Dermal fillers in Sydney: Top FAQs

Here, we share the top FAQs we receive regarding our Dermal Filler Sydney treatment.

What can dermal fillers help with?

Dermal Fillers are designed to enhance an individual’s facial features or to replace lost volume in the face and skin of the treatment area. The cosmetic injectables can be used to treat a variety of areas including:

  • Minimising the fine lines around the lips, chin, cheeks, corners of the mouth and forehead
  • Smoothing out smile lines
  • Filling in hollow areas under the eyes
  • Defining features such as the nose and jawline
  • Refreshing multiple areas for a non-invasive facelift
  • Improving acne scarring and general aging skincare

What do cosmetic injectables contain?

There are a variety of different Dermal Fillers and anti-wrinkle injections on the market that contain different ingredients. Cosmos Aesthetics, including Sydney, use hyaluronic acid Dermal Fillers that are formed from a natural complex sugar. Our cosmetic surgery team choose to use hyaluronic acid fillers because it’s a naturally produced substance that dissolves naturally in the body over time.

Hyaluronic acid Dermal Fillers, in our opinion, also achieve superior facial rejuvenation results as it helps to retain collagen and increase moisture which allows for a more natural, youthful appearance.

Are there any side effects?

As a natural component of the skin, generally speaking, hyaluronic acid is considered a safe form of cosmetic injections. It is also found in many skincare products including cleansers, serums, moisturisers and makeup, as well as digestible supplements.

However, as with any product, side effects from hyaluronic acid Dermal Fillers are possible, particularly if you have a pre-existing medical condition or if the injector is inexperienced. Bruising and swelling should be expected after the injectable treatment. More uncommon side effects could include pain, itching and rash around the injection site.

To prevent side effects, it’s important to attend an experienced and qualified cosmetic surgery clinic, disclose your medical history and follow the aftercare recommendations.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The results of Dermal Fillers can last between 6 – 24 months depending on the treated areas of the face. As a guide, cosmetic injectables in more active areas such as the lips or mouth, will breakdown quicker than those that don’t have as much movement such as the cheeks and temple.

Will I need an anaesthetic?

While less invasive than cosmetic surgery, individuals may experience some minor pain and discomfort during their treatment. To minimise this, the injector will apply a topical anaesthetic and/or an ice pack to numb the treated area prior to the Dermal filler Injections. A local anaesthetic is also incorporated into the dermal filler formula for added comfort.

How long does the dermal filler treatment take?

Depending on the individuals’ needs, most injectable treatments take between 30-60 minutes.

What is the cost of cosmetic injectables?

The cost of the Dermal Filler treatment will depend on the number of areas treated. As a guide, prices start from $350.00. Treatment options are available including discounts for additional mL. Patients interested in Dermal Fillers at our Sydney clinic will be required to attend an initial consult which is charged between $120 – $150.00. This fee is redeemable upon the treatment.
