Cellulite

Cellulite is a stubborn skin condition characterised by lumpy, dimpled skin. This is caused when the very superficial layers of body fat press up against the lower layers of skin.

Bio Stimulating

Bio Stimulating Injections may be suitable for those with any degree of dimpling causes by cellulite.

Fat Injections

Injecting your own fat into the cellulite dimples can help fill the dimples and improve the appearance of cellulite. Fat also contains stem cells which help improve the thickness of cellulite affected skin.

Harvest Platelet Rich Plasma

Harvest Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) may be suitable if you have loose skin and/or desire a non-invasive option with skin tightening. This treatment, targets this problem area beneath the skin surface.

VaserSmooth

VaserSmooth is another treatment option that involves the use of a new and specialised probe that melts away the superficial fat that causes Cellulite. This option may be suitable if you have thick skin, noticeable fat deposits and cellulite.

Other Facts

  • Cellulite is difficult to treat. With the appropriate treatment, most clients experience a 20 – 50% improvement.
  • Cellulite is not a “fat” problem, but rather a skin structure problem occurring far below the surface of the skin.

Top Cellulite Questions

What causes cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by the very superficial layers of fat pressing up against the lower layers of skin. These enlarged fat cells push against the skin and compress the bodies circulatory system – causing the dreaded “orange peel” dimpled appearance.

In many cases, cellulite occurs in people who are overweight or have genetically inherited this trait.  Other factors include: ageing, hormones and gender differences in skin structure. While being overweight certainly exacerbates the appearance of cellulite, cellulite is ultimately a condition of the skin.

Cellulite most commonly occurs in the outer thighs and buttocks however, it can sometimes be found in other regions around the body (such as the upper arm).

What is the VaserSmooth Treatment for Cellulite?

The VaserSmooth treatment involves the use of a new and specialised probe that melts away the superficial fat that causes Cellulite. This specialised Vaser promotes strength and structure within the skin, helping to prevent other fat cells from pushing through and causing that “dimpling effect”.

How does Harvest PRP work for Cellulite?

Cellulite is not a “fat” problem, but rather a skin structure problem occurring far below the surface of the skin. The Harvest PRP treatment, targets this problem area beneath the skin surface. It delivers highly concentrated platelets to the affected area, which stimulate collagen, thicken skin and increase elasticity. The result is a long lasting reduction in Cellulite.

Most clients experience only minimal discomfort when the PRP injection is given. There is a slight sting when fluid  is injected (similar to a flu shot). Patients’ experiences may vary.

For more information on how Harvest PRP works, read our Harvest PRP Treatment page.

How is Harvest PRP different from other Cellulite Treatments?

The Harvest PRP Treatment is a high tech procedure that can offer long-term reductions to stubborn body areas of cellulite. Harvest PRP works by targeting the structures that actually cause cellulite.

Over the counter cellulite creams, pills and caffeine lotions only target the surface of the skin and don’t penetrate far enough to cause important structural changes to the skin’s layers. Additionally, endermologie, lymphatic drainage massages or dry-brushing might help, however the improvements won’t be great enough to significantly change the appearance of Cellulite.

Is Harvest PRP the best option for me?

Harvest PRP is suitable for anyone with cellulite. It is a minimally invasive procedure (injections using your own blood) that can offer noticeable and long-lasting results in cellulite removal and reduction. Many non-invasive treatments only remove water from inside and around the fat cells making the cellulite look temporarily better. They don’t address the core problem of fibrous bands, or the look and strength of the skin.

What are the benefits of Harvest PRP treatments?

The Harvest PRP Treatment, offers patients long lasting results in the battle against Cellulite.

Benefits include:

  • Few injections
  • Improvement in Cellulite reduction
  • No downtime
  • Long lasting results

How many Harvest PRP treatments will I need?

At Cosmos Clinic, we have found that 3 treatments, spaced 1 month apart give the best results.

Are there any risks/complications with Harvest PRP?

As this procedure uses your own blood, there are no possible reactions to the treatment. It is minimally invasive procedure with no downtime, so you can go straight back to work after your treatment. Some minor complications that may occur could include bruising, and slight swelling. It is important to note that each patient’s experience may vary.

At which clinic can I undertake the procedure?

Your initial Cellulite Reduction consultation and subsequent procedure can be undertaken at one of our cosmetic clinics in Australia – be it Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide or the Gold Coast.

We also treat many interstate and overseas patients each year at Cosmos Clinic.  Therefore, we have set procedures in place for those travelling to our clinics for treatment.

For travelling patients please use the contact form located at the bottom of this page to send us images of the areas you wish to have treated, which Cosmos Clinic you’d like treatment at, and where you’re located in the description so our staff can include all the appropriate information for travelling patients as part of your personalised quote.
