Vaser Hi Def Liposuction, also known as hi-definition liposuction, hi-definition liposculpture, or hi-def lipo, is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that involves targeting fat tissue in specific parts of the body.

How your Vaser HD liposuction will be performed

Conscious sedation– the procedure will only require twilight sedation with the use of medication to minimise discomfort to perform, although, patients can choose general anaesthesia if preferred.
Saline solution– after making small incisions, a saline solution will be injected to loosen the unwanted fat cells as well as create a numbing effect in the treatment area.
Ultrasound technology– to break down fat cells, a small probe will be used to transmit ultrasound energy. This allows the fat to be removed.
Gentle liposuction – a small cannula will superficially and deeply remove the desired adipose tissue.

What to expect after the procedure

After treatment, it’s normal for patients to experience some minor swelling and bruising. Your doctor will prescribe medication to control pain and discomfort after the procedure. The use of compression garments can help with healing. Drainage tubes may be inserted into the treatment areas to collect fluids for the first three to five days after treatment.

Most patients are able to return to work and other regular activities after one week. Strenuous exercise and other activities are not recommended and best avoided for two to three weeks after treatment, and we recommend checking with your doctor that you are ready to resume weight training before you do so.

Swelling will continue to decrease, and skin will continue to retract up to six months after surgery. Therefore, it can take up to four to six months to notice your final results from the procedure. Some patients may need an additional procedure to further enhance their results after six months. Scars will usually heal and become less noticeable over time; however, they may not disappear completely.

During your recovery, you will need to take care of your surgical sites, remember to attend any follow-up appointments, and optimise your health. Following a healthy diet, staying hydrated and making sure that you are getting enough rest will support your recovery.
