Considering Tumescent Liposuction? Talk to the team at Cosmos Clinic for a caring and understanding approach…

Tumescent Liposuction is a surgical procedure to reduce pockets of fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise and is also used to improve the skin tone with laser assisted liposuction. Popular Tumescent Liposuction procedures include liquid liposuction and smart lipo.

Some of the reasons for considering Tumescent Liposuction may include:

  • Removing or minimising excess fat concentrated on problem areas of the body that do not respond to traditional diet and exercise such as the arms, hips, thighs, arms, buttocks and knees
  • Tightening skin on the neck, cheeks and chin area that has become loose and is sagging due to old age
  • Minimising love handles or excess fat deposits in the abdominal area which is resistant to exercise and diet
  • Promoting a better quality of life through a boosted self confidence, self esteem and an increased sense of wellbeing

What is Tumescent Liposuction?

Tumescent Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure where tumescent fluid (a solution of anaesthetics) is firstly injected into the areas to be treated which become swollen and firm. Tumescent Liposuction incisions are usually less than one-quarter inch in length and are made as inconspicuously as possible, often within skin folds or contour lines.

Tumescent Liposuction is performed by first inserting a small, hollow tube, called a cannula, through one or more tiny incisions near the area to be treated. The cannula is connected by tubing to a vacuum pressure unit and vacuums or sucks out the unwanted fat allowing the surgeon can sculpt the body into a more attractive shape.

Local anaesthesia used in Tumescent Liposuction is so effective that there is no need for a general anaesthetic. This reduces post surgery discomfort, results in minimises bruising and increased recovery time and it is a safer procedure with reduced risk. It is an outpatient procedure with patients avoiding an overnight hospital stay.

Tumescent Liposuction is not a substitution for exercise and dieting. Good candidates for this procedure include patients who are fit, healthy and have good skin elasticity and are committed to a life change and will continue exercising and maintaining their weight after Tumescent Liposuction surgery.

In Summary…

The best results for Tumescent Liposuction are obtained with candidates who have good skin elasticity and muscle tone. In cases where there is a significant loss of tone and elasticity, the desired cosmetic results may require both liposuction and a cosmetic surgery procedure to remove excessive loose tissue.

Tumescent Liposuction is most effective for removing localised fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise. The contouring procedure is not intended as an alternative for weight loss. In fact, results with Tumescent Liposuction are enhanced when it is combined with a regular exercise routine and a healthy diet to achieve long term results.

Tumescent Liposuction can provide some excellent benefits in terms of your physical health and self-worth as well as your emotional wellbeing. The decision should be yours and yours only however, having made the right decision for you, you will be on the path to joining the hundreds of women and men who undergo Tumescent Liposuction every year who are delighted with the results.
