Achieve a firmer, more masculine body contour with Vaser Liposuction. This body sculpting procedure can help men reduce stubborn fat, create a more athletic, toned appearance and even minimise the appearance of man boobs. Vaser liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure, so you can return to life as usual in just a few days.
At Cosmos Clinic, we’ve performed thousands of liposuction procedures for men across each of our clinics (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Canberra). Following your Vaser liposuction procedure, you can expect a firmer, more masculine body shape, with your fat more evenly distributed across the body. Our Vaser technology has the added benefit of tightening the skin, so you don’t need to concerned about having lax skin after the procedure.
Not quite ready for surgery? You can achieve more subtle results with our non-surgical liposuction alternative, CoolSculpting.
Melt stubborn fat cells for a firmer, more masculine body contour
Here at Cosmos Clinic, we utilise Vaser technology for all of our liposuction procedures. Vaser (“Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance”) is the latest advancement in liposuction and uses ultrasonic energy to break apart fat cells before they are removed from the body.
Vaser offers a far gentler approach when compared to other liposuction techniques. In the past, male liposuction was far less refined, with many doctors comparing the process to trying to suck a brick of fat out through a straw. As a result, patients could expect more pain and prolonged recovery times. On the other hand, Vaser uses ultrasound waves to separate fat cells from the fibrous tissue, turning it to a more butter-like consistency. This makes the fat far easier to remove, which is particularly beneficial for men who usually have more fibrous fat. The heat delivered by the Vaser machine also works to contract the skin, which reduces the amount of lax skin after the procedure.
Liposuction for men is usually performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, although you can request a general anaesthetic if preferred. Once numb, your Cosmos Clinic doctor will make small incisions in the treated area, through which the Vaser probe is inserted. The probe is moved back and forth to liquefy the fat cells and, as the tissue is broken apart, your doctor will use a cannula to vacuum the fat out of the body.
At Cosmos Clinic, liposuction is the core of what we do. Over the last ten years, we’ve performed over 15,000 Vaser liposuction procedures, many of those being for men. In fact, we were the first practice in New South Wales to use Vaser technology, and we now own the most Vaser systems in the world.
We treat men all across Australia, and you can have your liposuction and procedure at any of our cosmetic clinics. We are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Canberra.
Additionally, we treat dozens of interstate and overseas patients every year and have set procedures in place for those travelling to us for surgery. If you are interested in travelling to one of our clinics, please send us images of your desired treatment areas, and let us know where you are located so that our staff can provide you with all of the relevant information in your personalised quote.
Vaser liposuction for men is a minimally invasive procedure, with most patients returning home on the same day. While some mild pain and discomfort are typical, your doctor will prescribe medications to relieve this. Many men also experience some fluid seepage from their incisions for 3-5 days after the procedure. Despite this, overall recovery is rather easy, and most patients can go back to work after one week.
To improve healing times, reduce post-operative swelling and help the skin retract, patients will need to wear a compression garment, usually for three weeks full time and three weeks part-time. We also recommend that our patients return to the clinic for regular follow up lymphatic massages, typically twice a week for two weeks.
Before your procedure, become familiar with the do’s of liposuction recovery in order to optimise healing:
Do wear your liposuction compression garments
Do maintain a healthy diet
Do listen to your body
Do take care of your surgical sites
Do attend post-surgical checkups
How much does liposuction for men cost?
If you are considering male liposuction, you probably want to know how much the procedure will cost you. However, Vaser liposuction does not fit a one price fits all strategy, and costs vary from patient to patient. The cost of your male liposuction procedure will depend on factors such as:
The area/s treated
The amount of fat removed
The patient’s body type
The amount of time spent in surgery
The type of anaesthetic used
At Cosmos Clinic, our liposuction procedures start from $4,400. However, if you are interested in treated multiple body areas, this will reduce your overall costs and recovery time. We charge $2,000 for each additional area treated.
If you are interested in adding muscle definition, our Vaser Hi Definition procedures for men start at $10,000 for one area. To receive the most accurate quote for your procedure, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our doctors.
Popular liposuction areas for men
Men often store excess fat in the abdominal region, leading to the “beer belly” that many men struggle with. Vaser liposuction can be used to restore a more masculine abdomen, with incisions placed strategically in the belly button or in the underwear line.
An imbalance of sex hormones can lead to excess breast tissue and fat in men, known as gynecomastia. If you are self-conscious about the appearance of your “man boobs”, Vaser liposuction can remove both excess fat and glandular tissue to create a more athletic, muscular chest.
