Non-melanoma and Melanoma

Non-melanoma skin cancers are Australia’s most common skin cancer affecting more than 700,000 individuals annually. Non-melanoma skin cancers include basal cell carcinomas (BCC) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCC).

Melanoma is Australia’s third most common skin cancer, only being surpassed by breast and prostate cancer. It is the most common cancer among 15-39-year-olds.

Factors that are known to increase the risk for skin cancer include:

Previous history of skin cancer
Fair skin type that burns easily
Significant number of moles or at least a few “funny” (dysplastic) looking moles
Previous skin cancer in a first-degree relative
Previous significant sunburn or regular sun exposure
Previous solarium (tanning bed) use
Increasing age
Immunosuppression (from medications or transplant recipients)

Cosmos Aesthetics has a highly trained and qualified team to assist with your skin cancer check and management journey. We can also help with minor cutaneous lumps, including lipomas and benign cysts. Our in-built accredited day surgery facility will allow privately insured patients to have their potential surgery significantly subsidised by their private health insurance. We also welcome uninsured patients, and their possible out-of-pocket surgical fees will be discussed before the day of surgery.
