Surgical Nose Reshaping

The Basics

Rhinoplasty, more commonly known as a “nose job”, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can correct the size, shape, width and/or profile of the nose. During this rhinoplasty surgery, an experienced facial plastic surgeon can create the nose you desire using advanced medical techniques that have minimal down-time and little scarring.

The Procedure

1 – 2 hour procedure performed under general anaesthetic, in hospital. Risks are typical of any surgical procedure.

Patients usually return to work within 7-10 days, with bruising and swelling persisting for several weeks.

Other Facts

Many patients with minor or less severe irregularities of the nose can achieve a more desirable nose appearance using Dermal Filler injections, thus avoiding the need to undergo invasive surgery.

Top Surgical Nose Reshaping Questions

What is Surgical Nose Reshaping or Rhinoplasty?

A Nose Job, also known as Nose Reshaping or Rhinoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure performed to change the shape, size, width or profile of the nose.

What are common reasons for undertaking Rhinoplasty?

Some of the reasons for considering nose surgery include improvements to:

  • Nose size, in relation to other facial structures
  • Nose width, at the bridge
  • Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
  • Nasal tip, that is large or bulbous, drooping or too upturned
  • Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
  • Nasal asymmetry and deviation

When is it more appropriate to undergo a non-surgical nose job than a surgical approach?

Many patients with minor or less severe irregularities of the nose can achieve a more desirable nose appearance using Dermal Filler injections, thus avoiding the need to undergo invasive surgery. A Non-Surgical Nose Job avoids the risks of surgery and has no effect on nasal breathing (as to create breathing problems) as it only involves the injection of a Dermal Filler into the skin. The procedure is very precise and detailed adjustments to the nasal contouring can be achieved.

The Procedure. What does it involve?

The surgery is performed under general anaesthetic. The actual details of your surgery will vary depending on your desired result and can be discussed with your surgeon.

What can I expect after Nose Reshaping surgery?

Temporary discomfort, swelling (black eyes), bruising. Pain medication will be prescribed to assist with comfort.

Results. What and when can I expect them?

The majority of swelling will subside over the first few weeks, however, some swelling can take months to settle, with final results apparent up to a year post surgery.

Are there any risks of complications?

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks of complications. Your surgeon will discuss with you the general and specific risks associated with Surgical Nose Reshaping.

At which clinic can I undertake the procedure?

Dr. Choy operates out of Sydney & Coffs Harbour, please contact Cosmos Clinic for more details.
