THE RESULTS
If you’re bothered by the dreaded double chin or “turkey neck,” you’ll be pleased to know that surgery may not be your only option. The Neck Lift with Liposuction is a minimally-invasive procedure that has helped countless women and men tighten skin and remove unwanted fat under the chin and jawline.
The treatment involves using VASER liposuction and a small ultrasound-emitting probe to liquefy fat cells and achieve collagen contraction. The fat is then removed with liposuction for slimmer neck and chin contours. Many satisfied patients find that their skin retraction is so impressive following VASER liposuction that a surgical neck lift is not required.
The biggest advantage of the Neck Lift with Liposuction is that it’s relatively quick (around 60 minutes) and can be performed without general anaesthesia. For patients this means fewer risks of complications and much less downtime than traditional liposuction or surgery. Therefore if you’d like to improve the appearance of excess fat and skin around your neck then you should consider this minimally-invasive procedure as an option.
The best candidates are those who are in good physical health and are struggling with stubborn fat and mild skin laxity under the chin and jawline. Patients who are older or have considerable skin sagging and volume loss may require a face lift or neck lift surgery. The best way to know if you’re a good candidate is to schedule a consultation.
Since patients are not placed under general anaesthesia, only oral medication and local anaesthetic will be given to help with relaxation and to control any pain and discomfort. Treatment involves making a small incision under the chin and using an ultrasound probe to break down the fat cells and tighten the surrounding tissue. The liquefied fat cells will then be removed using power assisted liposuction.
You’ll be required to wear a compression garment immediately after surgery to minimise swelling, promote blood circulation, as well as to assist with the healing process. It’s normal to experience some swelling but the downtime is minimal and patients can typically return to work or regular activities after a few days (rigorous exercise should be avoided for a few weeks).
Weight gain is not the only reason for having excess fat deposits under the neck. If you’re a young person it can be due to genetics (you can inherit a bulky or “turkey neck” from your parents). If you’ve developed the condition later in life it can be attributed to changes in your facial anatomy thanks to the effects of gravity and the aging process. Regardless of the reason, you may see great results with this procedure.
Yes, VASER neck liposuction can still work for you even if you’ve lost a lot of weight. It all depends on how much loose skin you have. Even though the neck skin has been stretched with weight gain, it’s still possible to achieve a good level of skin contracture with VASER neck liposuction.
Yes it’s normal to experience some swelling after neck liposuction for up to two weeks. Bruising is also possible but doesn’t happen to everybody. Some patient experience no bruising at all while others have significant bruising in the treatment areas. Most swelling and bruising should be resolved 6-8 weeks after the procedure.