Also known as love handles, the flanks are a common area of concern for men. Your flanks sit above the hip bone area and often hang over your jeans, which many find quite unflattering. Vaser liposuction can create a much smoother appearance, with incisions hidden within the underwear line.
Back fat is usually quite fibrous, which makes it resistant to diet and exercise efforts. While once challenging to treat, our Vaser technology liquefies this fibrous fat before removal so that you can enjoy a more toned back appearance.
Many men struggle with the appearance of a double chin and lack of a strong jawline, particularly with age. Vaser liposuction can also be used to address stubborn fat on the jaw and neckline to create a more sculpted, masculine face shape.
Create a more athletic physique with Vaser Hi Definition
Not only can Vaser liposuction remove unwanted deposits of stubborn fat, but it can also create a more muscular, athletic appearance. If your gym efforts aren’t giving you the muscle definition you desire, you may want to consider Vaser Hi Definition.
Vaser Hi Definition is a form of liposculpture designed to relocate fat throughout the body to enhance the visibility of muscles. Common areas for Vaser Hi Def include the abdomen (to create a defined 6-pack), chest (to make the pectoral muscles more pronounced), arms (to add fine detail to the biceps and triceps) and the back (to define the laterals). Vaser Hi Definition is best suited for men who have good skin tone, thick skin and can feel the muscles beneath the skin when contracting. You can learn more about Vaser Hi Def here.
Am I a suitable candidate for Vaser liposuction?
If you fit the following criteria, you may be a potential candidate for male liposuction:
You struggle with stubborn pockets of fat, despite exercise and diet efforts
You have realistic expectations regarding what liposuction can achieve
You are in good physical and mental health
You have good skin elasticity
You are willing to follow healthy diet and exercise habits after surgery to maintain results
You are a non-smoker or are prepared to quit in the weeks before and after surgery
Of course, the above criteria is just a guide. The best way to determine whether you are suitable for male liposuction is to meet with our Cosmos Clinic doctors for a consultation.
How do I prepare for my procedure?
During your consultation, your doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions. To avoid surgical complications and ensure a speedy recovery, you must quit smoking at least two weeks before surgery, and your doctor may ask you to avoid certain medications and supplements. We also recommend that you prepare for recovery by purchasing comfortable clothes, preparing some healthy meals and filling any required prescriptions. You will also need to arrange for somebody to pick you up from the hospital and help around the house for the first few days after the procedure.
Is Vaser liposuction painful?
You should not feel any pain during your Vaser liposuction procedure, as you will be under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia. If you do experience any discomfort during recovery, you can alleviate this with medications prescribed by your doctor.
When will I see the results of my Vaser liposuction procedure?
Most men notice a subtle improvement in their body contour immediately after surgery. However, you will need to allow time for post-operative swelling to subside and the skin to retract and tighten before your final results become visible. Your Vaser liposuction results will gradually improve over time, with your final results appearing at around six months.
Are the results of my liposuction procedure permanent?
Once your doctor has removed the fat cells from your body, they are permanently gone. However, you can still gain weight after male liposuction, as the remaining fat cells can grow in size. In order to maintain results in the long term, we recommend that our patients make healthy lifestyle changes following surgery, such as exercising more regularly and enjoying a more balanced diet.
How long does the procedure take to perform?
Your male liposuction procedure can take anywhere from one to four hours to complete, depending on the number of areas treated and the amount of fat removed.
How many liposuction procedures will I need?
At Cosmos Clinic, our doctors always endeavour to achieve the best fat reduction results in a single liposuction procedure. However, men who wish to remove large amounts of fat may need a second procedure to achieve their desired results. Your doctor will give his suggestions on whether you may need a second procedure during your consultation.
How much fat can you remove from my body?
Depending on your distribution of fat and your desired surgical outcome, your doctor will remove between three and five litres of fat. Removing any more than this can put your safety and comfort at risk. In fact, one study found that removing more than five litres of fat can increase complication rates by 3.7 percent. As such, men who wish to remove more than five litres of fat will need to undergo a second liposuction procedure.
How noticeable are liposuction scars?
Liposuction for men, as with any invasive procedure, will leave behind a scar. Despite this, significant scarring following male liposuction is rare, as the incisions required to insert the Vaser probes are only small and will be placed in inconspicuous locations. Plus, with proper scar management techniques, you can expect your scars to fade entirely eventually.
What are the risks and side effects associated with male liposuction?
Every invasive procedure comes with risk. However, Vaser liposuction for men is typically regarded as less risky than traditional liposuction, and our doctors have performed thousands of procedures without incident. Some potential side effects to be aware of include:
Pain and aching
Bruising and bleeding
Fluid accumulation under the skin
Loose skin that doesn’t adjust to your new contour
