Round, chubby cheeks can be a hereditary trait, occurring even in slim and athletic individuals. It results from having excess fat in this area (called buccal fat), and it can give the illusion of fullness or a “baby face.” The lack of definition and contour in the face can greatly affect a person’s self-confidence.

THE PROCEDURE
Buccal fat is located deep on both sides of the face between the buccinator muscle and several other superficial muscles. Using Vaser liposuction the buccal fat is removed in order to thin out the inner cheeks, resulting in a slimmer, more symmetrical and chiseled profile.
Why choose chubby cheeks (buccal fat) treatment, Gold Coast?
If the size of your cheeks is out of proportion with the rest of your face, having buccal fat liposuction can give you a more harmonious appearance. The treatment can be performed in as in little as 30 minutes and the results are permanent. Keep in mind that for optimum results you should keep your weight steady as any weight gain or loss can affect the final outcome.
Who is the best candidate for chubby cheeks (buccal fat) treatment?
You’re a good candidate if meet the following criteria:
How is the treatment performed?
Vaser liposuction involves making tiny incisions (usually under the earlobes) then injecting a tumescent solution which contains a local anaesthetic. This is followed by inserting a thin ultrasound-emitting probe to liquefy fat cells in the cheeks first before they are permanently suctioned away. Ultrasound energy has an added benefit of tightening the skin by stimulating the contraction of collagen fibers and production of firmer, healthier skin.
What to expect after the procedure
It’s normal to experience some swelling, bruising, soreness and burning sensations immediately after treatment. These symptoms are only temporary and should gradually subside over the next couple of weeks. Most people can resume their normal activities in 2-3 days: however, a full recovery and final results from cheek liposuction may require up to a month.
How much does the procedure cost?
Who is not a good candidate for the procedure?
If you are very thin and don’t have very much fat in your cheeks then buccal fat removal is not a good option for you. Also, if you think that your face will change significantly after treatment you may be disappointed. Although buccal fat liposuction can give you slimmer contours, it won’t change your appearance in a significant way.
What are the possible complications of buccal fat liposuction?
Buccal fat Vaser liposuction is a very safe procedure with a low rate of complications; however, as with any medical procedure it possible to have side-effects. These include: infection, bleeding, poor healing or injury to facial nerves. Patients are advised to choose a qualified and experienced board certified cosmetic surgeon. Additionally, as long as all post-operative instructions are followed carefully, most people have a speedy and successful recovery.
Can I have other procedures alongside buccal fat removal?
Buccal fat removal is often performed with other treatments – both surgical and non-surgical. A complementary treatment is muscle relaxing injections to the masseters which can help achieve a slimmer jawline. It can also be done at the same time as a facelift, blepharoplasty, neck lift or chin augmentation.
