Remove unwanted fat cells from the love handles and give your waist a slimmer appearance with Vaser liposuction. This body contouring procedure is minimally invasive, so you can get back to life in as little as a week.
We offer liposuction to the love handles at each of our Cosmos Clinics across Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Canberra). Following your Vaser liposuction procedure, you can expect a smoother, slimmer waistline, as your fat will be more evenly distributed. Plus, our Vaser technology is also designed to tighten skin, so you don’t need to worry about having loose skin after the procedure.
For patients who aren’t quite ready for surgery, we offer a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, CoolSculpting, that produces more subtle results.
Melt fat cells and tighten the skin for a smooth, natural-looking results
At Cosmos Clinic, all of our liposuction procedures are performed using Vaser technology. Vaser (“Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance”) is a more advanced form of liposuction that uses ultrasound energy to break apart fat cells before they are removed from the body. This results in a far more gentle approach to liposuction.
Traditional liposuction techniques are far less refined, with the process being comparable to trying to suck a brick of fat out through a straw. As a result, patients could expect more pain and longer recovery times. Vaser, on the other hand, uses ultrasonic waves to separate fat cells from the fibrous tissue, turning it to a more butter-like consistency and making it easier to remove. Furthermore, the ultrasound heat delivered by the Vaser machine also works to tighten the skin, reducing the amount of skin sagging after surgery.
Liposuction to the love handles is performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, although a general anaesthetic is available on request. Once numb, your Cosmos Clinic doctor will make small incisions in the underwear line to insert the Vaser probe. This probe is moved back and forth to heat and liquefy your fat cells, after which a cannula is used to remove the fat from the body.
Liposuction is the core of what we do here at Cosmos Clinic. In our ten years of operation, we have performed over 15,000 liposuction procedures across Australia. We were the first practice in New South Wales to use Vaser technology, and we now own more Vaser systems than anywhere else worldwide.
You can have both your love handles liposuction consultation and procedure at the clinic of your choosing. We are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Canberra.
If you are located elsewhere, we have set procedures in place for patients looking to travel to us for surgery. If you are interested in this option, please send us photos of your love handles and let us know which clinic you wish to visit and where you are located so that our staff can provide you with all the relevant information in your personalised quote.
As a minimally invasive procedure, most patients are free to return home on the same day as their love handles liposuction surgery. While some mild pain and discomfort are to be expected, your doctor will prescribe medications to relieve this. Also, keep in mind that you may experience some fluid seepage from your liposuction sites for 3-5 days after surgery. Ultimately, recovery is relatively easy, and you should be able to return to work after one week.
To reduce swelling, ease healing and help the skin retract, you will need to wear a compression garment for five to six weeks after surgery. We also recommend that our patients visit the clinic for regular follow up lymphatic massages, usually twice a week for two weeks.
To optimise your recovery, become familiar with the do’s of liposuction recovery before your procedure:
Do wear your liposuction compression garments
Do maintain a healthy diet
Do listen to your body
Do take care of your surgical sites
Do attend post-surgical checkups
How much does liposuction for love handles cost?
If you are considering liposuction to the love handles, you’ll likely want to know how much the procedure will cost you. However, Vaser does not fit a one price fits all strategy, and costs will vary from patient to patient. The cost of your love handles procedure will depend on factors such as:
The patient’s body type
The amount of fat removed
The amount of time spent in surgery
The type of anaesthetic used
At Cosmos Clinic, our liposuction procedures start from $4,400. If you are interested in combining your love handles with other areas of the body, this could reduce your overall costs and recovery times. We charge $1,750 on top of the base price for each additional area treated. To receive the most accurate quote, please get in touch to organise a consultation with one of our doctors.
Benefits of Vaser Liposuction
Melt Unwanted Fat: Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound energy to melt your love handles fat before it is removed from the body. This makes the fat removal process much easier, helping you achieve smoother results.
Gentler Then Traditional Liposuction: As the fat is liquefied before removal, Vaser is considered a gentler alternative to traditional liposuction. Following the procedure, you can expect less pain, reduced bruising and faster recovery times.
Tighten Lax Skin: In addition to removing fat, the heat generated by the Vaser probe also contracts collagen fibres to tighten the skin. As a result, you can expect less skin laxity after surgery than with traditional liposuction.
Am I a potential candidate for love handles liposuction?
If you fit the following criteria, you may be a suitable candidate for love handles liposuction:
You struggle with excess pockets of fat in the love handles
You have realistic expectations of what love handles liposuction can achieve
You are in good physical and mental health
You are prepared to follow healthy diet and exercise habits after the procedure
You have good skin elasticity
You do not smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery
Keep in mind that the above is just a guide. The best way to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for liposuction to the love handles is to meet with our Cosmos Clinic doctors for a consultation.
How do I prepare for liposuction surgery?
During your consultation, your doctor will provide you with specific pre-operative instructions. To prevent surgical complications, you must quit smoking at least two weeks before surgery and you may need to avoid certain medications and supplements. To prepare for recovery, we often advise that patients purchase some comfortable clothing, fill any needed prescriptions and prepare some healthy meals. You should also arrange for someone to pick you up from the hospital and help with tasks at home in the days after surgery.
Is love handles liposuction painful?
Your love handles liposuction procedure will be performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, so you should not experience any pain. While discomfort during recovery is more common, you can alleviate this with medications prescribed by your doctor.
When will I see the results of my liposuction procedure?
You may notice that your love handles look slimmer immediately after your liposuction procedure. However, you will need to allow time for post-operative swelling to subside and the skin to retract and tighten before your final results appear. Your final results will gradually become more visible over the six months following your procedure.
Are love handles liposuction results permanent?
Once your fat cells have been removed from your love handles, they will never return. However, your remaining fat cells can still grow in size, so it is possible to gain weight after liposuction surgery. If you hope to maintain your results for years to come, we strongly suggest that you make lifestyle changes after surgery, such as enjoying a healthier diet and exercising more regularly.
Can I treat other body areas at the same time as the love handles?
Yes, you definitely can address other areas of concern during your love handles liposuction procedure. Some other popular treatment areas include the abdomen, thighs, arms and thighs.
What are the risks and side effects associated with liposuction to the love handles?
Every invasive procedure comes with risk. However, Vaser liposuction is typically considered less risky than traditional liposuction, and we’ve performed thousands of liposuction procedures without incident. Some of the potential side effects to be aware of include:
Pain and aching
Bruising and swelling
Loose skin that doesn’t adjust to your new waist contour
