As we age our cheeks become hollow and lose volume. Cheeks can be augmented using synthetic dermal fillers (Click for more info) and by collagen induction (Click for more info) treatments.
The procedure involves an anaesthetic cream to numb the area. Once the area is numb the filler is used to augment the cheeks. Generally three to five injections are required on each side.
You will be swollen for approximately 2 days. Some mild swelling and bruising may last up to a week. Avoid make up for the first 24 hours.
The final results will be evident about a week after the swelling goes down. The thicker forms of synthetic dermal fillers will last up to 18 months.
Bruising is uncommon but can occur. Lumps are rare and can be dissolved with a simple injection when a non-permanent hyaluronic acid filler is used.
