refined alternative to traditional techniques.
Unlike traditional, more “aggressive” methods, Vaser Liposuction uses ultrasound waves to soften and loosen fat cells, making them easier to remove. This technique is particularly effective for men, as male fat deposits are often more fibrous and challenging to address. Additionally, the heat from the Vaser probe may assist with skin retraction, helping to minimise the risk of lax skin after the procedure.
Vaser Liposuction for men is performed under local anaesthesia with twilight sedation, though general anaesthesia can be arranged if preferred. Once the area is numbed, the doctor makes small incisions to insert the Vaser probe. The probe emits ultrasound waves to break apart the fat cells. After this, a cannula is used to suction the liquefied fat out of the body.
For those seeking more defined results, Vaser Hi Definition Liposuction may be an option. This advanced technique involves refining fat layers to enhance the appearance of muscle groups, such as the abdomen, chest, and arms. It may be suitable for candidates who have good skin elasticity and visible muscle tone prior to the procedure.
The cost of Vaser Liposuction at Cosmos Clinic depends on several factors, including the areas treated, the amount of fat being removed, and the complexity of the surgery.

POST SURGERY
Vaser Liposuction is a same-day surgical procedure, meaning most men can return home shortly after the procedure. While mild discomfort, swelling, and fluid leakage from incision sites are normal during the initial recovery phase, these effects are temporary. Medications will be provided to manage any pain or discomfort, and most patients can resume light daily activities, including work, within one week.
To optimise healing and achieve the best outcomes, the following recovery measures are recommended:
As with any surgical procedure, Vaser Liposuction carries risks and potential complications. While generally well-tolerated, it’s important to be aware of the following possibilities:
Your doctor will discuss these risks in detail during consultations to ensure you make an informed decision about the procedure. Additionally, you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to minimise complications and promote a smooth recovery.
If you fit the following criteria, you may be a potential candidate for male liposuction:
The above criteria is just a guide. The best way to determine whether you are suitable for male liposuction is to meet with our Cosmos Clinic doctors for a consultation.
During your consultation, your doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions. To avoid surgical complications and ensure a speedy recovery, you must quit smoking at least two weeks before surgery, and your doctor may ask you to avoid certain medications and supplements. We also recommend that you prepare for recovery by purchasing comfortable clothes, preparing some healthy meals and filling any required prescriptions. You will also need to arrange for somebody to pick you up from the hospital and help around the house for the first few days after the procedure.
You should not feel any pain during your Vaser liposuction procedure, as you will be under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia. If you do experience any discomfort during recovery, you can alleviate this with medications prescribed by your doctor.
Once your doctor has removed the fat cells from your body, they are permanently gone. However, you can still gain weight after male liposuction, as the remaining fat cells can grow in size. In order to maintain results in the long term, we recommend that our patients make healthy lifestyle changes following surgery, such as exercising more regularly and enjoying a more balanced diet.
Your male liposuction procedure can take anywhere from one to four hours to complete, depending on the number of areas treated and the amount of fat removed.
At Cosmos Clinic, our doctors aim for a single liposuction procedure. However, men who wish to remove large amounts of fat may need a second procedure. Your doctor will give his suggestions on whether you may need a second procedure during your consultation.
Liposuction for men, as with any invasive procedure, will leave behind a scar. Despite this, significant scarring following male liposuction is rare.
