What causes Cellulite?
In many cases, cellulite occurs in people who are overweight or have genetically inherited this trait. Other factors include; ageing, hormones and gender differences in skin structure. Cellulite most commonly occurs in the thighs and buttocks however, it can sometimes be found in other regions around the body.
Cellulite is caused by the very superficial layers of fat pressing up against the lower layers of skin. These enlarged fat cells push against the skin and compress the bodies circulatory system causing the dreaded “orange peel” dimpled appearance. Here at Cosmos Clinic, we offer 2 effective Cellulite treatment options:
- Harvest Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP): A minimally invasive treatment option, where platelets are extracted from your own blood and then re-injected into the affected areas. Platelets work to strengthen the skin preventing the dimpling effect of Cellulite.
- VaserSmooth Treatment: A minimally invasive and long lasting procedure clinically proven to improve Cellulite up to 50% (*Results may vary from patient to patient)

What is the VaserSmooth Treatment for Cellulite?
The VaserSmooth treatment involves the use of a new and specialised probe to melt away the superficial fat that causes Cellulite. This specialised Vaser promotes strength and structure within the skin helping prevent other fat cells from pushing through and causing that “dimpling effect”.
To see how this procedure is undertaken, watch the video below. (Please note that this video shows Laser technology, we now use Vaser technology.)
How does Harvest PRP work for Cellulite?
Cellulite is not a “fat” problem, rather a skin structure problem, far below the surface of the skin. The Harvest PRP treatment, targets this problem area beneath the skin surface. It delivers highly concentrated platelets to the affected area, which stimulate collagen, thicken skin and increase elasticity. The result is a long lasting reduction in Cellulite (*Results may vary from patient to patient).
For more information on how Harvest PRP works, read our Harvest PRP Treatment page.
Will the Harvest PRP Treatment be painful?
Most clients experience only minimal discomfort when the PRP injection is given. There is a slight sting when fluid is injected, similar to a flu shot. Patient experiences may vary.
* Results may vary from patient to patient
How is Harvest PRP different from other Cellulite Treatments?
The Harvest PRP Treatment is a high tech procedure that can offer long-term reductions to stubborn areas of cellulite. Harvest PRP works by targeting the structures that actually cause cellulite. Over the counter creams, pills and lotions only target the surface of the skin and don’t penetrate far enough to cause important structural changes to the skins layers required to improve the appearance of Cellulite.
Features of the Harvest PRP Treatment
The new Harvest PRP Treatment, offers patients long lasting results in the battle against Cellulite. Features include:
- Few Injections
- Improvement in Cellulite reduction
- No Downtime
- Long lasting results
Is Harvest PRP the best option for me?
Harvest PRP is suitable for anyone with cellulite. It is a minimally invasive procedure (Injections using your own blood) that can offer noticeable and long-lasting results in cellulite reduction. Many non-invasive treatments only remove water from inside and around the fat cells making the cellulite look temporarily better. They don’t address the core problem of fibrous bands, or the look and strength of the skin.
How many treatments will I need?
At Cosmos Clinic, we have found that 3 treatments, spaced 1 month apart give the optimal results. Results may vary from patient to patient
Cellulite Treatment Costs and Prices
Cellulite Treatment costs and prices vary widely depending on your overall situation and expectations. The initial consultation is $120. The Harvest PRP treatment starts from $1,200.
Are there potential any complications I should be aware of?
As this procedure uses your own blood, there are no possible reactions to the treatment. It is minimally invasive procedure withno downtime, so you can go straight back to work after your treatment. Some minor complications that may occur could include bruising, and slight swelling, each patient’s experience may vary.

The examples, predictions, and results offered on this website vary from individual to individual. Results take time. They can be seen in as little as 6 weeks. This time may vary considerably depending on each individual. 6 weeks is a typical example. Results are effected by a number of factors, predominantly the way in which a patient follows instructions post surgery and the manner in which the patient behaves generally post surgery. Diet and exercise play an important part in the health and well being of a patient and in the maintenance of their body shape. Results will also vary purely based on the general make up of each patient and whether they have had surgery previously.
