Achieve a firmer, flatter stomach contour with Vaser Liposuction. This body sculpting procedure is designed to remove the unwanted muffin top from the lower stomach, as well as stubborn fat deposits in the upper abdomen. Vaser liposuction is minimally invasive so that you can get back to life in a matter of days.
We offer stomach liposuction at all of our Cosmos Clinics (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Canberra). Following your Vaser liposuction procedure, you can expect a smoother, more contoured abdomen. You can expect your stomach fat to be more evenly distributed, plus our Vaser technology also works to tighten the skin.
If you aren’t yet ready for surgery, you can achieve more subtle results with a non-surgical liposuction alternative known as CoolSculpting.
Melt fat cells and tighten the skin for smooth, natural-looking results
At Cosmos Clinic, we use Vaser technology in all of our liposuction procedures. Vaser (“Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance”) is an advanced form of liposuction that uses sound waves to break apart fat cells before removing them from the body.
This is far more gentle than other liposuction techniques. Traditionally, liposuction was far less refined, and the process could be likened to trying to suck out a brick of fat through a straw. This meant increased pain and longer recovery times. With Vaser, ultrasound heat works to separate fat cells from the fibrous tissue, transforming it to a more butter-like consistency. This makes the fat much easier to remove. Additionally, the ultrasound energy delivered by the Vaser machine offers skin tightening benefits, which reduces the amount of skin sagging after surgery.
Stomach liposuction is performed under twilight sedation and local anaesthesia, although a general anaesthetic is available on request. Once you are numb, your Cosmos Clinic doctor will make a small incision in the belly button or near the bikini line to insert the Vaser probe. This is moved back and forth to heat and liquefy your fat cells, and, as the tissue is broken apart, a cannula is used to vacuum the fat out of your body.
At Cosmos Clinic, liposuction is the core of our practice. We were the first practice in Sydney to use Vaser technology, and we now own more Vaser systems than anywhere else in the world.
You can undertake both your stomach liposuction consultation and procedure at any of our cosmetic clinics across Australia. We are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Canberra.
We also treat numerous interstate and overseas patients each year. As such, we have set procedures in place for those wishing to travel to us for surgery. If this interests you, please send us images of your stomach and let us know which clinic you’d like to visit and where you are located so that our staff can provide you with all of the appropriate information in your personalised quote.
Your Stomach Liposuction Recovery
Stomach liposuction with Vaser technology is considered minimally invasive, so patients can return home on the same day. Some mild pain is to be expected, however, your doctor will prescribe medications to alleviate this. You may also experience some fluid leakage for 3-5 days after surgery. However, overall recovery is relatively easy, and most patients are fine to go back to work after one week.
To speed healing, minimise swelling and help the skin retract, you will need to wear a compression garment for three weeks full time and three weeks part-time. We also advise that our patients come into the clinic for regular follow up lymphatic massages, usually twice a week for two weeks.
To optimise your recovery, become familiar with the do’s of liposuction recovery before your procedure:
Do wear your liposuction compression garments
Do maintain a healthy diet
Do listen to your body
Do take care of your surgical sites
Do attend post-surgical checkups
Benefits of Vaser Liposuction
Melt Unwanted Fat: Using ultrasound energy, our Vaser technique works to melt your stomach fat before removing it from the body. This makes the removal of fat much easier, helping you achieve smoother results.
A Gentler Alternative to Traditional Liposuction: Since fat is liquefied before removal, Vaser is regarded as a gentler alternative to traditional liposuction. Following surgery, you can expect reduced pain, less bruising and quicker recovery times.
Tighten Lax Skin: Not only does Vaser remove fat, but the generated heat also contracts collagen fibres to tighten the skin. As a result, you can expect less skin sagging after surgery than with traditional liposuction.
Define your Abdomen with Vaser Hi Def
Do you dream of a more sculpted, muscular physique? Take your Vaser liposuction procedure a step further with Vaser Hi Definition. In addition to removing stubborn fat deposits, your doctor will treat the superficial layer that sits above the abdominal muscles to enhance their visibility, producing a refined and athletic appearance. Vaser Hi Definition is suitable for patients with thick skin, good skin tone, and can feel the abdominal muscles underneath the skin when contracting. You can learn more about Vaser Hi Def here.
