THE RESULTS
At Cosmos Aesthetics, we’ve performed thousands of liposuction procedures for men across each of our clinics (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Canberra). Post Vaser liposuction, results such as a firmer body shape may be observed, however, outcomes vary between individuals. Our Vaser technology has the added benefit of tightening the skin, so you don’t need to concerned about having lax skin after the procedure.
Not quite ready for surgery? You can achieve more subtle results with our non-surgical liposuction alternative, CoolSculpting.
THE PROCEDURE
At Cosmos Aesthetics, we use Vaser technology for all liposuction procedures. Vaser, which stands for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance,” represents a significant advancement in liposuction technology, utilising ultrasonic energy to break apart fat cells before their removal.
Vaser offers a less invasive and more precise approach compared to traditional liposuction methods. Previously, male liposuction was described by some as attempting to extract a solid block of fat through a narrow tube, often resulting in increased discomfort and longer recovery periods. Vaser, however, uses ultrasound waves to separate fat cells from fibrous tissue, softening it for easier removal. This is particularly beneficial for men, as they tend to have more fibrous fat tissue. Additionally, the heat generated by the Vaser machine helps contract the skin, reducing the risk of excess skin after the procedure.
Liposuction for men is typically performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, though general anaesthesia can be requested if preferred. Once the area is numbed, small incisions are made, and the Vaser probe is inserted. The probe moves back and forth, breaking apart the fat cells. As the tissue separates, a cannula is used to remove the fat from the body.
Vaser Hi Definition may be an option for men seeking more pronounced muscle definition. This procedure involves relocating fat to accentuate muscle groups such as the abdomen, chest, arms, and back. It suits men with good skin elasticity, quality and already visible muscle tone.
The cost of Vaser Liposuction varies based on factors such as the areas being treated, the amount of fat removal required, and the complexity of the procedure. At Cosmos Aesthetics, we provide customised pricing tailored to each individual’s treatment plan, ensuring a transparent and straightforward process.
Typically, pricing for Vaser Liposuction includes the procedure itself, anaesthesia (local or general, depending on preference), and post-operative care. During your consultation, your doctor will assess your specific needs and provide a detailed quote, outlining all associated costs.

OUR EXPERIENCE
At Cosmos Aesthetics, liposuction is the core of what we do. Over the last ten years, we’ve performed over 15,000 Vaser liposuction procedures, many of those being for men. In fact, we were the first practice in New South Wales to use Vaser technology, and we now own the most Vaser systems in the world.
We treat men all across Australia, and you can have your liposuction and procedure at any of our cosmetic clinics. We are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Canberra.
Additionally, we treat dozens of interstate and overseas patients every year and have set procedures in place for those travelling to us for surgery.
POST SURGERY
Vaser Liposuction is a surgical procedure that allows most men to return home the same day. While some discomfort and mild pain are common, medications will be prescribed to manage these symptoms. Some patients may experience fluid leakage from incisions for 3-5 days, but recovery is typically straightforward, with many returning to work within a week.
To support recovery, minimise swelling, and aid skin contraction, wearing a compression garment is essential. This is typically recommended for three weeks full-time, followed by three weeks part-time. Regular follow-up lymphatic massages—usually twice a week for two weeks—are also advised to promote healing.
If you fit the following criteria, you may be a potential candidate for male liposuction:
Of course, the above criteria is just a guide. The best way to determine whether you are suitable for male liposuction is to meet with our Cosmos Aesthetics doctors for a consultation.
During your consultation, your doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions. To avoid surgical complications and ensure a speedy recovery, you must quit smoking at least two weeks before surgery, and your doctor may ask you to avoid certain medications and supplements. We also recommend that you prepare for recovery by purchasing comfortable clothes, preparing some healthy meals and filling any required prescriptions. You will also need to arrange for somebody to pick you up from the hospital and help around the house for the first few days after the procedure.
You should not feel any pain during your Vaser liposuction procedure, as you will be under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia. If you do experience any discomfort during recovery, you can alleviate this with medications prescribed by your doctor.
Most men notice a subtle improvement immediately after surgery. However, you will need to allow time for post-operative swelling to subside and the skin to retract and tighten before your final results become visible. Your Vaser liposuction results will gradually improve over time, with your final results appearing at around six months.
Once your doctor has removed the fat cells from your body, they are permanently gone. However, you can still gain weight after male liposuction, as the remaining fat cells can grow in size. In order to maintain results in the long term, we recommend that our patients make healthy lifestyle changes following surgery, such as exercising more regularly and enjoying a more balanced diet.
Your male liposuction procedure can take anywhere from one to four hours to complete, depending on the number of areas treated and the amount of fat removed.
At Cosmos Aesthetics, our doctors aim for a single liposuction procedure. However, men who wish to remove large amounts of fat may need a second procedure. Your doctor will give his suggestions on whether you may need a second procedure during your consultation.
Depending on your distribution of fat and your desired surgical outcome, your doctor will remove between three and five litres of fat. Removing any more than this can put your safety and comfort at risk. In fact, one study found that removing more than five litres of fat can increase complication rates by 3.7 percent. As such, men who wish to remove more than five litres of fat will need to undergo a second liposuction procedure.
Liposuction for men, as with any invasive procedure, will leave behind a scar. Despite this, significant scarring following male liposuction is rare, as the incisions required to insert the Vaser probes are only small and will be placed in inconspicuous locations.
Every invasive procedure comes with risk. However, Vaser liposuction for men is typically regarded as less risky than traditional liposuction. Some potential side effects to be aware of include:
