THE RESULTS
A thread lift is a procedure that aims to enhance facial appearance by repositioning skin tissues. This involves inserting temporary, medical-grade threads into the subcutaneous layer of the face. The barbed threads will gently be pulled and affixed to tighten and lift the skin.
The initial effect of a thread lift is a temporary support to the skin, which may appear more taut. Over time, as the threads dissolve, any immediate changes may diminish. However, the procedure might support collagen production, potentially affecting skin appearance.
The barbed threads fight signs of ageing by encouraging the body’s natural healing response, to produce more collagen, one of the key proteins that keep our skin at its youthful best. The threads won’t injure the skin, but the body will detect the sutures and respond by stimulating collagen production in the treated area.
By the time we are in our seventies, we will have lost about 80% of our skin thickness. This is because we produce less and less collagen in our bodies as we age. With less collagen, our skin weakens and struggles to support the underlying tissues, allowing gravity to stretch and pull the skin downwards, creating the appearance of sagging skin.
If we prompt our bodies to supply our skin with more collagen while our signs of aging are still quite early, we can prevent skin laxity from worsening with time. A thread lift procedure will provide ongoing rejuvenation of facial tissues, even once the threads have dissolved, as collagen production will be stimulated. This means that patients can see a gradual and effective improvement in the tone and firmness of their skin.
Thread lifts, known for their minimally invasive approach, are an option for those seeking aesthetic facial enhancements. While they offer a different approach to traditional facelifts, results vary and depend on individual factors, the walk-in, walk-out procedure can revitalise your skin and keep you looking young and glowing, with little downtime and at much more affordable costs.
Despite the simplicity of the non-surgical procedure, a thread lift needs to be performed by a trained doctors, equipped with both extensive experience and deep knowledge of muscle and tissue composition. For optimal results, it is important to choose a suitable clinic that is fit with knowledgeable and experienced doctors, who know how to perform the procedure without posing a high risk of skin irritation or incorrect thread placement.

Thread lifts can improve your complexion by reversing signs of aging such as skin laxity and wrinkles. Additionally, thread lift procedures are linked with more benefits, including:
With a thread lift procedure at Cosmos Aesthetics, you can tighten and lift various areas of the face, such as:
The first step is to book a thorough consultation with our friendly team at Cosmos Aesthetics, to make sure that a thread lift procedure is right for you. During your consultation, a practitioner from our team will assess your facial contour and decide on the amount of facial threads that you may need to achieve your desired results.
On your treatment day, your face will be gently cleansed, and a local anaesthetic will be supplied to the area that is being treated. With a very fine needle or cannula, the dissolvable facial threads will be threaded into the subdermal level of the facial tissues, underneath the visible layer of the skin. Once these threads are placed, they will be pulled to tighten and lift the skin. The ends of the threads will be trimmed so that the anchored threading will not be noticeable. You might feel some pressure as the threads are pulled, but the local anaesthetic should ensure a painless procedure.
As a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure, recovery is simple and relatively short-term, especially when compared to traditional methods such as surgical facelifts. You may experience swelling, redness, or tenderness on your face, however, this can be expected and should subside within just a few days. You will be able to return to your usual daily activities straight after treatment. Your practitioner at Cosmos Aesthetics will provide you with details on how to care for your skin after your treatment to ensure an optimal recovery. Some recovery tips may include:
Following your recovery instructions provided to you by one of our knowledgeable practitioners is important, as it can reduce the chance of any side effects occurring, such as skin irritation, and can help to ensure that you receive the best results possible.
As the anchoring threads tighten the skin during the procedure, results are instant, however, results will continue to become more and more noticeable with time. This is because the face begins to heal, swelling and bruising will reduce, and collagen production begins to increase. Optimal results are typically noticeable at around three months post-treatment.
Even though results are long-lasting, particularly when compared to other non-surgical skin tightening procedures, they are not necessarily considered to be permanent. Within about one year, the threads will be absorbed by the skin’s underlying tissue. However, the increase in collagen production means that the overall tightened and youthful effect of the treatment should last for as long as three years.
Cosmos Aesthetics understands that every patient is different, and therefore, every thread lift treatment will involve different specific details such as procedure time, number of threads used, and area being treated. During your consultation, one of our cosmetic practitioners will determine the costs of your individual non-surgical thread lift treatment.
As a guide, our thread lift treatments typically start from $1,000 per treatment area.
Your initial consultation costs are redeemable upon treatment and are usually between $120 and $330.

Since thread lifts are minimally invasive and non-surgical, they are associated with relatively low risks and complications. However, like with any medical treatment, you might experience some temporary discomfort during recovery, such as swelling, bruising and numbness, but these symptoms will usually subside in just a few days. Numbness may last for a few weeks while the skin is healing, but you should begin to regain sensation within this time frame. Some patients might develop a skin infection in the treated area which will need to be treated with antibiotics. This will be avoided with thorough preparation and recovery guidelines as provided to you by one of our practitioners during your initial consultation.
Rarely, the barbed threads can become visible underneath the skin, particularly in patients with quite thin skin, but this can usually be avoided by choosing a clinic that is fit with an experienced team of practitioners. Very rarely, threads can move out of place from their original placement, causing skin dimpling and an unbalanced facial appearance, however this complication can be addressed by a revision treatment in which new threads can be inserted.
Thread lift treatments are suitable for those who are starting to see some signs of aging, such as skin laxity and wrinkles, and wish to prevent them from becoming more noticeable over time. Good candidates are typically those who want to lift and tighten loose skin on the face and are usually between their mid-thirties to early fifties.
The purpose of a thread lift is to create natural-looking and subtle results and is therefore best suited to patients who would like to treat mild to moderate sagging skin. If your skin laxity is more severe, you might prefer to undergo a surgical facelift to achieve the best results for you, but if you would prefer not to opt for a surgical procedure you may still choose to receive a threaded facelift to produce more subtle results. Despite your age or the current condition of your skin, booking a consultation at Cosmos Aesthetics is the best way to ensure that a thread lift treatment is a suitable choice for you.
You will receive thorough preparation instructions and tips during your initial consultation. These instructions might include to stop taking any blood thinning medications for at least one week before treatment, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements such as fish oil, omega-3 or vitamin E. You should also stop smoking and avoid alcohol for about one week, as this can dehydrate the skin and increase the risk of reacting to anaesthesia.
Choosing the right treatment for you will depend on what your desired results are and the condition that your skin is currently in. Both procedures are designed to tighten sagging skin and reverse signs of aging, but each procedure varies greatly in methods, and some patients are better candidates for one option over the other. During your consultation, one of our team’s experienced practitioners will examine your facial characteristics and determine which procedure would be best for you.
A thread lift is less invasive than a surgical facelift, as it is a walk-in, walk-out procedure that provides subtle and natural-looking results with minimal downtime by tightening the skin with facial threads. Results can last for up to three years and can provide a less permanent example of how a surgical facelift might look in the future, should you choose to undergo a surgical facelift later down the track. Thread face lifts are associated with fewer risks and complications, require no downtime, and are much more affordable than surgical facelifts, with treatments at Cosmos Aesthetics starting from $1,750.
Alternatively, a surgical facelift involves removing excess sagging skin caused by skin laxity and may also involve the removal or reposition of excess fat. The facial muscles can additionally be surgically tightened during a surgical facelift. This procedure can create a much younger appearance as it will provide far more dramatic results that can last for about ten years. However, since it is much more invasive than facial threading, it needs to be performed under general anaesthesia and is associated with far more risks. Surgical facelifts require a longer recovery time of about six weeks, and can be much more costly, potentially adding up to $20,000 when including additional hospital fees.
Both options come with advantages and disadvantages, and either one or the other can be much more suitable for you.