How much does stomach liposuction cost?
If you are considering stomach liposuction, you will likely want to know how much the procedure will cost. Despite that, Vaser does not fit a one price fits all strategy, meaning that cost will vary from patient to patient. The cost of your stomach liposuction procedure will depend on factors such as:
The body type of the patient
The amount of fat removed
The type of anaesthetic used
The amount of time spent in surgery
At Cosmos Clinic, our stomach liposuction procedures start at $4,400. If you are interested in treating more than one body area, this may reduce your overall costs and recovery times. We charge $1,750 on top of the base price for each additional area treated. To receive a more accurate quote, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our doctors.
Am I a suitable candidate for stomach liposuction?
You may be a potential candidate for stomach liposuction if you fit the following criteria:
You struggle with excess deposits of fat in the upper and lower abdomen
You are in good physical and mental health
You have realistic expectations regarding what stomach liposuction can achieve
You are prepared to follow healthy diet and exercise habits after surgery
You have good skin elasticity
You do not smoke or are prepared to quit before and after surgery
The above criteria is just a guide: the best way to determine whether you are a suitable stomach liposuction candidate is to meet with our Cosmos Clinic doctor for a consultation.
What can I do to prepare for surgery?
Your doctor will give you specific pre-operative instructions during your consultation. To avoid surgical complications, you must quit smoking at least two weeks before surgery, and you may also be asked to avoid certain medications and supplements. To prepare for recovery, we recommend purchasing some comfortable clothes, filling any required prescriptions and preparing some healthy meals. You will also need to arrange for someone to pick you up from the hospital and help with tasks at home for the first few days after surgery.
Is the stomach liposuction procedure painful?
Since your stomach liposuction procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, you will not feel any pain. Any discomfort experienced after surgery can be relieved with medications prescribed by your doctor.
How long does it take to see results?
You may notice a subtle improvement in your stomach contour immediately after surgery. Before your final results become visible, you will need to allow time for post-operative swelling to subside and the skin to retract and tighten. You can expect your results to improve gradually over time, with your final results appearing at around six months.
Are stomach liposuction results permanent?
Once fat cells have been removed from the stomach, they will never return. However, it is still possible to gain weight after stomach liposuction, as your remaining fat cells can grow in size. To maintain your results in the long term, we highly suggest making lifestyle changes after surgery, such as exercising more regularly and enjoying a healthier diet.
How long does stomach liposuction take?
Liposuction to the stomach usually takes between one and four hours to complete, depending on the amount of fat removed and whether you are treating other areas at the same time.
Will I need more than one procedure?
Our Cosmos Clinic doctor always aim to achieve the best fat reduction results in a single procedure. However, if you wish to remove large amounts of fat, you may need to have a second procedure to achieve your desired results. Your doctor will let you know whether you may need a second procedure during your consultation.
Can I treat other body areas at the same time as my stomach?
Yes, you absolutely can treat other body areas during your stomach liposuction procedure. Other common treatment areas include the hips, flanks, back, thighs and arms.
How much fat will be removed from my stomach?
Depending on the amount of stomach fat and your desired outcome, your doctor will remove between three and five litres of fat during your Vaser liposuction procedure. Removing any more than this can have negative impacts on your safety and comfort. In fact, one study concluded that removing more than five litres of fat can increase complications rates by 3.7 percent. If you would like to remove more than five litres of fat from your stomach, you will need to undergo a second liposuction procedure.
Will I have scars after stomach liposuction?
Scarring is an inevitable part of any surgical procedure. However, it is rare to have significant scarring after a liposuction procedure. This is because the incisions required to insert the Vaser probes are only small and will be placed in locations that can be hidden easily, such as in the belly button and along the bikini line. Plus, with proper scar management techniques, you can expect any noticeable scars to fade over time.
What are the risks and side effects associated with stomach liposuction?
All invasive surgeries come with risk. This being said, Vaser liposuction is usually considered less risky than traditional liposuction, and we’ve performed thousands of stomach liposuction procedures without incident. Some potential side effects to be aware of include:
Pain and aching
Bruising and bleeding
Asymmetry or skin irregularities
Loose skin that doesn’t adjust to your new stomach contour
